I think anything will work at this point hehe. It's all going towards their bond being strengthened, and this is a great opportunity to build trust between them. After what happened with Zabuza I'm pretty sure he's going to work extra hard to keep her out of harms way, but this also serves as another defining moment for Sakura to prove that she can really become someone amazing and dependable. Everyone gets to win.

Hm, you could skip to the next day because I doubt their dialogue will be any different. Kakashi's said plenty of what he's needed to say, its a matter of getting Sakura where she needs to be as a shinobi now and I think the best thing we can do for her is give her some action to test herself. How about you fast forward us to the next day and we can have Kakashi grab her for this assignment. Tsunade may or may not approve of Sakura's involvement in this, and Kakashi can either vouch for her or join Tsunade in agreeing that Sakura can handle this, especially since it's in their territory specifically. What do you think?

Orochimaru's so fucking crazy I doubt anyone's supporting him near Konoha actually. Your idea on a missing child is good, so why not combine some of these. Let's say a rogue ninja is kidnapping children for Orochimaru to use in his experiments. Three birds with one good stone, eh? Of course we could only discover the Orochimaru detail later through dialogue with said rogue, but it would be a good opportunity for Sakura to acquire vital experience.

Well they can be both, it's just that they're frequently competing in many aspects that I figured it would be a funny dynamic to have at least once before things developed further between master and student, but no biggie. Kakashi and Sakura can tackle something by themselves and run into Gai and Lee on the way back for some sudden training opportunity. Now, the mission itself ...the world has a shaky peace but I think it's a little much for us to go changing the world this soon, especially since that's Naruto's thing and no one else's. Could be something as simple as taking care of a rogue ninja from the bingo book (like Zabuza) or dealing with some bandits harassing another town in the Land of Fire. Suggestions, comments?

Yeah, but they don't find out until after they get it that that's what they were after haha. Well I'm also thinking of the interactions between the two. It's either Gai and Lee, with the former being super competitive with Kakashi and the latter who may or may not be getting over his crush with Sakura in order to become a stronger man like he promised he'd be when they next met. OR, Asuma and Ino. Asuma and Kakashi would be chill as hell, since Ino and Sakura's rivalry would bring out more than enough energy for the both of them. OR Kurenai-Kiba, but I don't favor it because Kurenai is boring as hell and I don't know if Kiba and Sakura would have any chemistry together like the other two. A mission would need to be urgent to send four peeps like that, but it comes down to personal preference. Would you want KakaSaku to have another pair accompany them, or stay alone?

Oh. I figured Sakura's birthday might have waited until they got closer. You know, like ...~closer~ closer. As in SOMETHINGS THERE BUT NEITHER MAY OR MAY NOT WANT TO ADMIT IT. A gathering could work, but I thought we'd wait for the next day. I was going to have Gai and Lee show up to help Sakura become more physically capable, but we could do something simpler. I can go with a mission, or a slice-of-life interaction with Sakura/Kakashi and someone else. Could be a mission to get Tsunade some booze xD

Once Sakura masters that jutsu Kakashi is going to prepare her for ambushes like referenced in my post, so she can keep her awareness up. Obviously it takes some field experience to really get used to, but getting her prepared for confrontations both expected and unexpected will be a new priority. Deciding on another water style ninjutsu is going to be for her, and if he knows it he'll teach it to her, unless she brings up how she might want to craft her own.
