There is progress!

She ain't lyin'
Okay, no rush dude. I just don't want you working yourself to a week in bed sick =/ you're telling me how important sleep is, but your health is way more important. Walking dogs is now a hazard for you!

Hiei's acceptance is irrelevant, that's true. I believe Kurama would still want Hiei to realize how important Botan will become to him, and, finally seeing how strong she's working to become by staying with Kurama, he might find some new respect for the cute little reaper and eventually wish them well in a way only Hiei can. He'll be Uncle Hiei one day >.<

All I need <333

Korra and Bolin makin' out somewhere? Korra and Bolin makin' out somewhere.

Eh, just gotta find the right ones. I do hope we get new background skins soon. Not that this one is bad, but it does invalidate most of the font options because it's just hard to read with it :C
Looking forward to more progress this weekend.
Lmao I know Hiei wouldn't CARE, but to see Kurama with Botan might be an odd pairing choice to him. Maybe it's because Yoko was against any sort of laws and Botan tries to uphold peace and balance. People change, but still, talk about a bit of irony.

I try to start conversations but it can't be helped. Maybe they'll warm up to me soon ;3

In some crazy AU they're probably kicking it together: Kurama and Shikamaru playing Shogi/Chess and Botan/Sakura just ...I don't know...girl things. xD

Oh, no, I'm way overdue on sleep actually. As of right now, I've been up for 24 total hours with no sleep, and I've got class in about several hours so I should hit the hay myself. Good luck tomorrow <3

EDIT -- Lol I confess that I did not reread anything I wrote for the post because I was tired, and I see a couple mistakes I made. Agh, cringeeee. I also see how rough the color font is on the eyes on a college monitor. Sorry again xP
Kurama being both of those qualities at once, but one side can sometimes beat the other maybe? Confusing. And yeah according to the wiki Yoko could have left ten years after Shuichi was born but was fond of his mother so he stuck around.

Yeah but to be fair they said they weren't an advanced writer. They also don't communicate very much so that's a big downside to it all :C trying to make conversation but they just don't wanna talk back very much. Aww <3 thaaaanks, I'm trying >.< super haaaard. Thanks for the support.

If I can write Kurama I could probably write Shikamaru, but that's yet to be seen. We'll see if I can keep up the momentum. Let me know if Kurama's too good, but then again that may just be the character ^^
I actually struggle understanding that they're separate people, but the same--Yoko and Shuichi that is. Is there any merit to Yoko acting like he isn't Shuichi, when Yoko basically is him now?

I don't know about fantastic, but I'm doing a casual roleplay right now and one in pm, and... let's just say my Advanced is showing xD I gave someone like 13 paragraphs and got 3 back. It was just funny as hell to me xD it's just that you're one of a kind and there's that gap I want to keep closed, so I feel like your equal, rather than just say I am, you know? I'm working on the confidence issue, trust me. I replied like five times to an assortment of people, including you :3 so that's progress!

<333

Yeeeah was afraid it would be too hard on the eyes. I'll change it to a lighter color in the next post for you. And I'm glad you thought it was okay. Kurama is one of the smartest characters in that show and I just don't want you to think I'll have him abuse that. It's hard to dampen intelligence and ability without insulting the character. As long as you trust me, I'll trust me too.
Good question. I suppose he gave her a convenient excuse before departing, like some small group trip to the West to study or something or other. Maybe later his mother can see what he has to deal with for the benefit of everyone else. Kurama might be sad that he has to show her that he isn't the son she thought she had, but maybe Botan can speak about the good things he's done to keep her happy and safe. That would go equally for everyone else in the city. Kurama's pretty modest unless he's pissed, and hopefully mama Minamino won't have to see his rage.

I'm trying.

Okay, first try. Wanted to get into the analytical side of him on this and have him so deep in thought that it's beginning to hurt the guy. Botan's arrival was timely--almost too timely--so if he's busy thinking about these random suicides, and Botan shows up out of the blue without being prompted at all, he's going to put it together that there might be something to all of this. Hope it was okay.
He could still hear the sound of screams ringing in his ears when the body had been discovered. The crowd gathered at the cemetery was moderate in size, complete with family and peers dressed in formal funeral attire. Kurama was among the group of students that had chosen to come and pay additional respects to the deceased, and had set a rose upon the casket just before its final descent beneath the ground. Though the tears had flowed freely at Meiko’s wake a couple days ago, the mood had not changed since then. Family and friends still wept, with many of them approaching Meiko’s parents and offering some words of comfort—if any—that they could possibly offer. Consoling them was a meaningful thing to do, but it would not take the pain away, and they had to have known that just as much as the parents did.

The attendees had said all that they desired to say. Wiping away tears and leaving in groups, Kurama was one of the last to finally peel his eyes away from the new grave and return home. He was there to pay respects to a fellow classmate, and that should have been the end of it. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. Meiko was a stable young woman with a bright future ahead of her. It didn’t take a man with an IQ above 200 to see that this was both tragic and sudden, and as unfounded as it appeared to be. Never did the question of “why?” be as fitting as it does at this very moment. Why? What had been so hard about her life that Meiko believed taking her life was the only logical answer, when past engagements with her only showed a bright and meaningful young lady?

With a downcast head, Kurama had left the grass of the cemetery and made for home. The funeral should have been the end of things, but in his mind this suicide was too random for him to overlook. Just a couple weeks prior another boy, Anabe, had chosen to take his life in the boy’s bathroom. He had attended that funeral as well and was just as unable to see the boy committing suicide, just as he was unable to see Meiko doing the same. Educational pressure was a possibility that staff and parents had both considered. However, their grades reflected that of a strong work ethic. They weren’t bad kids—if anything they were both upstanding and didn’t cause problems for anyone else.

It would have continued to eat at him on the way home were it not for the arrival of an old friend. He had heard the footsteps deliberately heading for him, and had only raised his head before the last possible moment. Kurama’s tense expression was raised, as was his mood, into something much more pleasant despite his color-bleak attire. “Oh, Botan,” he returned her smile with one of his own. “Yes, it is strange to encounter you here of all places.”

Botan just happening to pass by a cemetery at the same time he was leaving one wasn’t likely to be coincidence. As one who ferried souls to the next world, she was more intimate with death than she appeared. Sometimes it was hard to believe she was one of many grim reapers across the world with a demeanor as pleasant as hers. He followed her gaze just behind him at what remained of the funeral service and his expression fell again, then faced forward again in time to follow her gesture of walking beside her. She didn’t waste any time commenting on the funeral, specifically mentioning Meiko by name.

So, she did know. Then again, how could she not given her profession?

“There was a lot of pain involved, but I think the presence of her peers helped ease this for their parents, at least a little,” Kurama replied, facing forward rather than down towards the ground. With Botan’s presence he could speak with someone who understood how strange the circumstances were surrounding the recent suicide. With her next question, Kurama had begun to suspect that this meeting was definitely leading to something more. He looked at her from the corner of his eye. “We studied together once or twice in the past but nothing more than that. She was a good person—as was Anabe.”

He had thrown the mention of the first student in quickly to slow Botan down from any further speech. “Pardon my being blunt Botan, but do you know anything about what’s happened? A suicide two weeks ago, and a suicide last Friday. Since that day, I’ve begun to wonder if this is more than just the pressures of the educational system.” Kurama understood very little; with Botan’s arrival he could ask her questions only she might have the answer to. Being closely tied to Koenma, and having the ability to speak with the deceased, meant that Botan had access to information he did not have readily available.

“Did Meiko say anything to you about what happened when you helped her move on?”
“That’s true,” Samara agreed with the mentor, however she was unable to avoid thinking about the risks that could come from it. It wasn’t that she didn’t trust him, it was that she was forced to trust a group of unknowns with a monumental task in such short time, and that wasn’t something she was one hundred percent on. Her passion to find the best decision for the best outcome was enough to give her headaches on a regular basis. Something could always go wrong with this; the RD System was fully functional given they had a target in range of light, but what if the suits didn’t have enough innate power to give them an edge? And what if they panicked from the stress of actual combat? Not all of them were built for that kind of pressure. It was enough to make her mind explode as the negative outcomes were pit against the positive ones. They had come too far to just lose like this.

Placing a hand on her steaming forehead, Samara wiped away another building mass of sweat that formed. She turned and approached her partner-in-rebellion, coming beside him as he flew from camera to camera, attempting to locate the candidates. Seeing the futility in it before he had, she had dug into her pocket once again to retrieve the miniature pad, opening it and connecting it to the computer just ahead. As he mentioned the tracker system’s readiness, the readings on the pad--power, shell integrity, and now came the faces and physical profiles of those that the trackers would be targeting--appeared on the main screen for the mentor’s viewing. “Already on it,” she replied.

Samara had begun to input commands onto the pad that allowed those trackers to be put to real work. They could track motion at a fairly strong range surrounding this location, but another strength they had was the ability to project image-reading waves thanks to the integration of a highly advanced ground-penetrating radar. The trackers were underwhelming as individuals, but together as a group they would manage to cover the depths of the mines in record time. As soon as commanded, the waves begun to travel through rock and dust all around them. In moments they had managed to uncover two of the ranger hopefuls. “Easy enough,” Samara smiled as two figures on the screen were located. With the RDS being prepared, Jonah and Clementine were marked by a violet and yellow hue on said screen, being targeted for the process. “Two down.”

It had taken a little more time, but the waves had managed to travel as low as level thirteen to locate the next two. Like the previous duo, the next two were marked by colored hues on the RDS display, Oliver with green, and Tommy with blue. “Another two,” Samara’s eyes narrowed, surprised that there was still one missing from the group. Level thirteen was very low already. For Michael to still be missing from the radar was surprising.

She gave it some time, and some more time, until an entire minute had passed. Her expression was one of blatant confusion and disbelief. Michael should have been found by now, but the radar continued to show nothing in every known location of Red Rock’s mining operation. The nerves had begun to work, making her appear grim rather than thrilled. The other four were simple to locate and were even in pairs to make things easier. Samara couldn’t explain this, and it was bothersome. To be the best at what she does meant failure could not be an option, especially when they were barely getting started.

“It can’t find Michael,” She finally said, trying to have the waves go from the start, closer to the base, and expand outward once again. The system worked well enough to find the first four, so it couldn’t possibly be broken. Samara’s eyes scanned the tunnel systems and operation areas for the facility along with the waves, slowing it down and making certain that they didn’t miss him somehow. They had passed Jonah and Clem—already locked by the RDS—and traveled lower, soon passing Oliver and Tommy once again. Nothing.

“He’s—he’s gotta be here somewhere,” Samara muttered worriedly. It wasn’t impossible for them to continue without him, but Power Rangers worked much better in a complete set. He wasn’t high, nor was he low—he was simply nowhere to be found. “Do we continue with the plan and find him later?” she asked her partner, who was sure to know how to proceed.
