Brief History: The Zerg Swarm is a terrifying and ruthless amalgamation of biologically advanced, arthropodal aliens. Dedicated to the pursuit of genetic perfection, the zerg relentlessly hunt down and assimilate advanced species across the galaxy, incorporating useful genetic code into their own. They are named "the Swarm" per their ability to rapidly create strains, and the relentless assaults they employ to overwhelm their foes. The quest for perfection is rooted deep within the zerg psyche, and is a pseudo-religious concept for them. The core idea of this 'religion' is that there is a state that the zerg can reach where they would no longer need to evolve, that their evolutionary form would never have to change again because they could already adapt to any situation. For the zerg, success on the battlefield comes down to overwhelming numbers and great mobility. For them, war is simply survival of the fittest

Unique traits/Personality: The Overmind acts as a father figure to the swarm, while it does not exactly view individual creatures of the swarm to be important it views the swarm as a whole as its responsibility to protect, expand and perfect. It seeks to create a truely perfect swarm that is capable of adapting to any situation and consume powerful species into itself and make the swarm more powerful and deadly.
Its personal power is a vast supply of psyonic power capable of generating warp rifts to move itself and whole swathes of the zerg swarm, or broadcast psyonic control through the network of the hive and direct the efforts of the hive to more direct goals.

Brief Bio: The supreme intellect of the Zerg swarm its will contols each creature of the swarm. It is biologically impossible for the zerg to oppose the Overmind's directives. Although the Overmind is technically a living being, it is essentially a bodiless entity that embodied the whole will of the zerg species.
The Overmind did not directly relay orders to its minions. As new species were added to the Swarm, it began to relay orders telepathically through cerebrates, giant larvae. Direct orders were relayed through overlords. Over a matter of centuries, the zerg consumed or eradicated Char's biosphere. The Overmind knew that if it were to extend the Swarm, it would have to depart the world. The arrival of behemoths in the Zerus system provided the opportunity the Overmind sought—lured to Char, the creatures were assimilated into the Swarm, allowing the zerg to survive in space.
Before the Xel'Naga could complete their work on Char, Driven by its need to consume, the Overmind commenced its attack, catching the xel'naga completely off guard. Within a matter of hours, the zerg overran their defenses and laid waste to the xel'naga fleet.
The Overmind absorbed thousands of xel'naga into itself, gaining their knowledge and insights and causing it to grow much more powerful. It learned the secrets of the sacred khaydarin crystals, and began to incorporate the energies of these crystals into its own. Through the knowledge gained from the xel'naga, the Overmind was able to increase the level of sentience in many of the higher zerg strains, while still keeping them fully under its control. This power also allowed the Overmind to modify the Behemoths and create the Leviathan who could create and travel through wormholes
