Yea. Some... thing, appeared and separated Aeron and some other mental presence from Shinji. Unfortunately, it gave them both bodies and put Aeron on the lip of a black hole instead of leaving him here, even though he was unconscious.
I was hoping you might have been able to notice where it placed Aeron if you were watching.
