Are we *technically* alive though? I mean really, shouldn't you say unlives?

Bio

Former Enlisted Army, and very avid gamer. I have fallen hook line and sinker for Dungeons and Dragons, which has actually taken over as my preferred method to roleplay--as both a DM and a player.

However, my roleplay adventures started with writing, and I always will be interested in creative writing. I left for a brief 5 year stint (Hey, that's brief to an elf or dragon, yeah?) but am back and ready to dive into something (though what, I am unsure).

Happily married to my wonderful wife @PrimalArcana, whom I met at this forum (thanks @Mahz) and I can't be happier :D Love to RP pretty much anything. However, my time is much more limited than it used to be. My PMs are open if you want to roleplay, I'm known to do both 1 on 1 RPs and open forum RPs.

I may not be active anymore, but this still applies: All Green, all Army, HOOAH!

Maybe I'm just over-analyzing shit, but I always feel like nobody here ever wants to talk to me. It's like I'm an outsider here. It's not the biggest concern in the world since I'm mostly here for RP anyway, but it does tend to worry me when I see other people's threads getting plenty of attention while mine are hardly touched. I'm not trying to attention whore or get sympathy, but I felt a need to rant since I've had a pretty shitty evening overall due to some off-site stuff.

Well I'll always talk to ya Jannah! We haven't a lot lately, but I've been busy af! That said, you and I have personal contact outside of the forum--and I'm sorry I haven't used that in the last few days! I have noticed this too though, even your off topic threads don't get alot of attention. BUT, neither do mine; so I don't know if that really means much in terms of not being accepted or being an outsider, so much as just not drawing a lot of attention to yourself. I noticed the people that get a lot of attention to their threads have...well, to put it bluntly, aspects about them that are over the top--Like Natsume, or Cara who is over the top nice and a gutter goddess xD So, that might be it. Just guessing, to be honest.
I'll say this. That first girl has a boyfriend already, so if you really do care about her, maybe it's best that you stand back, don't get in the way, and let those two be what they will be. I won't get into too much detail with my own personal life here, but I was in a similar situation...and find myself in something of a similar situation now (except the girl in question and I actually have a history together).

Bottom line being, she's seeing someone and if said someone makes her happy....maybe you should let them be happy. Would be different if it was just someone she liked but wasn't actively dating, but if they are dating...maybe just try to let it go, hard as that is to do.

I would say it depends on your definition of godmoding. Some people get super annoyed if you so much as mention that their character is in the room with all the other characters where all the stuff is happening, because they didn't specifically mention that s/he was or was not, and you're totally controlling their character and omg GM ban this skrub.Taking direct control of another player's character is only acceptable in a few very specific cases:1. The player gave you permission in advance2. The player has been inactive for an extended period of time, their character is vital for story progression AND the GM/consensus has given you permission to do so.3. You are the GM and have explicitly stated before the RP that this was something you might occasionally do.I don't personally believe that it is the right of any GM to just stick a middle finger up to the player and say 'Screw you, your character is doing X whether you like it or not' except in extreme circumstances. And even then, most of those extreme circumstances would be better solved by just kicking the offending player, or at least politely asking him to bugger off.

Agreed--like u said, the exception being a plot-vital inactive character and u r the gm. I like to deal with inactives by killing them off xD >: D
I've been too busy to even work on anything yet, but i'll try to get something in soon :)
Hey I can work on one in a few mins. I just got home from a long drive. Should've been 7ish hours but my mom and I made it in 6 xD
I understand Dioxide. If you *want* me and you can collab a post together--the next one in fact, since it is a fine time for a time-skip until the next morning. If you don't mind that, we can set up some time where we can both hit a google doc and throw a nice post together :)

If you guys would take a minute to vote for my photography portfolio in the 2014 Exposure Award Competition, it would really mean a lot to me.

Thank you. <3

How could I not do you one tiny favor after you and Mahz have worked so hard on this forum? I voted, and would again in a heartbeat. And DAMN, that is some nice photography work, I really do love it! You're really good at it, Contra--I hope you can find a career in that field if you don't have one already!
If this was CaH, Cara, I'd know the *perfect* card to play in response to your question. You know what it is, I KNOW you do ;) ;) ;)

Well. I can tell you a couple theoretical reasons... The God factor. We like to create things. We really, really do. I mean look at The Sims, it's wildly popular despite penny pinching you for every nickel and dime you have with DLC. Why? Because people like to play God. They like to create entities, ideal or otherwise, that fit something they imagine, something... Awesome, unique, cool, badass, pretty, etc. Because making a character is a lot easier than actually playing that character out to a degree that would be as satisfying. Example: Go make an Oriental anything, like a samurai. Now try playing that in a manner that is authentic to its culture. While creating it, it's easy to say that they would adhere to some code of Bushido or behave in X, Y, and Z manner that makes them sound cool, but then putting that to the test in actual scenarios where behaving in X, Y, and Z manner might get them killed , or where the code of Bushido prevents them from doing the right thing and you portrayed them as a good person, well...It's a lot easier to paint a portrait, than it is to have that portrait come to life and disappoint you when it never, ever quite matches the expectations you had of it.... Ironically, just like having children.

I actually LOVE the idea of throwing my characters to the test!!! If they have a knights code of conduct, I want to follow through with said character to the bitter end, because it's THEM. It's who they are, and if who they are kills said character, all the more fun for the story!!! I have yet had this be a life or death situation for my characters, but I've done this in novels I've written--much to my surprise, I've had a few interesting things I did not intend in some stories I've put together. And it's ALWAYS fun.

Maybe some people might not want to risk their characters life to make them behave authentically to who they are, but I find it all the more exciting. That said, of something happens in the RP to make them change their behavior or attitude, then I'm not going to have them just ignore said situation either. I like portraying my characters realistically :)

I like BOTH making a character and RPing. I probably enjoy RPing more, but I can spend HOURS on a CS. I've found that I do this more and more lately, it started in the latter weeks leading up to the Guildfall when I got into more advanced RPs. It can be fun to really dig into your character, what they look like, who they are. As for personality, I think that you can set up a baseline for your character, and then as the RP progresses they may or may not change. Nothing wrong with that, it's called character development and if anyone chastises you for slightly altering your characters personality, they obviously don't know much about writing in general. One of the first things you will learn about writing fiction is that character development and growth is VITAL.
I shouldn't be unemployed for too long. Soon as I get back to our place, I'm trying to find a job again. I've GOT to find a way to bring in some income so mom and I aren't totally reliant on someone else. But I'll still find time to post :P

Speaking of, I don't wanna get hopes up in case shit falls through, but thinks to the nicest Landlady ever to walk planet EARTH, it looks like I might not have to leave after all <3

Alright, so who is with us in the RP? Myself, Jannah, Obsidian, Shufflecat. Athan we don't know, I'll PM him in a few. Anyone I'm forgetting? I think we should bump the interest check, what do you think?
