Holy crap holy crap holy crap IInflex you are a goddess.

Username: Stitches

Character Name: Thestia Merridew (Professor Merridew to students and teachers in the presence of students, Thestia to teachers and the heads.)

Age: 32
Gender: Female

Appearance: She looks like this, with blonde hair, blue eyes and generally wears lilac. (I will edit this image when I get the chance.)

Personality: Very fun-loving and jovial, Thestia never ceases to try her best to cheer people up without using a cheering charm. She always speaks quickly and excitedly, her movements echoing some sort of graceful dance. Kind and caring, it's rare to see her without a smile in most situations. Her optimism is unwavering.

Bio: Born to a pureblood family, Thestia Merridew lead a life of joy. Her childhood was sprinkled with magic from her small country cottage in Minnesota, USA. She went and learnt magic in Salem, and achieved Exceeds Expectations in most topics, excluding an Acceptable for Muggle Studies and an Outstanding for Charms. Her most famous achievement was her ability to produce a corpereal patronus in her Fourth year.

Thestia was present for the rise and fall of Lord Voldemort but thankfully the only way it affected her was some family members becoming Death Eaters. After such a dark time, Thestia devoted herself to making people happy. She tired a (failed) business attempt at selling enchanted cutlery, and then applied for Charms Professor seven years ago.

Skills:
Strengths:
- Charms, especially the Patronus Charm
- Herbology
- Intelligence

Weaknesses:
- Potions
- Physical strength
- Dark magic

Classes: Charms. Fifth years have two double lessons, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Tbh by now I really want the OOC up! X) I think we've done more than our fair share share of planning, and any other minor issues can be solved as we go in the IC.

The name of the school mustn't have any links to the location. Think about the existing schools - they never say exactly where they are in their names to keep the secrecy. I also think students should arrive by boat, instead of train.
If you don't want a timetable, fine by me. Clearly I thought it was more "slice of life" than plot-centered. But if that is the case, what will the teachers do in this RP? Unless they get fixed up in whatever ungodly mess the students are caught in, I see no reason for PC teachers. And the weather thing has been a very successful method of adding difficulty in the RP. Who wants to play quidditch in freezing rain? But, same as before, if you don't want it don't have it.

Evee, you are a genius. But we need a staffroom and teacher dorms. I also hope people will put the location they are RPing in at the top of their posts, to avoid confusion.
And, of course, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is set on the 5th year and has a lot more...schoolwork in it than the other books. Shame about Umbridge, but you see quidditch, clubs, hogsmeade, exam classes, detention and even exams themselves.

Edit: if possible, can the OOC post contain:
A timetable (for the sake of simplicity, maybe all houses attend the same lessons* but are separated into house groups?)

A layout of the school

A weather forecast (changed for each new day)

*I also think that each lesson/part of a normal school day should be summarised into one post,** to avoid the whole "stuck on first lesson" RPs that you tend to see. If people want to, I dunno, knock over someone else's cauldron then perhaps they can sort it out OOCly prior to posting?

**Teachers should be able to set the task for their lessons~
Tbh, I think we should kee it to a higher year, like fifth years, and add on OWL stress accompanying the plot. But a scattering of different years and houses will separate the RP too much.
RIGHT. We need house names, and I think we got the go-ahead for our two houses, Foxglove and Wisteria.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plant_symbolism

Griffyndor House suggestions: Borage, Fennel, Elderflower, Gladiolus, Oak.

Slytherin House suggestions: Begonia, Witch-hazel, Camellia, Cypress, Laurel. (Fungus or Wormwood, whilst having meanings that aren't tied with the house, are also options.

Foxglove...I think the multi-tailed fox is a given, now. So running with the theme of mythical creatures,

Wisteria (Hufflepuff): something hardworking and patient. Perhaps a winged horse, or a hippogriff, as they seem to be methods of transport and the horses actually pull carriages?

Griffyndor house: a phoenix seems like the best idea so far, but there's also a dragon that would work.

Slytherin house: An augery could work (their song was rumoured to predict death), or a Thestral.

If you could pick the best names for each house and the best mascots, we should be able to decide, but if you really despise all of them then feel free to make up your own.
AW, thank you so much, but need I remind you that most of my opinions expressed so far were based on your own ideas, such as the different house names? I wouldn't give myself all of the credit, here. You're pretty awesome yourself!
I am loved, but to what reason? The fact I just stole Charms teacher? I'm so confused!
Mhm, if possible I'd like to reserve Charms teacher. I feel it'll be refreshing to rp as a teacher for once.
