Why do people say "Tuna Fish sandwich"? That's like saying "Chicken Bird sandwich."

Bio

I never know what to put in these things. I'm just a guy who likes making stories. If I'm not roleplaying, I'm writing my own stuff or just creating random characters. I'm particularly fond of superheroes but I also really like character driven stuff and tend to dive into the details of a character. No character can be too detailed as far as I'm concerned.

"Oh please. It's manslaughter at best." Nate retorted when JJ complained about not being an accomplice to murder. If she was going to hang around with him for much longer, she would have to get a better understanding of the laws they were breaking. The list was growing. After she climbed out of the passenger seat and went around the car to check on this newest wrinkle in what should really have been a simple plan, Nate watched her in the mirror. When she checked down to check the strangers pulse, Nate felt a sudden emotional gut punch. He didn't feel all that bad about actually hitting the guy. He felt bad for not helping him. Nate was a trained medic after all. Had he really become so callous that he would just let an innocent civilian die just so he could get away without having to clean up another mess?

A wave of emotion washed over him then. He ran through all of his recent actions in his head...and decided most of them were fine, bordering on hilarious. But something still didn't sit well with him about the current situation. He was actually relieved when the stranger moved and started talking. Nate quickly whipped off the police shirt he was wearing and tossed it into the back seat, hitting Vin with it in the process. He stepped out of the car and past JJ.

Approaching the stranger on the ground, he bent forward to address him. "No, we can't take you to the hospital. We're insane criminals on the run from the law. We don't need that kind of hassle." Nate's statement was entirely true but it was delivered with his best crazy eyes and almost seemed sarcastic. He then stood up straight and turned to JJ, telling her "We should probably do something though. We really don't need him blabbing to people about the maniacs who hit him with their car." He seemed to completely gloss over the fact that it was him who had hit the stranger with the car. "Can you do your healy thing? Make him better?" He raised his hands up and made a waving motion with them in a magical 'wave the injury away' kind of way but he soon realized that his hands were right in front of her chest and immediately dropped them back down. "I mean I could just put him out of his misery but Michaels took my guns." He looked decidedly sad about that.

Well, @Automaton, you may have been hit by a car but at least the people inside that car are decent, caring human beings...

@Rawk

He wouldn't do that, it's completely out of character, if this were an RPG his strongest stat would be his charisma. He's more likely to convince her to do it.

I don't know about that. She's pretty stubborn.
Nate, Vin and JJ had finally made their way out of the city, miraculously avoiding any further complications with the law. Although Nate knew it was probably only a matter of time if his passengers had anything to do with it. They had an annoying habit of getting into trouble. Sure, he did too but it was less entertaining when other people did it. Still, it was much quieter out here and Nate knew that any law enforcement they did run into would probably be a lot easier to deal with than the city cops who seemed to have a hard-on for him for some reason. He couldn't imagine why...Oh yeah. All the murders.

He had mostly tuned out the noise coming from JJ and Vin by this point and was deep in thought. The concussion didn't exactly help him maintain his focus on the road and he felt his vision blur slightly. His head began to bob back and forth gently. When he realized he wasn't really paying attention to the road in front of him, he squinted and tried to focus. His vision cleared too late though and he noticed a man in the road. He slammed on the breaks just as he heard JJ scream. Or maybe it was Vin. He couldn't really tell.

The car stopped too late, the tires screeching to a halt, and the man hit the hood of the car, rolling up over Nate's head and tumbling off the roof to the back left of the car. Nate slowly lowered his window and peaked out at the crumpled mess of a human being lying in the road. He hadn't been hit terribly hard. He would probably have some pretty bad injuries but they were likely no worse than Nate was suffering himself. All the same, Nate peered down at him for a moment, slowly raising an eyebrow as he waited for any sign of movement. He didn't want to have to stop and deal with this. Not now. Pulling his head back into the car, Nate sighed and said "He's probably fine."

So does anyone want to be his cellmate?
@Xandrya Maybe not but Nate did a damn good job of it anyway, right? ;)
I'm pretty sure we're all at least a little to blame for the situations they found themselves in. If Nate hadn't blacked out and abandoned JJ and Vin in the apartment, he probably could have helped them out.
@Xandrya Well Vin was a total stranger and she healed him so I kind of just assumed she was kind of selfless like that.
@AcerRo Do I know you?
Welp, I've gnawing on that for a while but I don't have organic ideas to help you get into the story. Right now both groups are about to meet.

Best I came up with was for you to just show up in Harlan and mingle with a few NPCs till the two groups come together.

Or...OR...Nate accidentally hits him with his car.

I know that sounds crazy but hear me out. They're already on the run and Nate probably wouldn't want to stop to help but maybe JJ is less of a dick and tries to heal him. Maybe we could have him follow them after that to figure out what the hell happened or, more complicated, he somehow ends up in the car with them...Maybe Nate doesn't want to stop long enough to let JJ heal him so they take him with them and do it on the way...That one makes less sense but I'm just spitballin'.
