I'm just a guy from the good old United Kingdom with a penchant for sci fi and general fantasy in a nation based roleplaying scope.

Well its difficult to pin down without finer details of origin but will of spent some considerable time burrowing out of necessity on one of the marginal worlds - and no doubt copious amounts of breeding if limited by current circumstance.

It wont be too out of the ordinary - though I do tend to opt for a sea of voices when it comes to Hives rather than a singular dominant queen or what have you. Its more interesting that way. As I say though, a lot that underpins the basics comes from the origin which requires a little discussion.
Well arthropoids I would say but thats essentially the same thing.

It does depend what people are comfortable with - Im happy with conflict leading to leaving though likely with the assumption that were dead and gone at least until some time prior to the modern date, or other options that people might be interested in that are less conventional.

Interesting.

My first idea would be opting for some kind of hive-mind insectoid race - though without a Garden world i'm looking for someone to of ejected me somewhere less ideal. If anyone is down for that I'd love to talk.

If not, I shall contemplate other options!
Rest ye well, sweet Arawak.
Wouldn't really work in the context of Mars in particular, but who knows about anywhere else? Will have to think of a reason why they aren't using or have not since used, once contact is re-established if they lost it, the "easy" terraforming at hand, but not really a showstopper.

Knock yourself out.
Awfully militant for a germa--

oh.
Techwise, Anything up to what you see in BSG/Halo type universes, that is, the new BSG - bar self-aware AI, that can come in RP if you want. If you feel you're going past that then find a good reason or ask about it.

As for that. You shouldn't feel the need - the purpose of the FTL in place was to create strategic and tactical considerations already. I mean it essentially provides for as such in that the only meaningful way to travel between most stars is at particular points and along particular lines, and where these node lines are and where they go to is largely at player discretion.

I mean lets use an example - my map making skills are nil and I won't make you suffer paint.

Lets say you wanted to get from Altair to Gamma Serpentis, you'd need to go to 70 Ophiuchi, down to a system off screen, back up to HR5553, then onto Gamma Serpentis. At least if you're aiming to do it in any reasonable amount of time. I hope that example of the FTL system works in helping people.

If you still feel you need a crazy nebula or whatever for some reason go ahead and throw something down to discuss, but i wont otherwise be policing local spatial geographic features unless they're outright silly.

But without fear mongering, my entire existence is invalidated! D:

Fear the EU and their rampant liberal democracy, obviously.
Yeah but we're not talking low-grade cheap half-cut drugs here now are we if you want people to actually live, we're talking high quality specialized production on a large scale and that means were talking big old production trails, or theft, theft from big old meanie corporations with meaningful political connections or god forbid a state owned soviet co-operative.

Doesn't mean it doesn't happen, so make scope for it, but it isn't as discrete and below the board as you know, pretty much everything else - hell I'd expect the legit companies that make it would probably be just as inclined to, er, "headhunt" from such operations while simultaneously stopping them eating into profit margins.

I do believe though that I already said basic augmentation was "common" enough, particularly for specific tasks like industry that required it and most likely with some uptake among the rich and for other specialized roles like intelligence. Its just not widespread. If people need more than that then make it happen IC.
Bioaugmentation is probably quite expensive, added there's no real nanotechnology of any worth to help with it so were potentially talking a Deus Ex type scenario where you're basically on drugs for life to not reject them, theres cultural bias and yes, there's about a dozen organisations both official and unofficial on both sides that do things for and against and its a mess.

The UN is also militarized, don't forget that.

It's not something I'm going to keep rehashing or i'll be rambling and ranting about it, it is what it is, whether it makes sense or not is kind of secondary to whether its giving me a headache or not. What you do once things are in motion are another matter and come with their own consequences.

Theres not bans on "genetic modification" - hell some are necessary for medical reasons and other things are necessary to live in certain places, its just not a run away prospect where people have stupidly ridiculous supermen yet are 90% technology on top. That's not what this is about.

Also y'all can stop with your silly anti-communist fear mongering, the USSR is more socialist than communist at this point in time :p.

And if anything is a problem I'll let you know.
