LOCATION: Road to Avveel / Heading East - South-East / a few miles to go before reaching the village.

As the oddly sneaking group of adventurers carefully approached the young boy who now had his back towards them. The boy kept his eyes keenly on the ground as he lifted a stone with his childishly skinny arms. He could be heard mumbling something to himself. "Not here either, no... maybe under there instead.", the boy uttered below his breath. He dropped the stone he had just lifted. As the stone fell, it sent a minor puff of dust and gravel flying. The boy moved a bit to the right and crouched next to a small round slab that was leaning on one of the bigger boulders that were slightly taller than an average man. The bigger ones surely weighed hundreds if not thousands of pounds. The boy peeked into the gap between the slab and the boulder it was leaning on. "Hmmmmm...", he thought aloud before standing up. Then he grabbed the slab and began to pull, trying to move it. It was obvious it was not going to work, not with his scrawny arms.

Another bell rang in the distance and swept across the plateau with its calm tone. This time the young boy reacted. As the bell rang, he seemed to awaken and realise what time it was. He straightened his posture slightly and turned his head slightly towards the village. He paused for a second, sighed, and returned his focus to trying to move the slab. "Not yet", the boy muttered. "Not yet..."
I think so. So 1 to 2 would be more accidental things when emotions get out of control?

You still can do minor things successfully and have some control. But yes, bigger things would still be accidental for the most part.
If Sanity won't post within the next day, then I will move on and start a new round :)
Sounds interesting. I've never done a post-apocalyptic RP before, but this one might be fun to try.

Just for clarity, what kind of powers, specifically, would people have, particularly around the +1 to +3 range?

Well, at grade 3 one would have some control over meaningful protective or offensive manifestations, a shield or a lethal energy projectile. Things are not so much accidents anymore. Clear single target manifestations or small AOE type. Lesser manifestations are simpler to perform so they don't require as much emotional control or ability to channel the energy.

5 would be total control of impressive manifestations, no accidents.

This helpful?
@Sanity43217, is your post ready soon? :)
Looking forward to your post @Sedjwick! ^_^
The OOC is up!

If you are still interested in joining, there is still room and there might be a possibility to make a brief guest appearance at a later time.
Alt-Earth 2020AD: To Find a Haven in Hell

“Light and darkness cannot occupy the same space at the same time.
Now nature makes us decide which one will occupy Earth.”

A space storm hit the Earth on 13th of September 2012. It raged for three days and three nights. Electricity died and the whole digital world with it. Connections between the American continents and Europe were lost as well as connections with all the islands of the oceans and far away places in distant countries. Satellites fell from the skies with everything else that was in the air. All of humanity was thrown back to the age before electricity.

The Earth wailed and screamed that time. It was in pain. It trembled from core to the crust destroying many great cities. Valleys turned into hills and mountains were leveled to fields. Many islands were swallowed and new ones emerged from beneath the sea.

Since then Earth has been sick. It is alive, just barely. It stays alive with the light in the hearts of men, women and children.

The storm and the tumult killed most of us. Those that did not die in the storm, soon died to their injuries, lack of nutrition and shelter. Those of us who stayed alive experienced strong headaches and physical pain for days, some even weeks after the storm.

Soon reports of strange anomalies and supernatural accidents started to travel among the survivors. We heard of poltergeists, possessions and some throwing a burst of destructive energy of some kind in their anger killing someone by accident. We also heard of pillars of light, glowing shields that saved someone from being crushed under a building that was falling apart. We heard of miracles.

We learned that the storm had amplified our emotions and deepest desires into a usable and visible energy that could destroy and build up, damage and protect.

In the world we lived in, we faced a new danger – the power of our emotions, unthoughtful reactions and desires. Those who were keen to be negative and live a life of questionable morals began to use their newly found powers for their own benefit. They soon found out that life began to fade from the place where they lived. Earth began to wither, lose it's colors and eventually it would die.

Earth grew stronger where there was light. It could be even restored to its former glory. These places became the target of the darkmen – or parasites as some called them. The darkness within them began to consume them. They would attack, destroy, plunder, kill. We were forced to fight.

That is how this war began. Not a war of faith or flag, neither a war to conquer nor to liberate. This war is about keeping Earth alive.

Practical Things
  • I will play environment/NPCs and trigger events guiding the players along the journey.
  • The role-play will play out in scenes or scenarios instead of one constant continuous flow.
  • Expecting 3 good paragraphs of writing per turn. I consider one paragraph as 3 well thought out, expanded and phat sentences.
  • The play can start already with one person (the main character), more can tag along on the way.
  • Characters enter the story by application.

Welcome, Survivor, to Alt-Earth in 2020AD! Before I send you to this dreary, broken world, let's get your character in order. Please note, as you create your character, the world practically ended in 2012 in our timeline. So any technological advancements since then, that we have experienced, have not happened. This might not be of relevance to your character in a significant way, but do keep it in mind.
Character Info for Applications

Name
Age
Gender
Sexuality not relevant for me or the story, but a welcome addition to the depth in storytelling

Personality

Appearance picture or written description
Equipment and other items the character carries; ie. food, tools, weapons etc.. No need to be exhaustive and all encompassing unless you want to dive that far in.

Alignment (-5 < 0 < +5) Minus (-) is darkness, plus (+) is light. Describe how this manifests in your character, appearance, powers, weaknesses etc.. Keep it simple and grounded. While these supernatural elements exist, they are not massive super-mega-giga class über magic. Major manifestations are rare occurrences and very hard to control, exactly as emotions are in stressful circumstances.

Backstory

Send the character info to me as a PM before posting them to the Character library. Write "Alt-Earth Charcter Application" as the subject. Also, make a note if you are interested in being the leading character.

NOTE! This is the first time I am running this role-play, so everything isn't crystal clear right from the get go. Therefore, all questions are more than welcome! Also wishes and ideas are heard and considered =)
Thank you for your interest, @LuckyBlackCat! Seems I can start building the play-thread. By the time it is finished, I think we would have a group together already.
