I feel like Myriad Reality is somehow the secret glue holding this entire site together

People like to nudge aside the fact that there's a level of commitment to hosting, and joining an RP. The majority of players don't have it in either case, regardless of how interesting an idea is.

I've been gone so long that I forgot what the status bar was like. It's like coming back to an old apartment, except it's not an apartment anymore, it's just two walls and a lot of heroine addicts.

"Don't worry about me. Rest your head on the ground. I will put you to sleep, and do the same for Jenso and Bruce." Nexus explained, standing up slowly. "Keep your mind on the rift in the sky."
"Uhg, that should be enough," He muttered, "It should be all you need to figure out a way out of here. I can let you speak with Jenso and Bruce, whenever you wish." He paused again. "It may seem rushed, but I'm reaching a particular limit... Think..." He paused and grabbed his head with both hands.
Nexus coughed into his fist, shaking off the unpleasant feeling as best he could. "A long time ago, there was a woman who marvelled at the possibilities that Arcane energy could bring. She pried into the mysteries that others deemed worthless, and surpassed her peers with nary a problem. Her eyes, a rare sort, made those like her jealous. Nobody could see the way she could. Well, most couldn't anyways." Nexus rose his hands and summoned a disk of blue energy, which depicted a woman's image from top to bottom. A lithe woman, wearing a blue lab coat. Blue eyes, and blue hair, tied back into a ponytail just below her shoulders. "She held answers for all, and would share them, albeit with a tinge of disdain and boredom. She couldn't stand it, at all. It was like her colleagues were puppies, looking for guidance at every turn. And so, she set off on her own, to investigate the mysteries of the universe, the energy between worlds, the darkness that wrapped everything together- The void." Nexus paused for a moment and blinked a couple times. "This girl was lost for meaning, despite her endless success. Even when she was able to touch the void itself, she was unsatisfied. She only wanted to know more, to know enough, in order to fill the void in her own soul. And she did, eventually, find meaning. But that meaning was stolen away from her." Nexus coughed. "Sadness, anger, joy... All of it wells endlessly. She seeks now, only to know herself." Nexus clenched his fists and closed his eyes. "What is life, if one has to live it without a name?" Nexus let out a hefty breath and grabbed his head with both hands.
Nexus scratched his exposed cheek and nodded. "I'm going to tell you a story." He mumbled slightly, straining through some unseen force. "And then I'm going to let you speak with Jenso and Bruce, for as long as I can manage."
"I cannot help you in such ways," He said without delay, "There's only so much I can do, or say, really. Fortunately, the others are fine. Unfortunately, your options as a whole are limited. I can do something, however." Nexus looked around carefully, and then sat down in the dust, crossing his legs. "Regardless of whether you choose to trust my words, I would advise you not waste energy in here."
Nexus cocked an eyebrow back. "Has Jenso not told everyone about me? I am Nexus," He stated clearly, "I've just finished speaking with Bruce and Jenso, in their respective jail cells. I was eager to speak with you as well,
but the situation is... Complicated."
He eyed Alvios' sword and sighed. "I see that Vale served a different purpose, than he initially planned."
Shaidra faltered mid-swing. Her smokey claw shrinking, barely enough to harm Alvios, although it did hit its target, rending through his outer layer of defense briefly before fading. Alvios' blade did pass through her moments earlier, but in the last second, as it left the side of her torso, a small spurt of blood flew outwards, and she stopped in midair, poofing out of sight. He phasing stopped for a moment. It might have been unclear, but there was a very obvious pang of fear that exerted through her expression in the moments before she disappeared. Unfortunately, the injury she'd just received had been glancing at best, but for the moment, Alvios had freed himself of her presence.

"She doesn't often act that way around people," Another voice began to close in from all around. Nexus' form clearly faded into view, a few feet in front of Alvios, just moments after he spoke. "Shaidra is very scared of you."
Shaidra phased through the wave of light, bounding off the ground and jumping again, moving through the blades that followed as well as she swiped with he right hand, extending it into a much larger claw of black smoke.
Shaidra's eyes went dark. A low growl bubbled up from the bottom of her throat, and she pressed her hands into the ground. Black claws erupted fourth from the base of her hands, and began to tear away at the ground. "Insist," She growled, "Die like the rest," She roared, lunging towards Alvios with her claws at the ready, like an animal.
Shaidra looked down at her scar and let the fabric close itself up. Thwip. She looked to the right, and then to the left, and back at Alvios one more time. The little wraith said nothing for a few moments. Then, she placed a hand against the smokey fabric that covered most of her body. "Bad, scary," she grunted. She pointed at Alvios. "Good, scary," Shaidra stopped and looked around, bemused. Her eyes fluttered up for a moment, and her posture dropped "Everything is terrifying." Her eye flashed for a moment, bringing a tinge of life to the blackness. She looked up again, and viciously pushed into her chest with five fingers. "Stop fretting. Want it." She stopped, and her head spun away from Alvios, like she'd caught something in the distance. But there was nothing.
