Or are you talking about the knee-jerk reaction that is really common now among everyone else? How he has caused a lot of otherwise politically lethargic people to cringe in horror and pay attention?

Yes. Anything that makes people care about politics is a-okay in my books. The biggest issue facing democracy at the moment is apathy, and Trump makes people care about politics. I could say the same for Bernie Sanders, but this thread wasn't about him.

I adore Bernie Sanders as well.

Granted. You are now Hank Schrader, friendly neighbourhood DEA agent.

I wish the corner store down the street wasn't out of Dr. Pepper. ;(
I adore Trump.

Politics is just about the only serious interest that I have, and it is probably the most skewed subject out there in so far as how important it is compared to how much people care about it and especially inform themselves about it. Donald Trump makes people interested in politics, and for that, irrespective of his political views or mine, he has my thanks.
Granted, but you're perma'd on the first day.

I wish I could go back in time to undo all of my worst mistakes.
Granted. You're a fourth trimester abortionist, paid below the minimum wage through a customer service loophole.

I wish for all English speakers to have impeccable grammar.
Granted. It's a 50 year old foot fetishist.

I wish I had loads a money.
Why don't you take a field trip down to Fargo (or Roseau/Bemidji, I think it's worse there) and get a real understanding of the accent.

I'm not sure it's worth visiting small town North Dakota just to get a precise assessment of exactly how wrong a TV show's accents were.
So, I live in Saskatchewan. In case any of you didn't know, Saskatchewan is just north of North Dakota, as shown in Exhibit A.

Now, people who live in different regions of North America have different accents. Generally, accents do not differ starkly over small distances, especially within the same region. Someone from southern North Carolina is going to sound pretty much the same as someone from northern South Carolina, for instance. I don't really think that I have a noticeable accent, but evidently people don't notice their native accent, so I'm willing to accept that maybe I do have one. At the very least, though, I can say that people from Manitoba, Alberta, North Dakota, Montana and Minnesota sound very similar to each other and to myself.

So, with that in mind, why the hell does everyone in Fargo have cartoonishly ridiculous, completely wrong accents? Has no one involved in the production of that series ever been to North Dakota? It's what you'd expect from someone who's really bad at accents trying to imitate Swedes. Television series' generally do at least an OK job of regional accents, so why are the accents in Fargo so horribly wrong?
Just go to a convention of some kind, every booth will be giving out some kind of swag. Supermarkets are good too, free samples and such.

You probably have to swallow an awful lot of sperm for that to happen.
