Hallow can be killed, but it takes more than a simple stab to the chest.

Generally fire is the fastest and most efficient way to kill a Hallow or large groups of them. The sure fire way of killing a Hallow is basically taking them apart limb by limb by either hacking them off or pounding them to a pulp.

So in other words: they can't be killed unless their bodies are completely destroyed. Would've been simpler if you'd just said, "Yes".
