Looking back at this bio years later...the cringe is insane.

It's dying huh? Well would rebooting it be a possibility? Because I'd love to take part in this but if it's about to go down I might not.
This RP accepting? Because this looks interesting and I haven't tried a Sci-Fi yet(I think)
Shane grinned, he had his work cut out for him today which was fine because he liked a challenge. He shook his head before saying, "Alright let me show you mine, maybe it'll work for you too. If not then we just have to find yours". Shane put his left foot forward and his right foot was planted firmly into the mat behind him. He kept his back straight and right knee bent which leaned him back slightly his left fist was held up to his chest and his right to his waist.  He took only a split second to check his stance before saying to Ariella, "Now you try and tell me how it feels. If it's not working for you then find yours and I'll see if there are any problems with it"
Arriving at the training room Shane placed Riya against a wall nearby and took off his hood before stepping onto a sparring mat. He did some stretches to loosen up while he waited for Ariella to get ready. "Alright let's see your stance, show me how you stand in a fight", this could prove to be a challenge as Shane was used to fighting dirty. Here there wasnt anything to be used as a weapon. No rocks, broken glass, bricks, dirt. Nothing, it was going to be a clean fight, something he wasn't used to having in a while. He'd worry about that later, one step at a time.
"Its been a while since I've had to teach someone but sure why not. Nice to meet you Ariella, name's Shane and this right here is Riya", Shane unsheathed the short sword for Ariella to see before gesturing for her to hold it. "Well we better get to the training room if we wanna get enough time in"

Ariella's eyes widened as she saw him unsheathing the sword. Oh. That's what he meant by sparring! But she had no idea what to do with a sword! That was so much worse then her not knowing how to fight with her hands. She thought it was going to be some kind of hand to hand spar and he teaching her but it wasn't. Ariella looked down at the sword, slowly reaching for it and not knowing how to grab it. "I'm sorry... I can't do this... I don't know how to use the sword and I REALLY don't want to end up hurting someone because of it." she said turning her attention to Shane giving him a small smile, hopefully he would understand her little situation. Unless he will go easy and train her, then sure. She is a fast learner! And she can't be relying on her powers always.

Shane let out a short chuckle before taking back Riya, "Haha oh no, no one handles Riya but me and I wouldn't start you off with swords. I meant hand to hand combat and maybe some sparring with our powers". Shane could tell Ariella wasn't the type to favor weapons, perhaps he could change that over time. Hey for all he knew he could have a new partner. Wait no, it wouldn't be right to bring her into this kind of life...then again it could be nice to relive the good old days having a partner again. "Wow I make myself sound old", he thought before turning his attention back to Ariella, "Come on, I'll go easy on ya. Besides it's been a while since I've worked on my fighting so it should be a fair fight" he said before begining to head in the direction of the training room. If she followed then he'd soon have a partner, if not then oh well, just meant he wouldn't have to split the payoff for each job.
Ariella looked up as she saw a boy talking to her. It was a guy that she had training with earlier on. Should she go training with him? Ariella couldn't hand to hand fight though. But if he could teach her that would be great. "Umm..." Ariella stood up from the ground and looked at the guy, nodding. "Sure, I guess I can go... but I can't actually fight with my hands.. I wasn't trained with that kind of skill and stuff... I can still come with though? If you want. Oh! And my name is Ariella. Nice to meet you." she smiled at Shane, hopefully he would let her come along. She did need a few buddies and all!

Shane had finished eating and was heading towards the training room when he noticed a girl from class sitting in the hallway. He did want to get some training in but figured it'd be more fun with a partner. He shifted out of Rift form before asking, "Hey, we had last class together right? I was heading to the training room and was hoping to have a sparring partner. You in?"
Shane exhaled a sigh of relief, class was finally over. Not that he hated it, in fact this might be his favorite class. What made him grateful for its end was when his powers returned to him. It felt as if a part of him was missing but was returned to him. Upon sensing his powers fully returned he immediately shifted into Rift Form. The shadows in the room were enhanced to the point where ignoring them was impossible. Looking at the world through the eyes of the Riftman was spectacular in a depressing way. Instead of seeing an area shaded in black there was nothing visible, it was as if the area covered in shadow had never existed and in its place was a black tear in the world. Another change was when he was invisible the world around him became ethereal. People were ghostly figures of themselves, and the world lost all color.  Now invisible Shane noticed that one of the students lay unconscious on the floor of the training room. While he could help he knew she'd be fine, the others were already coming to her aid. He had an hour to himself and he was going to use it well. He hovered over to his room and shifted back to normal. Opening his bag he took out Riya and unsheathed her. The blade was black like tar but shined in the light, it was made of obsidian and after the amount of care and maintenance Shane put into this blade it could slice through anything. It seemed that everytime he held this blade, memories of his time with Riya came to mind. This time he was reminded of a job the two of them did. It was their first job together and as one would suspect it didn't go smoothly. Shane was the predator, always looking for a moment to strike from the shadows and take down anyone in the way while Riya was an opportunist, she looked for ways to distract and confuse guards to clear a way to their mark without bloodshed or violence. With their extremely diffferent tactics clashing the two ended up being more of a hindrance to each other than a benefit and were quickly discovered by the guards. However they did manage to get what they came for...after being chased by the guards for a good while.  Shane snapped back to reality once he hearing a group of students walking through the halls. "I gotta work on my combat skills", he said to himself just before he stomach growled "Alright, food then training". Shifting once again he phased through the room door and flew down the halls towards the cafeteria where he was greeted by a wide assortment of...slop. "With all the money put into the tech and facilities I'm not surprised the food here sucks", he said as he grabbed a plate full of the stuff and sat at a table. It was better than what he used to eat at least.
Exiting the strobe lit room revealed a bruised and soaked Shane. A net was still caught around his foot and another on his shoulder. "God...dammit", he grunted as he looked up the rock wall to see Dimitri, Jack, and Shadow already at the finish line. However he wasn't so much disappointed but satisfied. Throughout all this he had learned many things about himself and his classmates. He'd learned that without his abilities he was lacking somewhat the stealth and finesse he once had first starting out as a thief. This would be his goal during his time at the academy. He also learned that Shadow would prove to be a valuable ally or an annoyance for what he had planned. She was the onto person-as far as he knew-who could sense the Rift in him. If she had knowledge of it she perhaps she'd be willing to share...or use it against him should their paths cross in the future. Shaking himself from his thoughts, Shane continued on to climb the rock wall. He wasnt going to leave this course incomplete that was for sure. He struggled to climb the wall, due to his injuries, and after a few slips and close calls managed to ascend to the top to find a celebrating Dimitri along with Jack and Shadow. "Not bad Tin-man, I thought I'd win this won but looks like it's yours. Same to you Shadow, maybe you've got me beat in the obstacle course department but what about a little sparring later?"
Sure thing just give me a bit to edit. Alright I think this should do, if there is a problem with that let me know.
