  • Name: August Lancaster
  • Age: 19
  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Barghest(Changeling)
  • Appearance:

  • Personality: August is naturally quiet person though he dislikes the silence his personality can cause if left alone with another person and will strike up a conversation with them if it comes to that. He is loyal and patient with others and despite being determined when it comes to reaching goals he will do all he can to avoid inconveniencing anyone else.
  • Abilities: August Lancaster is a Barghest, a monstrous shapeshifting black dog that is also historically seen as a omen of death and misfortune. As a Barghest, August has several supernatural abilities that sets him apart. His major weakness is that he has difficulty crossing running water and is totally unable to do so while transformed. Natural dogs seem to be attracted to him while cats avoid him.
    • Shapeshifting: He can transform into the form of a black dog, ranging in size from that of a family pet to a monstrous beast standing taller than a man.
    • Strength and Durability: Even in his human form August is more durable and stronger than most. In his dog form his strength is capable of turning over cars but varies with the size.
    • Invisibility: His dog form can become invisible but his movement is given away by the sound of chains.
    • Portent of Death: Rather than being the cause of death and misfortune, as is commonly believed, August can feel when an unfortunate event is soon to happen, whether by accident or design. This feeling becomes more distinct the more certain it is to occur.
  • Skills: August is an excellent card player, regardless of the game being played. This might have something to do with his feelings regarding misfortune. He is also very good at cooking, purely through his own talent.
  • Equipment: None
  • Brief Backstory: August Lancaster is a changeling, having been put into a human family in place of their own child. This was an act of mercy, rather than malice, as the original child was destined to die. His childhood was normal until his powers began to manifest, often against his will when distressed. He faced increasing difficulty while growing up outside of his own family. Being an inhuman changeling was bad enough but it is difficult to cope with being seen as an omen of death.

August left England to escape the stigma regarding his origins. He came to Japan, reasoning that it was as far as possible from his home that he might want to live. he has already spent three years there and is happy to find somewhere he can live comfortably. He has become involved in the Miura Youyh Organization but refuses to be called an official member. August is reluctant to use the full extent of his abilities.
Took me long enough.

Somewhere?

Sophia had been in a lot of meetings, both friendly and not in her time. A lot of these meetings usually ended in her being told what to do, one way or another. She didn't say much, just signed the paper and waited for whatever would come next.

What did come next was another brief interruption of consciousness and then she was standing... somewhere. more surprising she was exactly as she had been in 1990, as fit as she had ever been but currently with a lot more sense. The scenery was also as far from the mountains of Afghanistan as could be imagined. They hadn't been given any indication of what to expect while in that room but even after so many years, that was the first thing that she had imagined.

In that room they hadn't really been told anything about what to expect. Not sure of anything at the moment she walked over to the only person acting with any sort of confidence, ignoring the little... person that appeared to be having some sort of a crisis.

"Hey. Do you have any idea what to do next here?"
Not going to bother posting for Indrau, he'll just stand around and look mildly irritated with things.

  • Name: Sophia Petrov
  • Age: 51 (Now 24)
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Human
  • Appearance:

  • History: Sophia served the first handful of years of her young adult life in the Russian army during the second half of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. She became cold and hardened against hardship, performing well in almost impossible circumstances in a war that could not be won. Sophia was a combat medic, saving lives in a conflict that was becoming deadlier all the time.

After the war she moved to western Europe and became a doctor for the Russian mafia, stitching up their wounded members among other, less wholesome activities. After the fall of the Soviet Union Sophia moved to the United States where she eventually retired and moved across the border to Canada. The southern states were much to warm for her tastes.

Her vessel has taken the form of her 24 year old self, fresh from the military but tempered by age and experience.

  • Personality: Sophia retains a certain coolness in her outward appearance though in her old age she's become softer than the woman that came back from the horrors of Afghanistan. She values simplicity in action and result, prioritizing the easiest path with the cleanest outcome.

  • Abilities:

    • Mundane: Sophia retains all of her medical knowledge earned over the years and is much more capable than she was even during her time in the military. She is also trained in combat and martial arts(including Sambo and Systema) while being as fit as she ever was.
    • Extraordinary:

      • Fade: Sophia can become less visible while moving slowly and, given enough time, will totally disappear while still. Any movement disrupts this however though tiny motions such as breathing can only be discerned under ideal conditions.
      • Echo: She can hear what recently happened in an area, going back no more than an hour.
  • Equipment:

    • Medical Supplies: Basic first aid supplies along with some more serious trauma gear. Appropriate versions of modern gear.
    • Bloodless Scalpel: A forged steel scalpel, obscenely sharp though the cuts it makes do not bleed.
  • Other:N/A
And here we go.

Interested. Do characters have to come from the modern day or is everything independent of timing?

— Intersection of 5,6, & 12 —

The mind that turned its attention to Magnus was a seething den of madness. untold thousands of souls spoke back with a thunderous, battering voice in countless languages.

"You try to sway me, but do not know me. All that you think of me, my supposed loyalty and motivation behind my decisions could not be more wrong. Leave."

And then there was a brief impression of who she was. One that betrayed and was betrayed in kind. That destroyed cities, peoples and kingdoms with little more reason than that she became bored with them. She battle with her wits against the greatest military leaders, sorcerers and gods of her world and found them lacking. There was only one that would ever be her equal, in any world.

And then her mind was closed, perhaps with a distant feeling of disappointment and a more distinct one of contempt. Even The Lady, her own sister could not know Soulcatchers secrets, those held deepest in her mind. A stranger as alien as this never could.

Kuroe wasn't quite sure what to think of the two newcomers. of course she knew who they were, but given that they were supposedly 'seniors' they were quite bad at giving advice. Shizuri might have taken the criticism badly but her magical girl identity took it in stride. Being an author was all about taking those kinds of comments and sorting out the important parts.

But maybe not everyone had that kind of mental resilience.

Kuroe looked over at that new girl, the one that seemed to have received the brunt of the treatment and felt something stir in her chest. She knew that kind of feeling intimately. Hadn't her own first novel been rejected several times before finding an agent that would give her chance?

She put a smile on her face and walked over, almost bouncing with each step. Wasn't Kuroe just a character anyway? Let's add a happy ending to this chapter. She threw her arm around the dragon girl.

"Hey! That went well. We should pick up a pizza or something and head back to my apartment, it's right around the corner."

And she could have her own way after all, and no fairy could do anything about it.
