The Dead Rising [HOTD Closed]

Jose grimaced. This girl wasn't as unreliable as he had thought, but she was still too reckless (the irony of him calling another person reckless when he was punching zombies was not lost to him, however, he did have the excuse of not being able to get one); he watched her take down three zombies using a katana and knife individually, and was all set to let her watch his back, letting him deal with the remaining walkers. That didn't last too long, as a shot rang out, followed by her unceremoniously crashing into his back.

Jose stumbled for a bit, however, he was much larger than she was, so thankfully he didn't topple over. Looking around him, he realized slowly that there wasn't really any need to fight anymore - there were only five zombies left and the to the hallway was right behind them.

Making up his mind, Jose did the first thing that came into his mind: He picked up Anselma and threw her over his shoulders in a fireman carry, then proceeded to run out of there as fast as he could. Tired as he was, Anselma wasn't all that heavy to him - in fact, by contrast she was relatively tiny.

While running, he asked her: "Are you okay? Do you have any companions?"

Jose narrowed his eyes as the small voice of a young girl reached his ears. Turning around, he saw a young girl standing in the middle of the hallway. That was good, it meant that he might have some assistance - on the other hand, she seemed a bit frail to be relied on. Her voice also unwittingly drew them towards her.

He shook his head. There were still ten zombies left. He shouted at the girl: "You, help me deal with the zombies that are left!"

His shout drew the attention of the remaining undead, who turned around and focused on him. He grit his teeth, and smashed his bleeding fists into the jaw of the nearest walker, and immediately pulled back to avoid getting grabbed by another.

David blinked. "Oh boy, this isn't going to end well, is it?" he thought. Of all the things you could choose to do, you had to make things worse. "That water might as well be oil, which you are graciously pouring all over the fire . . . literally."

The tall boy cleared his throat and stepped in front of Cinia. Facing down the small(er) girl, David grinned weakly. "Now, let's not do anything rash here, right? Come one, the year just started, let's not ruin it with petty fighting, yeah?"

David walked through the gates, grinning as he observed all the people around him. Apparently, everyone here had abilities like he did, and more importantly, they were around the same age. The large young man was looking forward to meeting a few of them.

Looking around, David wondered how everything would be kept under control here. It wasn't that he didn't trust the students to control themselves, but . . . well, accidents happen; kind of like those two girls that looked like dynamites strapped to each other and lit like the Fourth of July.

@Mtntopview Then you're f*cked :D Look, I said punching them worked surprisingly well for killing zombies, not that it was something you should do. I think everyone will agree with me when I say that even if you know you could kill a zombie by punching them, you would rather use a weapon instead, right?

Actually, the method to killing zombies with a punch is by shaking the brain. You don't even have to shatter the skull. People get KO'ed when you smack their jaws hard enough because shaking the brain disturbs its functions. People wake up once the brain is able to compensate for the shaking, however, since zombies are technically dead, they no longer have this function.

At best, zombies will be permanently wrecked and twitching on the ground, at worst, they'll be dead.

And yeah, about the range issue: That's why I asked if they could sprint. Kiting them around is an excellent method to deal with slow zombies.

Inside the hotel, about one floor up, Jose stood in front of a thick line of dead bodies. Or dead-dead bodies. Or deceased un-dead. Whichever fit more, really. He sighed as sweat dripped down his face, and he looked forward. The thirty-plus not-moving dead-things asides, there were still ten standing and walking - not much of them left, if you thought about it, but then again, there wasn't much left in him either.

Jose looked down on his knuckles. They were covered in thick layers of tape, but he could feel them bruise underneath. His stamina asides, his fists couldn't take much more either. He grit his teeth.

It was his bad luck, he supposed, that the one place he had run to was the one place that had absolutely no weapons of any sort. He wrapped his fists up and punched them as a last resort, hoping to maybe unbalance them for a moment to run, but surprisingly enough, after going down, they stayed down. Jose decided that he might have a chance at getting out alive and unharmed after all, and so began the slaughter.

Thirty minutes after it began, more than thirty were on the ground, with ten or so left. Jose hoped that he could last long enough to deal with them.
