Today's the first time in a long time that I've felt empty. Not even sad or tired, just empty. This quarantine is getting to me more than I thought.

@Jessica Bunny: You live in America! College is optional (and expensive) and around you is opportunity. I believe you can make it!

Karen was taken slightly aback at the abrupt end of their conversation. She had rather liked it, and was anticipating a long intelligent discussion. That Bishop had ended it so quickly was disappointing, but perhaps he was not as keen to the idea as she was. Another thing she would need to learn, then, was what he did like to talk about. Karen decided that from this moment on, Bishop would be her peg for what 'normal kids' were like.

Karen tilted her head curious as to why he had brought up his birthday. Perhaps he was celebrating it? Karen noted he seemed happy for it, at least going by the smile had on his face. Then she raised a brow as he invited her to attend it.

Having never attended other kids birthdays asides her own, she considered it in silence for a minute. What was she supposed to do? What was appropriate to wear, and what was she to expect. She knew nothing that could prepare her, and suppose she made a mistake? So many unknowns and . . .

"Wait." Karen halted suddenly and stared at Bishop, an unidentifiable, yet unmistakably intense light shone in her eyes. "Did you perhaps . . . ask to be my friend?" Karen leaned forward, her attention wholly given to him.

As the girls rushed towards her, the azure one frowned. There were too many today. Far too many. It wasn't unheard of, but it was unusual. The last time something like this had happened was a hundred years ago, when that occurred. Prepping her spear, she settled into a low crouched, eyes flickering about, and chose a target. Holly was the closest, so she would have to deal with her first.

Propelling herself forwards, she was lost to the others in a sudden burst of movement, going at a speed untraceable by the normal eye. The only indication of where she had gone was the trail of dust that had followed in her wake. The next time she appeared, it was behind Holly and above the shadows that hunted her. She spun in the air and her spear-arm made a grand sweep sidewards, the 2 meter long weapon cleaved through the shadows with ease. The cloaked figures well to the ground, their mist like bodies liquefying into a dark black substance. Landing on the ground, she turned to her next targets: the shadows after the Genevieve.

As she was about to charge, she noticed the group of shadows around the Ingrid were in line with those of Genevieve's. Quickly seizing the moment, she switched her hold on the spear, its head facing downwards, and pulled it far back. Without so much as a cry of effort, she launched the weapon forwards. The power that came from the throw was unnatural; the crack in the air that followed its wake was the echo of the sound barrier breaking. It tore through both groups of shadows in a second and landed behind the Sasha.

She had planned to move towards her spear and tear through the last group, when a tingle ran down her spine. Her instincts blaring, her eyes widened as she saw a shadow roll forward, just to the side of Sasha. This shadow was a titan compared to the rest, as large as elephant on its legs, with an unmistakably malevolent air. Rather than a mist-like entity, however, this one more closely resembled a torrent of water, its mouth arms and mouth shifting chaotically. It's movements were erratic, yet rapid, and it quickly closed in on Sasha.

She knew that she wouldn't reach Sasha in time, but she would try.

Once again disappearing, she pushed her legs as fast as they could take her. The large shadow loomed over Sasha, and its smaller counterparts hung back, either afraid or unwilling to get in its way. It bent down, opened its large, hollow mouth and bit into Sasha . . .

Or, at least, it would have, had the girl not pushed her out of the way. Still, though a death-dealing wound had been avoided, Sasha did not come away unscathed: the entirety of her right side was gashed and scarred were its non-existent teeth ripped through. Despite these wounds, the girl tossed Sasha a short distance away, staring warily at the great shadow before her.

"You girls! Take her and run! Keep moving west until you find another group of girls dressed like me, and don't stop moving!" she bellowed. Sweat trickled down her forehead. Fighting like this was going to be difficult with them around; she wasn't able to grab her weapon in the time she took to save Sasha, and the monster in front of her was not an easy one, unlike the small shadows earlier. If the girls were still around, she couldn't fight and protect them at the same time. They had to leave - it was risky, but it was better than being here. "What are you doing!? get out of here!"
Yo, is this still open? I've got a mind for a character who mains Nami.
#justgirlthings xD

I can tell this will be fun.
@The ghost in black

Acknowledging Aleksandra's presence with a small "Good morning," Meruin raised a thumbs up as she suggested breakfast. Really, anything was good as long as she didn't have to prepare it. Cheek planted on the table Meruin looked at Aleksandra as she asked for her preference for breakfast. Meruin, just eager to have a meal nodded. "Anything is fine."
@Cinderella Man once you get a post up I'll get things rolling :)
@Cinderella Man No problem, I know the feeling xD anyway, I like it. Go mov 'er over to the character tab then.

Mariana . . . ? Karen wondered about this boy across her. He seemed so resignedly depressed a lot of the time he was speaking. Were kids her age also this forlorn? She hoped not - being surrounded by this kind of dejection en masse would fray upon her mind slowly, like rot fitting itself on a flowers roots.

"But that's circular logic," Karen pointed out. She paused again, closing her eyes as she tried to recall a particularly difficult word to remember. "Not to mention . . . tau-to-logical. Lesser and below are the same thing, so saying a lesser human is below you is like saying a round circle is circular - it doesn't explain anything."

Karen paused again. She stared at Bishop silently, contemplatively, trying to imagine him answering her question for the outcome. At last, she spoke: "Actually, this entire conversation is meaningless. There is no lesser and greater among us, so we can't very well answer what we like or dislike using that line of thought. Perhaps we should try a different avenue of approach? Maybe we can discover a better answer looking some place else."
@LordofthePies

Karen raised a brow. Bishop seemed slightly different somehow, as though his demeanor had switched into something else, but not anything Karen could pick up. Again she blamed it on her woefully inept social skills; more reason to work on this as soon as possible. Karen did not like not knowing, which was especially true when the knowledge concerned her. She took a few seconds to ponder on her next words, something that could get him to clarify what he meant without coming off as nosy.

"I don't know of anyone that could bear to be stuck in a situation like that, having no one you could truly be close to, but, well . . . I admit that it is somewhat true," shrugged Karen, her eyes flicking from his face, to the white rat he was petting, "but it also begs the question of what defines 'someone below myself'; and that's a definition even I myself am not sure about, lacking as I am in a social life. What would you consider as 'someone below yourself' Bishop?"

@LordofthePies I get the feeling that Bishop might be misunderstanding something but . . . lol, let's see how this plays out :D
