About Me

I'm a roleplayer by night, but by day I'm a software engineer. I have been programming in some capacity since I was eight, and once I discovered programming I simply never stopped writing code. Some of that code I've written was for this very website, and maybe some day I'll add some more. However, most of my work is done in boring corporate land.

I discovered programming in a game called ROBLOX, and coincidentally that is also where I first discovered roleplaying. One day I was exploring the forums, and noticed a roleplaying section. Curious, I took a look and I was instantly hooked. The content was mostly in the Free RP level, with a small amount of Casual tier games, but at the time even that was high quality content to me. Over the years my interest in the game faded, and although I continued programming after ultimately leaving the community, I did not continue roleplaying.

Years later, I gradually started wanting to get back into roleplaying. I began googling around, and after looking at a few different websites I finally decided that the Guild seemed to be the best of them all. I made an account on December 13, 2014, and started jumping into some games; I quickly decided on sticking to mostly High Casual, but eventually moved more towards Advanced as I realized that most of the games I was in were easily at that level anyway. This was right around the time that Mahz was working on rebuilding the website from the ground up, and after chatting with him for a while in the IRC during some site downtime I decided that I wanted to help.

I ultimately didn't contribute too much, but nevertheless I was the first (and so far, only one of two?) non-anonymous users to help Mahz with developing the website. As a reward, after he implemented the trophy system I was awarded the special Benevolent Cyberpunk trophy, which gives me a special userbit that looks like this:

Victoria/Angel

Victoria nodded in response to Jinxy's concern, trying to appear appreciative but probably failing. Before she could say anything the conversation had already moved on, everyone else seemingly either not noticing or outright ignoring what happened.

"Yes, the armory sounds like an excellent target," she agreed. "That should draw most of the officers away, but we should be long gone by the time they get there. Three guards should be no problem," she added in response to Amir's comment.

Pausing for breath, she finished, "So, unless anyone else has something to add, it seems to me that we have everything sorted out?"
Victoria/Angel

Victoria glared at Trish in shock. The Life Support. She knew everyone in this room had committed crimes, and she certainly couldn't pretend to be the angel that her alias suggests. But this... frankly, it's evil. Sure, the GA officers she couldn't care less about, and Sonny would certainly make it out, even if Amir didn't warn him (honestly, Victoria doesn't know why she cares about Sonny's well-being, but she does). But even an optimistic estimate would mean hundreds of innocent people killed; men, women, and... children.

Victoria looked back, wondering why nobody else had come out yet. They should be here by now! She considered trying to call for help, when suddenly a small, faint voice made her heart skip a beat. "TORI!" Immediately, even as she tried to reason with herself, knowing it was a terrible idea, she ran towards the voice. Her voice.

Just as suddenly as it had began, the flashback ended. Victoria realized she was holding her head in her hands, practically in the fetal position. Relax, girl, it was just a flashback, she thought to herself as she tried to regain her composure. Would the others believe it was just from the drugs? Oh how she wished that was the case, but even if they didn't there was no way she would ever explain it to them. Never.

Sitting up again, although still noticeably shaken up, she turned to Trish. "Absolutely not happening. Sure, there are plenty of people on this station I wouldn't mind to see die. But there are even more innocent lives. Men, women, children," she reminded. "Place it somewhere else – anywhere else – but I will have no hand in killing innocent bystanders." And with that, Victoria downed the rest of her glass; at this point, she needed it. Who would've thought that the druggie would be the voice of reason?
Victoria/Angel

Victoria nodded. "Normally I'm the one causing the trouble, but I can do that. I'll make sure you get as much time as you need," she promised arrogantly. Of course, who could blame her? A few GA officers vs a Psyche; it doesn't take much to know who would win that fight. "Just to have a better idea of what it is I'll be helping you do," she added, "what does your distraction entail?"

Now she turned to the captain. "Somebody should go with her," she suggested, gesturing towards the pilot. "I mean, it's not that I don't trust you, but, well... it'd be a damn shame if we went through all this trouble just to be left stranded on the station, wouldn't it?" Victoria took another drink from her glass. She didn't expect the pilot to leave them, in truth, as that'd be quite a stupid thing to do. Still, you could never be too careful, especially with the way things are now.
Victoria

It was clear to Victoria that this man – Amir, did he say? – didn't think much of her. Could she blame him? Not really, but she didn't particularly appreciate it regardless. Taking a glance at the decanter sitting on the table, she decided to give him some food for thought.

Wearing her best poker face, Victoria observed Amir closely, as if a predator sizing up its prey. She concentrated on the decanter as she has become so used to doing, urging it to levitate above the table. Tipping over, the decanter carefully poured its contents into a glass, before gently returning to the table. Now the glass began to move, flying gracefully into Victoria's waiting hand.

Noting Amir's reaction to her demonstration, she took a sip of the drink. Swallowing, she stared at the glass, failing to mask the surprise in her expression. "This is... much better than what Sonny would usually serve at the bar, even to those who asked for the best brew he had. He must really like this Amir," she mused.

Finally, she spoke. "In my opinion, getting paid off by the authorities is foolish. Sure, you get paid handsomely – assuming they don't arrest you anyways. But then you're back to the drawing board, with no job all the while. And rebuilding a reputation, finding more work... that takes more effort than it's worth. So in that respect, you don't need to worry about my loyalty."

After a brief pause, she continued, "As for your offer... I note that you haven't actually told us anything. However, it certainly seems to me that Sonny trusts you, and I see no reason to question his judgement. So... I'm in. You may call me Angel," she finished, with the slightest hint of an amused smirk at the door, in the general direction of where Sonny surely was now, working the bar. Leaning back, Victoria took another sip from her glass, waiting for the final girl to speak.
I get the feeling that this will be progressing much faster than a week, at least for the beginning.
Victoria

"Damn it, Sonny..." Victoria thought as she heard the old man summon her. But she couldn't really be that mad; the former ring-leader had promised a way off this station, and perhaps some money as well. The money alone was enough to get her to go, as she was running low on Psyche and that stuff isn't cheap. Especially on the black market. Of course, that money wouldn't mean much stuck on a station crawling with GA men, but even if this plan fell through she was confident she could get away. Arrogant? Nah.

She looked at the loaded needle on the table longingly for a moment, then made her way towards where she'd heard his voice. She barely stumbled at all, as she had only just been getting started; the night is still young. As she walked in, Victoria noticed two other girls were already present, as well as Sonny and the man who she assumed was their "employer." She still wasn't convinced that this was anything more than a lonely man paying for one last good time before the GA came for him, but she knew very well that Sonny had put an end to that business quite a while ago.

"Sonny, couldn't you have waited a bit longer? There's a perfectly good needle out there calling my name," Victoria complained without giving a proper greeting at all. She sat down, crossing her legs immediately, so as to make it clear that nobody in this room would be bedding her tonight. Or tomorrow. Or ever, really. "Though to be fair, I could do worse," she thought, looking at the man that was to be her "employer" as she waited for whatever would happen next.

With the images however and something to note is that there would have to be work done in order to obtain copyright licencing, or permission to use.

It'd be much easier to make it clear that the GM chooses the images, not anyone involved with the site, and remove anything that someone comes to Mahz about. There isn't really any need to make sure everyone has permission to use what they do, only to make sure that the problem is eliminated as soon as it is brought up. Perhaps punish anyone who causes problems with this, as a way to encourage users to figure out if they are allowed to use something beforehand?

And I would probably leave them on personally, although the option to disable them on a case-by-case basis would be nice. I.e. one RP has a really great background that I want to see, but another one is just "unicorn vomit" which I don't want to see)

Still too large on android as well. Could it possibly be related to the rendering issue Mahz cited as the source of the inconsistent font sizes as well?

@Ellri Odd, looks fine in win8 firefox, and that's with a terrible laptop resolution (on a desktop. Not my choice). Not sure what could be different between the win7 and win8 versions.
