We lack ranged combatants and even a fully armored knight was wary of an english archer.
Technically Garrett is a capable medium range Mounted Archer. But yes we do lack long range
Garrett can do that one! dunno about the rock. But punching stuff is good.
@Raineh DazeTrue. But to use your own argument against you. Fantasy setting XD so it would be concievable to see, either, or both. Sir Garrett uses what is basically a Dothraki Khopesh so it is clearly a fantasy setting.
@Raineh DazeAgreed! And you may be correct about SOME rapiers however dueling blades dont ALWAYS have a cutting edge since it is WAY less effective.
Hey so can I clear something up really quick? This is not actually directed at anyone at all I just felt like putting it out there as like an information thing.
This is a pretty standard rapier:
Okay so you will notice this blade is quite thin and garbage for cutting. You can tell because cutting blades are thicker and weighted differently (usually towards the end of the blade) piercing blades like the rapier are thin and usually thicker at the base.
So this is a dagger and you will notice the base is super thick and tappers to a point which means it is great for stabbing but not as good for cutting stuff. (mostly)
Alright just for comparison this beauty is a Khopesh, you will notice that it is hella out of wack in terms of balance since it has weight on the end of it. But its also garbage for stabbing.
Now for the point of this whole thing.
This is full plate armor. You will notice that there is some weird tapering on the breastplate and on other parts of the armor. So what happens when you try to stab someone in this armor that tapering causes the blade to skip off the armor and do nothing basically. So for armor you need something specifically for dealing with Armor. A la: warhammer, mace, a mortar stroke from a long sword or a half sword stab to a joint with a big heavy blade, or even a dagger for punching through the armor.
The point i'm trying to make is a rapier is useless against any kind of properly constructed plate metal armor. The blade just skips off the armor, the person can basically assault you with impunity while your blade skips off the armor. Not to mention most rapiers are not even bladed on the edges so the person in armor could in theory just grab the thin sword. Snap it. and then continue attacking the rapier wielder with no threat to themselves.
Again this is not meant as a burn to anyone or anything stupid like that, I just see a lot of people that like the idea of a rapier wielding character which is super cool and means the character kicks ass in unarmored duels. Its just using a rapier is a terrible idea against other knights, you basically just lose the fight.
Again no disrespect to anyone or any characters. This is just an informational PSA

@VitaVitaARwell I mean that's not always intuitive given the prevalence of Holy orders in Thaln. Okay so what's the deal with Velts humans. Got any info on them? I'm feeling motivated so I was thinking about fleshing out then hills people I accidentally created if that is okay with you. Just to give Garrett some depth

@VitaVitaARhey just got in from work and I've been meaning to ask what does Thaln's government look like. Is it a monarchy? Or a Theocracy or what?
