“They didn’t inconvenience me but I get the impression they have never met some from the hills of Velt. Which is understandable since we are usually considered barbarians.” Not correcting the assumption he eyed the maids and then Marianne. “I can’t imagine growing up with someone always hanging over my shoulder or trying to do everything for me. It would have driven me crazy as a child. Then again it was never an option. Val, go wrangle that horse or Val, go get get enough water for the rest of the evening was a rather common theme for my childhood.” Sir Garrett chuckled at the memories.

At the mention of waking her Sir Garrett frowned pensively. Apparently magic had quite the cost associated with it. Then again he’d always known that, it was just that the magic users he was accustomed to tended to steal what they needed from others; hence his opinion. “I think I need to apologize to you. I have a very low opinion of magic wielders and my opinion of you initially was not the greatest. I know I shouldn’t assume things like that but I was taught from an early age that magic was a short cut and its price was always steeper than you it appeared from the outside.” 

“As for dining, the concept of rank when one is eating is rather foreign to me to be honest. While I certainly understand the concept of rank and nobility; it never has factored in who I ate with. Such a thing is too important to separate by rank.” Pausing for a moment he considered the reason for such a thing “I would assume that the reason is that eating certain foods is a luxury for the nobility here; that and my understanding is that it also a place for politics.” Sir Garrett furrowed his brows a little at Marianne’s animation before he simply accepted it and smiled in return as she continued to talk. 

Seeing the annoyance on her face as she turned towards the maids Sir Garrett looked directly at the maid who had let it slip and winked with a mischievous smirk. “In all honesty it's rather difficult to tell them apart so I couldn’t tell you who mentioned it…..M'Lady”

The mischievous smile crossed his face again as she turned back to face him. Folding his hands on the table before himself he chuckled. “Your secret is safe with me I promise.”

“….M'Lady..”
