Also, how come everyone apparently has braces? Does the rest of the world just have terrible teeth?

.... ZOMBIE DOOMSDAY!

Sorry, had to get that out there.

But yeah, Apocalypse can adapt to pretty much anything he's exposed to. He can even copy the powers of those he fights. If the Ethereal makes the mistake of killing/fighting him too often, he'd eventually learn to use psionic powers. He copied Superboy's tactile telekinesis, cyborg superman's hacking abilities, steel's nanites, and he even managed to adapt to and control the Phantom Zone.
@Shikaru
Yes, sorry, I assumed you were already aware of that.
@Flamelord
"Sir! We've finished scanning the planet!"

"And? What did you find?"

"Sir, the power level..... IT'S OVER 9000!!!"
@Savato
That could certainly kill him, although it again wouldn't work as a long-term failsafe because eventually he would become immune to it. By simply being in and around the effects of Green Lantern Rings he was able to develop a resistance to it. If you filled him with Reishi and immediately detonated it that would kill him, but if you left it there as a failsafe it would become steadily less effective until he was completely immune to it. Hence the problem with attaching a failsafe to Apocalypse/Doomsday. Given time, he'll adapt his way past any barrier, and escape any prison. This is why he's often described as the inevitable destruction of the Earth, a being that cannot be stopped and only delayed.

A chrysalid probably wouldn't work, because it would need to grow in his internal organs. Which he doesn't have. Furthermore, his body is made of a material more durable than most alien alloys. The outwards force of the growth would affect both the chrysalid larva and the body, and most likely crush the larvae before it could become a Chrysalid. And even if it did succeed, it would simply slow him down. His chest would explode outwards, but that'll just take him a minute to fix.

Everyone in DC has tried to control Doomsday. Brainiac psychically mind-controlled him, but then he became immune. Vision implanted his consciousness into the nervous system, but then he became immune. Superman lobotomized him, but he got better. Nothing can control him indefinitely, and anything that would kill him will only slow him down, and make him stronger.

However, I made Apocalypse more intelligent than Doomsday for a reason. He needed to be shown he could be overpowered, but he's willing to deal. Sure, he'll be a Wild Card ready to turn on the Ethereal at a moment's notice, but he'd probably agree to an alliance.
@Savato
I could make a post on what they find, or we could just have him reappear later.
@Snarfulblast
He's blasting Rex and Mithias. If Roy lacked the common sense to run like a bitch, he's blasting Roy as well.
@Savato
Ya, I assumed this was basically a high-powered psi-lance. The Ethereal's 'best shot', as it were.

Also, I think I'll have the Chaos Gods start doing shit in nova's next post.

Apocalypse roared and raged, tearing a path of destruction as the Ethereal carefully kept it's distance. After but moments of rampaging through the city, the Ethereal's trap closed around him. Using the combined force of the Psychic Field and the Psi-Lance, it was able to pull off a powerful shot to the head. A lance of high-powered psionic energy shot at Apocalypse's face, as it turned to meet the blast. It was in that moment that the Ethereal realized it had found, perhaps, Apocalypse's single weakness. The only known way to even halt it's rampage, to get past it's indestructible physiology. The beam struck it in the face, and it was force back. Powerful energies tore their way through his flesh, revealing his heavily armoured skull beneath. The single organ that existed within Apocalypse's body was the brain, the central nervous system that ran the massive lump of organic material.

Slowly, the purple light cleared away, the psi-field falling. What it revealed was Apocalypse, standing upright. However, it's face seemed to have been stripped of flesh, torn down and almost hollowed out. It's skull remained, battered but sturdy. But it's brain seemed to have been destroyed, and the Ethereal could tell with a glance that the creature had been killed. It's consciousness had been snuffed out, all thought processes failing as the behemoth toppled to the ground. The giant was felled.

However, the Ethereal was not so easily fooled. While it could tell the being's conscious mind had been destroyed, it could tell with equal ease that the creature's body remained alive. Much more slowly than before, the wounds on it's face healed, and it's brain began to rebuild itself. Basterbine would be able to tell that the creatures Spiritual Energy remained, focused around the body and unable to leave despite it's apparent death. It was clear that this creature would not allow mere death to halt it's rampage, and would revive itself, given enough time. By their best estimates, the process would take about a day. What they were not aware of, of course, was that once Apocalypse had been revived it's adaptive evolution system would have kicked in. It's revived form would be faster, stronger, and almost completely immune to psionic attacks. Such was the power of Doomsday, inherited by this creature.
