"Indeed. I believe there is something within this place known as a Terminal. This device would allow us to travel between worlds, and potentially to return to our own worlds." He didn't speak of his desire to unite the multiverse under his rule, knowing full well that they were most likely far more occupied with their personal dilemma. Once he had delivered them to the safety of their own homes, only then would he call in favours from them. "This artifact marks the first step in understanding what brought us here, and why. It's also the first tool we have to fix this problem, to return us all to where we rightfully belong." The second thing he didn't tell them was his concern for his own world. His presence on the Golden Throne, whilst torturous, had kept him alive to fight the Chaos Gods. With him seperated from the throne, most likely the entirety of Terra had been devoured by the Warp. The Ruinous Powers would be free to wreak havoc on the universe, and warp travel would have become impossible for the Imperium. He wished to return to his world, simply that he could return his children to his tutelage, to save them in their darkest hour. If there were anything left to save.

Nova looked from trinket to trinket, briefly inspecting each and every one of them as he searched for the connection to the other world. The problem was that he had no idea what form this artifact would take, and this lack of knowledge further prevented him from enlisting the help of those present. He would have to feel it out, as it were. To test the waters with his psychic abilities, and find the source of the energy that had originally brought him here. Little did he know that Frisk was only a little deeper into the Gift Shop, and had already found the Terminal.

Valentus didn't even care as David attempted to stand up to him. He simply spoke through the man, as he marched towards the entrance of the bunker. His sheer presence would seem to push David back as he advanced. "In about thirty seconds, the Daemon will arrive. Billions of powerful warp beings that make your little weapons look like toy guns. Every single surviving living being on this planet will be brutally tortured to death, leaving it a barren husk covered in the flayed corpses of everything you ever fought to protect." Valentus stood inches from the man's face, his breath rasping through his helmet. "I'm going to hold this bunker against these things, and you're going to either get out of my way or die. The same goes for any other man. Tell your false prophets to follow me, or we'll see how their little tricks work against the infinite armies of the Warp."

David never got to answer, as two events happened shortly after one another. The first was that Valentus was addressed by a voice from behind him, and as he glanced to see what manner of being had snuck up on him, he found himself faced with the void. An absolute null, a blank space. The absence of light, an abyss, the antithesis of life itself. It was a Blank, an Anti-Psyker, one of the cursed beings who could null the power of the Warp with their mere presence. To Valentus' eyes it was the face of terror itself, an impossibility that seemed to try and draw him in, to lock his mind into the materium, to turn him into a soulless monstrosity like the Necron. An abomination of life, rightfully despised for it's abominable form.

However, this didn't even begin to compare to the next catastrophe. At first it seemed like another Blank had stepped up, and yet this being seemed different. Valentus could not hear the whisper of it's mind, and yet it clearly had a soul. He could sense it's presence in the Warp. Of course, this became swiftly irrelevant as the being rose, eyes glowing red, the power of the Warp flowing around it. A creature of chaos, it channeled fire to blast aside David, even as it advanced on Valentus. The Grey Knight could feel the creature's presence beating at his mind, attempting to shatter his armour of faith and let the Chaos leak in. Like a lance of agony the psionic attack struck him, and yet he weathered it. He found himself facing a newborn champion of Chaos, who had willingly accepted the embrace of the Ruinous Powers. Such a being would by definition be one worthy of the gifts of the Chaos Gods, a vile despicable creature of pure evil and destructive might. Such a being could not be allowed to live in this world.

"Run. Barricade the bunker with your best men and your biggest guns. Shoot everything that approaches the bunker, including me." Valentus faced the creature before him, fire blazing around his form. He faced off against this menace, even as he ordered his men and allies to abandon him. For every moment they spent in the presence of this being was a curse, a taint upon them and their minds. He was a Grey Knight, trained from the moment of his birth to resist the power of Chaos, his gene-seed hailing directly from the Emperor himself. He was the bastion upon which humanity would stand, the spear that would slay the darkness, the shield that would guard them from the horrors of the Warp. He was the Hammer of the Emperor, and he was about to wreck some serious shit.

Waves of flame shot from Valentus' body, crushing and burning any who had chosen not to run. He was a pillar not just of flame, but of sanity, in this storm of chaos and death. The Warp flowed around him, and yet it was purified by his presence. He was a Paladin of the Grey Knights, Brother Captain of the First Legion, and his every word was anathema to the beings of Chaos. And as he gestured at Mithias and Rex, waves of flame flowed out from his body to wash over them. Divine fire bathed the area, turning stone to lava in mere seconds, turning metal armour to sludge in the blink of an eye. The full power of the Apocalypse, channeled through his being as he aimed to destroy his opponents absolutely.

High in the sky, the air seemed to burn, as meteorites rained down from the sky. And yet they weren't rock or ice, but the flesh and bone of the beings of the Warp. Raging Daemon swept down from the heaven in legions of hundreds, great beasts of fire and death. A Greater Daemon of Tzeentch flattened a city block with a gesture, as Bloodletters tore through the streets. The Daemonettes of Slaanesh relentlessly hunted down the survivors of the Chaos, torturing and raping them to death upon discovery. The Plaguebearers of Nurgle spread every disease known to man and many more, their very bodies a twisted host for viruses and bacteria. This very world was being torn asunder by the forces of Chaos, and this bunker might be the last beacon of hope. Any who did not make their way to it were assuredly doomed, as they would be annihilated in the coming purge.

Eh, I found Long War to stretch out the vanilla gameplay so long it dragged along, to the extent that it could barely hold my interest.

Regardless, that explains how your version of the Ethereal is so much more powerful than the one I remember.
Also, gosh darnit, Yoh is adorable ^_^
@Savato
Long war MASSIVELY ups the power of Ethereals. In standard Xcom you can kill the uber ethereal with two sniper shots to the head, ignoring all the other Ethereals in the room. If you know what you're doing, he doesn't even get a turn to do shit.

Long War ups the difficulty of the game immensely. But if you're basing the char on Long War, that explains why I've been underestimating him fairly consistently.
@Savato
It deals 10 damage, which makes it slightly stronger than a Heavy Plasma, but only by 1 point of damage on average. But I decided it would deal a significant amount of damage, but not tear through him entirely.
@Savato
Apocalypse raised his head to confront the massive figure before him, roaring in annoyance. However, he was not a being for fear, and he could take down beings of such size with relative ease. However it already knew that his weakened state would make fighting hard, and his opponent's apparent psychic power would get in the way. He took a step, ready to make his assault, when a blast of psychic energy struck him from the front. He was pushed backwards, a lance of psionic energy striking him from the front, attempting to push it's way through his body. He growled, and as he stood once more a large wound could be seen in his chest. Apocalypse had no internal organs, however, being an almost solid block of matter. Not a single drop fell from his body, and his chest was already beginning to heal. The creature shot forward, strafing to avoid further hits, and closed the distance in a moment.

Apocalypse jumped up like a rocket, launching another titanic blow. His fist hit the creature right in the face with the power of a small nuclear missile, the mere shockwaves strong enough to shatter the creature's every bone. Or so he thought. For his fist merely struck the concrete walls of a skyscraper, even as it began to collapse under the force of the blow. His opponent seemed not to have moved, and yet he didn't seem to be able to find his balance, to find his aim.

Roaring, he shot from building to building, tearing down the area. He would reach the Ethereal eventually, by sheer virtue of running out of other shit to tear down as he began flattening the city block. However, the ethereal would have a massive advantage at the moment. The effects of the psionics would eventually work out, however, and Apocalypse was clearly not tiring. If this were turned into a war of attrition, it was clear that Apocalypse's adaptive capabilities would win it the day.
..... ima be generous with the Psi Lance, and assume it's boosted based on what's in the game.
@Punished Homura
You mind if I introduce the Chaos Gods as a means to nerf the Emperor? At the moment, he's pretty much unstoppable. If he wanted, he could destroy all life currently on the planet with relative ease, or simply toss the worlds into the sun. However if he has to hold off the Chaos Gods, he'd be reduced to the level of power he held during the Horus Heresy. While I'm a fan of powerful characters, he's a bit too OP for my taste, compared to the other characters running around.

"Tch. The words of a coward, not willing to face the consequences of their actions." The Emperor narrowed his eyes, clearly disgusted by this offer. "I believe we have reached the limit of what we can do here. I will solve whatever problem caused us to be pulled here, and simultaneously I will address the issue you are too afraid to confront. I had hoped that out goals could coincide, but I have no time for those who would sit at the sidelines and watch as entire worlds are brought to ruin." The Emperor stood up in his shiny new suit of armour, and marched off of his throne. "Our conversation is over. Return to whatever dealings your organization performs, and I will personally engage the task at hand. Your representative is free to leave, or remain, as they wish."

The Emperor cast out his mind, and searched this world for some sort of interdimensional signature. He was able to quickly locate the nearby terminal, which was near several lifeforms. Pleasantly surprised, Nova noted Gojira-san and Yoh to be among them. He then opened a portal to their location, traveling through the Warp. There was no need to maintain a guard on the palace, as only a fool would attempt to take it. And he had no intention of seeing Akina out. Thus, he was free to personally investigate the Terminals.

The Emperor emerged from the Warp Portal into the gift shop, his large frame and divine aura instantly filling the place. He could sense that a terminal was located in this area, and he would use it to further his research into transdimensional travel. Of course, he could also sense that several new enemies had made themselves known near Starkiller. However, he was more interested in this new discovery, and he would deal with the enemies later on. After all, beings of their status were of little consequence to him. "Gojira, Yoh. Greetings once again. I believe there is some device in this area, which could hold the clue to interdimensional travel. I should ask how you were so quick to locate such an important artifact."
