Somebody, please kill me now. Make it painless, if possible. I beg you.
"An Ursa, huh?" Asvoria commented, showing admiration for such a large and somewhat magnificent creature in front of her. "Are you trying to fight me?" She asked with quite the inquisitive look on her face.

And then from the very beginning, when Roman and Junior's crew find Ruby at the Dust store...

Ruby: "Are you... robbing me?"

Moment of ass-kicking commences.

@Marymalade I claim the "Most Awkward Landing" trophy for myself :P

@Pyromania99 I like your callback to the first episode. Heh.
@Kaithas To give an example, Cyra uses her Semblance at a low level virtually all the time, because of the way it makes her feel. Her's was first triggered when she was relatively young, which combined with its passive nature, makes her use of it very instinctual.
So, that may be familiar to some people here.
Cyra Zylven - Beacon Cliff - Tuesday Morning

Cyra knelt on her platform, eyes closed, her breath’s deep and even through her nose. Her shields rested on the ground at her sides, hiding her tightly clenched fists. The headmaster’s words were a low drone in her ears, bits and pieces coming through now and again, but for the most part Cyra just tuned out the world, focusing instead on the ground beneath her.

It was a state she went into often, when her worries and nerves were getting the better of her. It was a useful side effect of her Semblance; when she connected with the ground, she genuinely felt a part of it, her small body merging with the vastness of the planet. It made all that fear seem smaller than what she had been previously, and her thoughts reached a place of calm. By the end of today, I will have a partner. A team. It will happen. Whomever they may be, I will deal with it as it comes.

A loud ka-thunk startled her out of her meditation, causing her to look around. The student at the end to her right was missing. What! Where did- A second ka-thunk broke the silence, and the second student was thrown into the air by the platform beneath him. They're launchpads? She looked down at her platform, panic closing off her throat. No, no, nonononono. This isn't good, this isn't good! Her Semblance only worked if she was touching the ground, if she was launched into the air then she would lose that connection. She would be small again.

A third launch. Two more and it would be her turn. If she tried, she might be able to anchor herself to the plate, holding herself secure. Of course, even if it worked, which it probably wouldn't, she would just end up having her face driven into the dirt, which would break her concentration (not to mention her neck) and then send her rolling over the cliff. Failing spectacularly on the first day; everyone would be talking about her for weeks.

Fourth launch. One more. Wait, Ozpin said something about finding crystals? Obviously that is where we're being launched towards. It is part of the exercise. So preventing the launch would be a failure. Fifth launch. She was next. There was no other choice but to accept that, for at least a brief time, she would be airborne. Taking another breath through her nose, she relaxed her hold on the earth and rose, keeping her knees bent in preparation. If nothing else, at least the ground will always be there to catch me.

Emerald Forest

She was airborne. The wind howled in her ears, screaming for dominance. She would not give it. She was Cyra Zylvan, she would endure. So long as she had her shields and the earth beneath her feet, she would endure. She opened her eyes and smiled behind her bandanna.

A smile that quickly vanished. Trees. There was nothing but trees stretching out beneath her. How could she have forgotten about the fucking trees! They would not be as welcoming to her arrival as the earth would be. She might have avoided faceplanting on the first day, but instead had traded it in for the possibility of being impaled. Because apparently that was much more preferable. No, no, stop it! Obviously this is part of the exercise. You never know how you might need to be deployed or what situations you might find yourself in while fighting Grimm. All I have to do is make it through the trees to the ground, and I’ll be fine. Enduring things is something I can do. Curling her legs into her chest, she locked her shields in front of her and prayed for the ground to meet her quickly.

One by one, the trees snapped and splintered before her, sending her into a tumble. One caught the edge of her shield, spinning her sideways, and she was flung about by two more until at last her momentum was spent and gravity fully asserted itself. Unlocking her shields as she fell, Cyra desperately scrabbled to grab hold of a branch, but nothing firm would hold her. When she finally came to a stop, she hung upside down, arms hanging past her head as she glared at the ground five feet below her. "You didn't catch me."

She looked up her body and groaned. It wasn't breaking her neck from faceplanting off a launchpad, or being impaled on a tree. No, instead it would be her shoelaces tangled around a branch that would do her in today.
@OneWayOut Can I assume that there are in fact five pairs of crystals, and that, in story at least, teams are decided according to who has matching crystals?
I'm tired. And stressed. Not looking forward to my finals.
Cyra Zylvan - Beacon Courtyard - Tuesday Morning

Morning found Cyra awake, changed and outside before the sun was even up. She knew what today was: initiation. Today, she would learn who her teammates would be, the people she would be living with and fighting beside for the next four years. That in itself had made her sleep fitful.

The part that worried her the most was that she had no idea how the teams would be made. She hoped that they would be able to choose amongst themselves; that way she would be able to join the other Faunus, which would make life marginally easier. It would still be difficult, but they would at least be understanding about how she felt. She doubted that she was the first Faunus student at Beacon to hide what they were. The worst case scenario was that her future teammates were all human; people who fought together had to be able to trust one another, and she would be lying to them from the start. She didn’t know how long she would be able to hide it for.

Kneeling on the dewy grass, the knees and shins of her sweat pants stained a dark purple, Cyra took a deep breath as she absorbed the feeling of the earth. She needed to feel that reassurance, that strength if she was going to make it. Out here, separated from all she knew and was familiar with, it was all she had.

Opening her eyes, she looked down at her suitcase. And these, of course. She had had all her things packed up and moved into the ballroom before Nova had even woken up. Thankfully, no one had come looking for them in the night. In fact, Cyra doubted anyone else had even noticed her missing.

She reached down and undid the clasps on the suitcase, pulling the lid open. Inside, stacked on top of one another in a bed of thick foam, lay Khthon and Lithos. Each a shield almost the same width and height as her own torso, a small triangle protruding from one end. Her first, last, and strongest line of defense against the world. She ran her fingers along the cool metal, smiling softly, and lifted the heavy shields from their place. Along the curved inside of each shield was a thick strap that she slid her arm through, and fitted her hand into the controller glove. As she did so, a holographic display flickered into existence over her palm, the haptic feedback buzzing against her fingertips.

Cyra stood, holding each shield in front of her. A tapped out command, and the bottom and sides extended out, until each shield was wider than her shoulders and reached from her chin to her knees. Another command and the shields retracted. A third, and the small triangle at the top edge extended, then separated into a pair of prongs, a soft whine filling the air. A fourth command, and the whine stopped, the prongs clamping together and recessing. Again, she extended the shields to their full size, this time clapping them together, interlock mechanisms in the sides securely grabbing hold. A final command, and the shields disconnected, retracting into their dormant state. Cyra smiled. She’d have to test the firing mechanisms later, but now, she was confident.

She was Cyra Zylvan. Whatever came her way, she would endure.

Daaammnnnn! You going away or are they not releasing for the next few weeks?

Also, the thing that I'm worried about is a bloody cliffhanger! I can feel it in my bones - they're going to end with something extremely dramatic and pull a GoT on us!

They said the next episode isn't going to be released until Jan 2nd. Next week they're doing a Q&A live stream with the cast and crew, and then the week after that is another World of Remnant.

And if you haven't seen this episode, it is the mother of all cliffhangers so far.
