Not so sure I agree with this facebook stuff anymore. I'd rather go back to pretending everyone on here wasn't... well, you know what I mean ;)

It's my Birthday. I am drunk, and will get worse as the night draws in. That's... that's all. Now all I need is an option to post all the messy photos :P

Evan James Stewart had fucked up. Yeah, he'd fucked up big.

Bugging out of Dulles just before the parameter fence came down to a innumerable horde of shamblers, he'd managed to hitch a ride with a likewise rational minded man called Mike.

Mike had seemed an alright guy; the kind of man who kept his head in a crisis. But Evan hadn't seen the bite on Mike's wrist, and so when they were speeding through Washington, dodging shamblers left and right, and making good the gaps created by the bus over the last few days, Mike's turning had come as somewhat of a surprise.

Evan had thought Mike had simply got a bad cold. He was coughing nastily enough, but as Mike seemed pretty level headed, he took him at his word when he dismissed it as a "flu". What a stupid idea that was; no one can be trusted in these broken days of ours, no matter how genuine they seem to be.

Mike collapsed at the wheel of the car suddenly, sending it flying off course and into the back of a heavily modified bus. Evan was knocked unconscious on impact, the passenger side airbag deploying in earnest to save his face from the inside of the windshield. When he woke up minutes later, he felt the cooling and clammy hands of Mike, grabbing at him from the driver's seat.

Evan managed to unbuckle his seatbelt, open the door and tumble out of the car to safety.

No sooner had he stood up, the resonating thunderclap of a high powered rifle from a nearby house proceeded an explosion of tarmac by his feet. He ran, carried blindly by andrenlaline, towards the nearby school; it was the largest structure by far in his immediate vicinity, and to a primitive mind Hell bent on fight or flight mechanics, it seemed the safest.

Immediately he regretted his decision, almost slamming into the back of a horde of them as they gathered around the outsides of what he thought to be the school's gymnasium. He spun on his heels, and darted back, only to find more blocking his retreat - drawn by the commotion of the crash and the gunshot. He looked for any way out of the nightmare, any way at all. An open door along the building's side provided just the escape he needed.

He bolted across the green, dodging grasping hands, and shoving aside clicking jaws, and threw himself through the door. He was on his feet in a flash, trying to close it - only to find that the lock had been shot through at some point. Realising he'd soon be bumped to top of Death's "to-do" list, he simply resolved to vanish into the maze of corridors he was presented with.

He turned randomly at intervals, taking a left, then a right, sprinting past classrooms and offices, until he came to a sudden halt before a group of shamblers - no, not shamblers - PEOPLE!

Moans echoing through the lifeless expanse of the school instantly inform Evan that the horde has followed him. No doubt they'll just stumble about the place until they find someone.

If the group is going to move, then now would be the time to do it.

In my indecisive politician-like deliberation, I've just been thinking. Ideally, how much detail do you expect in our posts, Mr. Tomebinder?

I think I limited it one paragraph minimum.

To me as GM, I'd like a fine line between quality and quantity. I guess 300 words+ would work, although I do hate putting numbers on things.

Bottom line, I don't need you to write me essays. Write as much as you want, but not too little as to seem half-arsed.
That's not hard to handwave. If the King goes AWOL, just say he had a heart-attack. Instant drama.

Aye, true that.

I'm more than capable of dispatching afkers. In fact, I revel in it.

Anywho, first bit of the lore is up. You'll all only want to see the Present Day bit, when I get it up. The rest is just fluff needed to explain a few things. If I don't do it, no doubt some upstart will start poking holes in things.

Will let you all know when I've finished it.

Accepted!

With regards to the your post frequency, I'll give your character a 4 day AFK protection. However, I will have to control him in your stead if the game moves forwards and you're holding people up. These periods of control will probably be limited to me briefly narrating that he's still with the group, or his reaction to a the situation - no in-depth thought processes or what not... Just you know, so everyone knows he's not dead.

Provided you're happy with that, then we're good to go.

Kinda feel like I'm posting a bit too much! I don't wanna dominate the story so I'll give others a bit more of a chance to post. :)

Indeed. I look forward to murdering everyone in 24 hour's time ;) You might be the only one left after that. God that'd be terrifying.
So what exactly are we playing as? noble dynasties, council members, or vassals?

When I write a story that isn't riddled with fallacies, the eventual aim is that players will initially take on the role as members of Egrol's elite. At first I planned for it to be higher ranking Lords, such as Dukes and Counts, but now I think I'll extend it to include influential religious leaders and merchants.

In any case, the RP will begin with the realm's most powerful Lords/Preists/Merchants, who all have their own lands within the Kingdom, meeting to appoint a new king - the previous one having died. The elected King will be chosen from the players, and once that's done, the winner appoints various titles to the other Lords, which puts them in charge of certain things. Titles such as Minister of the Treasury, or Lord of Agriculture. I've not invented the titles yet, still trying to iron out the setting.

But in all cases, don't worry, you'll all have a part to play in the wars. With the Kingdom being feudal, each player will have their own soldiers, which they can give to the King when he needs them, or withhold them if they have their own angles -at a risk of being accused of treason, of course.

After the government has been appointed, I jump out of the bushes and say "THIS IS HAPPENING, MY GOOD LORDS WHAT WILL YOU DO!?"

And the King will either formulate a response, by saying "Lord blah blah, go do this" and "Lady ga ga" go do that, or he'll call on his vassals/lords/whatever you want to call them, to advise him.

After the council is closed, with the King being happy with the plan proposed, the players (and the king) then go and carry out their part of it.

New crises will spring up, requiring more meetings, or for Lords to act on their own accord at the risk of falling foul of the King.

EDIT: My only fear is, that the King might go AFK. What do you reckon the chances are of this? RPG known for frequent drop outs?
*waves medieval sword*

What the Hell happened? I just read through all of that, thinking "OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH DIS GONNA BE GUD!" and none of y'all screamed at each other.

You guys suck. If there's gonna be OOC drama, someone at least has to get banned, God damnit! It's literally the rules of any internet forum anywhere.

Ah well. There's always next time. Personally, whilst Wernher may have been a bit overbearing with some of what he said, I'd of still voted for having some bastard country that everyone had to go to war with. But that's just me, and it looks like it's too late now anyhow. Nevermind, onwards and upwards.

Anyways... let's get back to being friendly with each other, and declare war on global hunger ;)

Happy to be of assistance.

Oh! Oh! I just noticed. You should probably add a notation about roughly how powerful you want characters to be (at least an example of the max) - Assuming you want to keep it somewhat streamlined at first.

Yeah, I was actually thinking of listing a range of characters. You know, to really hammer home the kinds of warriors you'd expect to see in the Blood Crown Tournament.

Pain meds are standard fare, and school sick bays should carry them.

…what do I know about American healthcare anyway, I'm just an Asian nurse.

And I'm just a mild mannered Englishman equipped with Google.

Together we'll make an excellent team!
@TomeBinder

That should remove the need for a tier list neatly, yes. Very effective.

Awesome. It might need some tweaking, but that'll have to wait until I get things started.

Well, with the key "mechanics" nailed down, I can resume with creating the world.

As always, many thanks for your help.
