Responsibility belongs not to the name stenciled on the mantel, but to the one who carries the mantle.

The crash finally came, and his world became agony, he tried to scream, but water filled his lungs, thrashing was useless, so he didn't. He should be panicking, but... he seemed to be watching himself die from outside himself. The agony grew and then it plateaued... It hurt worse than anything Sigurd had ever felt before, still, as he grew accustomed to the pain, his mind began to wander. What would Papa say? Surely he would be proud of his Son, who died serving the Reich, but Mama would weep bitterly and rail against Hitler again... She always said you shouldn't trust a monster to keep his promises. She had gone and bought Hitler's book Mein Kampf, when his name began appearing in the papers. She said the book was full of the most terrible things a person could say, and that he was proud to kill others for no reason other than they were born. She hadn't let any of us, her children read it, not wanting our head to be filled with such nonsense and bigotry. He hoped she wouldn't get Papa in trouble with the SS. He'd seen what they did to people suspected of treason.

He wondered how his sisters were doing in school, it'd been months since he'd heard from them, something about the supply lines being overstretched, his CO had said. They'd been so happy to see their brother join the Luftwaffe, and had bragged that he would be great pilot, even greater than the Red Baron had been in the first world war. Mama always asked them if they wanted me shot down like the Red Baron, and they'd always happily replied that I'd never be shot down, that's why I was better than the Red Baron. They had been elated to learn that I would soon be an ace, having earned four kills in the skies above Belgium and Holland. Now over France, I had earned my last kill, though he doubted anyone had noticed it in all the chaos of the dogfight. And in all honesty, his own kill had ended up killing him apparently so it wasn't like it really mattered anyway.

But... If he was dead, where was he? He couldn't see or hear anything, and felt only fresh waves of agony and searing pain, as he sought more information about his surroundings. Recoiling, within himself, he wondered if he was in hell, or was this the purgatory his catholic neighbors had warned him of? He did not know, and didn't want to know, he just wanted the pain to stop, and soon.
@Tracyarmav Aren't Ikanus and Reaper the same person?

Ikanus is the Jackal, Reaper is the character, but effectively yes they're controlled by the same player and so may be considered the same person.
Hey I was just wondering if there are just modern foods in this world? I'll try to post today, but I may have to edit it a little bit if there are no modern foods

That's up to @gravity22 who seems to be AWOL, though it is reasonable to assume that there are modern foods given the setting.
Posted, @DestinyStar Edgar can't interact with your character if you keep moving her away from him! :P I hope she has fun with her old man, and his filthy roommate.

@BlackPanther

Edgar, accepted, a tad woozily, and took a moment to be sure the last of the stun effect was gone, before thanking Reaper for his help and tackling the next bug in sight, this time with cunning in place of his earlier brashness. He worked carefully to learn the how best to fight these armored opponents with his spear and shield. In a way he wasn't so different from them, with his shield skill offering a damage nerf to his opponents and his spear skill allowed him to deal massive damage when he successfully hit a weak point. He hadn't really needed to look for weak spots on the wild dogs, but against these armored opponents, he'd have trouble doing anything without hitting their weak points consistently. As the day wore on though he became more proficient at dealing with the giant pests. As the sun set, Edgar was just below level eight, and they seemed to be about a hundred meters from their destination, according the rough map he had acquired in town. He wanted to get to the mine tonight, and so kept moving forward even as night came and the mobs changed accordingly. The biggest change was their speed, which had received a significant boost, Edgar estimated that the speed was as much as double the day time value for most of the mobs, as he continued to fight his way cautiously towards the mine. They also had bigger threat range, the range at which the mobs would notice a player an threaten to attack.

This was almost a serious issue, as Edgar didn't pay enough attention to his surroundings in one of the first night fights, and unexpectedly aggro'd a second mob before the first was finished. Reaper and Anubis kept him alive as he slowly learned the best ways to fight his opponents for which he was particularly grateful, remembering that he'd almost decided to make the trip alone. Though out the day they'd seen several players running through the gorge and hunting the mobs, but now it was just Edgar and Reaper out, except for the occasional player headed back for Bull's Run. When the two finally made it to the mine, after a fighting several elite versions of the usual mobs, Edgar was almost halfway through level eight. He wondered how things would be different in the mines.

Outside the mines was a large clear space, with no mobs, where he and Reaper currently stood looking at the entrance and the two guards standing by it. All the information Edgar had on the mine was from day time excursions, and those seemed difficult enough, but Reaper and Anubis were real game changers, with them here it might not matter that it was night. They'd certainly kept the gorge from swallowing him whole several times so far.

"What do you think? Should we go in now or wait until morning? The koblods are supposed to be relatively weak individually, but they're almost always calling more mobs to join the fight. So you either have to kill them quickly or find a way to silence them, or risk fighting the entire mine at once. And no one's really sure just how big the mine is. They might all be asleep now, or there might be even more of them working than usual. I'm not sure how this game deals with miners and shifts. Should we risk it?"

Isa : Anisim Misolav

Isa helped himself to a hearty breakfast as usual, glancing around to see who was still here. Blue and Roxy were still absent, he noted as he took a seat next to Savannah. He dug in while seeing that she wasn't eating anything, he raised an eye brow in question, but didn't take time to vocalize it. He wondered she wasn't eating, and thought that it was either the trouble of yesterday getting to her, or she was just anorexic. Isa shrugged a shoulder, it wasn't really any of his business anyway.

He mulled over Vlad's words as he ate, he'd been thinking on them throughout the night. True, he had little compassion to spare for anyone here, but maybe that was a fault that needed to be fixed. It didn't seem to be helping him any, that was for sure. But wouldn't these people all just abandon him once they were done here, leaving him to search alone? Everyone else always had, why should these be any different? Well, for one their DNA was different now, but would that really affect their sympathies? Not now they wouldn't, you'd made it all pretty painfully clear yesterday that you didn't care about anyone but yourself, so no one is going to cut you any slack. Isa looked down with some surprise at his empty plate, and rose to put the tray and dirty dishes away, before returning to his seat and awaiting further instructions.

No worries, life happens. I'll probably be hanging around until the end of time anyway, so I don't mind waiting for responses to much.
Well, it is a giant beetle, so you can't just stomp it to death. :P
@BlackPanther Confused? It'll be okay... eventually. Also you're up. :)
Someone was calling, or were they telling him to stay away? He couldn't be sure, he was lost in a dream, fighting alone in a sky full of allied fighters, he was running low on fuel and ammunition and still they just kept coming, endless wave upon wave of hostile fighters. His radio was silent, save for a slight his of static, he wished he knew what to do, He'd survived so far by sticking to the heavy cloud cover all around, but no matter where he went there were enemies waiting for him. above and below the deck, enemies scoured the sky for him, hunting and occasionally glimpsing his battered fighter. He'd lost most of his tail plane, making yawing all but impossible. His engine was leaking oil, and smoke, his instruments were almost all worthless now, only his compass and radio still worked. However, since he'd long since lost track of where he was, he no longer knew which way was home... He was lost, and running out of time, soon we would die, by man or by gravity, perhaps by both. With sudden sputtering, his engine consumed the last of his fuel, and he realized that eventually had arrived, he would be dead in minutes... and there was nothing that he could do about it.

Suddenly his radio crackled to life, "Allo?" his heart raced and he responded eagerly ... but no further sound came through his headset. He wanted desperately to get some response but nothing seemed to rouse the broadcaster, and eventually he fell silent again. His plane slid through the bottom of the clouds, and he finally realized he was no longer surrounded by enemies... but now he was over endless water, and falling fast, with no sight of land anywhere. Despair came to him then, he had out flown his enemies but he had not out flown death, and now he would never see his homeland again. His leg began to itch, and he thought it a strange thing since it'd never done that before while flying... He let the thought slide as he watched the water rise to meet him, despondent and full of despair.
