There's a panhandler who hangs out on the street corner by our dispensary every afternoon with a sign that just says "Green 4 Green?" and tbh, I respect my boy's confidence.

Name: Taylor
Pronouns: They/them
Age: Mid 20s
Relationship: Married (happily, I might add)
Time Zone: Arizona (we hate daylight savings, so it's MST year-round)
Writing History: I've been on a number of different roleplaying websites for over a decade and a half
Hobbies: Writing, fitness, driving/exploring, hiking, camping, traveling, tabletop games, anything NEW (I love trying things I've never done before)
Roleplayer Profile

Format: 1x1s only. Maybe I'll try a group RP again someday, but I've never had one last longer than a few months
Posting Speed: Depending on my schedule, I can usually post at least once per week
Favorite Genres: Modern, Historical, Romance, Action/Adventure, Horror/Dark, Fantasy, Slice of Life, Dystopian, can be convinced to write some Sci-Fi
Hard 'no's: Fandoms. Sorry, but I can't maintain interest in characters/worlds I didn't build with my partner
Template: Public threads or PMs. I prefer to keep all my RPs in one place, so no emails or G-docs or the like
Rating: Comfortable with 18+ content, but it's not a necessity and I prefer not to center a plot around explicit scenes

Character preference: One main character, but large side casts are greatly enjoyed. Because I write long posts, I prefer not to double
Gender preference: Male. You'll be hard pressed to convince me to play a female that isn't a background character. It's just not my forte
Romantic Relationships: MxF or MxM (currently prefer MxM)
Character Images: Faceclaims or detailed descriptions only. I envision the characters like real people in my mind, so I can't take anime seriously
OOC chat: Yes please! I'm a total extrovert who loves to get to know the amazing minds behind my partners' characters

“Hey. Do we not count? I mean I know I'm not an angel but...”

Sho turned at the sound of Haruka’s voice. He managed a weak smile as she walked over to him and Toby, still regaining his strength. He suddenly felt awkward to be sitting on the ground while the others were standing, so he forced his tired legs to hoist himself up.

“Hey, Haruka,” Sho said, stretching his arms over his head. “Glad to see you made it to the pink afterlife with us. For a second I was scared it would just be me and Toby, here –no offense, bro.”

Sho watched as Haruka moved to Suzume’s side to wake her up. That little voice in the back of his mind irritatingly told him he should have been the one to do that. He ignored it. Haruka was Suzume’s friend too, so why shouldn’t she help her up? Nevertheless, he walked over to stand by Haruka when Suzume woke up.

“Toby? Sho? You guys okay?”

“Yep! Good as new,” Sho replied. He felt a pang of anxiety for her though. She looked pale and had a bloody nose. Suzume managed to stand up, at which he was slightly impressed. It had taken Sho a couple minutes before the lead-feeling subsided enough for him to get off his butt. The girl began embracing everyone in turn. Now that he knew she was a hugger, Sho wasn’t as startled when she rounded on him. He returned the embrace this time.

“What did we get ourselves into?” Suzume asked.

“I-I t-think a r-really bad g-ghost story,” Toby stuttered out in reply. He looked completely horrified at the fact that he was just hugged by a girl. Sho wondered briefly if he ever had before.

“That, or we’re just the next victims of Panic Face King,” Sho mused. “Although this would be hard even for them to pull off.”

He glanced back at Haruka, who was walking up to the entrance of the old building. He had to give her props for going through with their original plan after the spontaneous mass-blackout. She seemed to be having trouble with the door, though.

“Could... someone help me with this?”

“I gotcha,” Sho called back to her. He trotted down to the entrance and checked to see if it was a push or pull door. Deciding he needed to pull, Sho planted his feet and grabbed the handle. He gave it a sharp jerk and it gave way, swinging open with a loud groan. He stumbled back slightly, momentarily losing his balance when the door opened.

“Huh,” Sho murmured, running his finger over the side of the door. “The sides were rusted to the frame a little bit. No wonder it was stuck like that.” He peered inside the entry way and gave a soft whistle. “Pitch black. Did anyone bring a flashlight?”

Pitch darkness.

That was all Sho was aware of in his unconscious state. He wasn’t sure where he was or how he got there, but somehow he knew he was passed out. His mind strained to wake up, but his body protested. Just another ten minutes…

“Sho come on something weird is going on here.”

The voice reached him, but it sounded muffled and distant. Who was it? Sho’s lipochrome brown eyes flickered open, but he quickly squinted against the unexpected brightness. Memories trickled back into his head. Hadn’t it been nighttime? He was certain he hadn’t been out for that long, so it shouldn’t be this bright already. He felt a presence beside him and slid his gaze over to meet Toby’s. The boy seemed upset about something.

Sho forced himself into a sitting position. His limbs felt like lead and his head swam. After the head rush subsided, he looked around to take in his surroundings some more. He was still in the same spot where he had passed out before, but everything was all wrong. For starters, the sky was pink. What was up with that? Maybe there was some major outbreak of pollution. That would explain the color, but not the unnatural brightness. Secondly, the barricade was gone. Okay, that was majorly weird.

“Toby?” Sho said. His voice sounded scratchy, so he cleared his throat. “Did we just die, or what? If this is heaven, it’s a lot pinker than I imagined it would be. And emptier. Kind of a letdown.” He furrowed his brow. “I was hoping I’d at least get some golden trumpets and a procession of hot angel chicks when I finally croaked.” He sighed despondently. “What a bummer…”

I was being nice I promise! But on a different not not necessarily true horror comes in many different varieties we very well could have all just died right now and not known it and are now going into what could be considered hell.

This is true

This RP is a horror/exploration/mystery RP. There are many things that you won't know from the beginning. OOC information will be provided as players discover things IC.

...as you can see, we've learned nothing. Therefore, it can't be over :)

Sho stood rigid, startled by Suzume’s spontaneous hug. He hadn’t been expecting a reaction like that. Most of the time, when he surprised a girl she would hit him or do something similar. He felt his heart speed up again, and force himself to calm down. Realizing he was staring at her, Sho quickly shifted his gaze to something behind Suzume. He managed to kick his brain back into gear in time to hear the last bit of what Suzume was saying.

“…alone with people I didn't know. Or worse, this was some kind of joke.”

“No, no,” Sho interjected, switching his gaze back to her face. “I’m not that mean, I promise.”

“Oh? Oh. Uhm. Yeah! We are the first here out of our friend group! Just me and you.. They better arrive soon..”

He nodded in agreement. Not that he minded being alone with her… But still, as a natural extrovert Sho knew he would feel more comfortable in a group. He glanced over Suzume’s head to see that other girl, Haruka, approaching them at a brisk jog.

“Oh... wow. When did this turn into a party? Where's Toby?”

Sho looked around at the other students flocking around the building. Apparently they weren’t the only ones interested in ghostbusting tonight. He shrugged in answer to both of Haruka’s questions.

“I dunno,” he said, glossing over the faces of the other people. He didn’t know any of the upper classmen personally, and Toby was nowhere to be found. Maybe he had to work late. Sho frowned. That would be disappointing. For all his teasing, he kind of liked having the awkward little guy around. Toby was a nice break from the self-important popular kids that usually talked to Sho.

11:57PM

“Sho-Chaaan. Suzume.”

He knew that voice anywhere. Sho spun around to see Tsuki, one of the guys he considered to be one of his closer friends, walking over to them. He had what appeared to be grass stains on his jacket. Sho wondered where those came from, but put the thought aside as unimportant.

“Hey, Tsuki,” Sho greeted his friend with a grin.

“So, like, you guys having a party? Pretty crap place to have it, if you ask me.”

“Really?” Sho said in mock astonishment. “I dunno. I thought it was perfect. Can’t you just feel the party vibes? I think the ghosties want a little action in their dull and gloomy lives, and I’m the perfect guy to grant their wish. Just think of me as a genie for the undead.” He gave an extravagant bow with a flourish of his hand.

11:58PM

Sho spotted Toby wandering among the crowd nearby. He didn’t look like he saw them yet, so Sho raised his arms up and waved to get his attention.

“Hey, Toby,” he called loudly. “We’re over here!”

Sho waited for the other boy to reach them. He commenced in people-watching to pass the time. There was an impressive variety of students gathered outside the building. People from all different grades were standing around. He did wonder why nobody went inside, though. His own group had agreed to go in at midnight, but surely the others didn’t all plan the same thing. Well, he supposed it was possible, even if it was unlikely. He suddenly felt curious as to what time it was, so he checked his watch.

11:59PM

Sho smiled to himself. Just one more minute and they would be headed inside on an epic quest to bust some ghosts and come back alive. His former worries had melted away when he saw how many other students were planning the same thing. They couldn’t all be so stupid as to risk their lives exploring an old, abandoned building, right? Plus, as Suzume had put it earlier, there was safety in numbers. The thought was mildly comforting.

Sho tapped his foot impatiently, glancing frequently at his watch as though he were trying to will time to move faster. He didn’t want to stand around outside much longer and was getting bored. He hated being bored.

12:00PM

At last, the long-awaited time had come upon them. Sho turned to the others, ready to take charge and lead them all inside. Instead, he saw them all doubled-over in pain. For a moment, he was struck with panic. What was wrong with them?

Then the hammer struck.

Or at least, that was what it felt like. Sho was overcome with a powerful shooting pain behind his eyes. He slammed them shut, trying to block out the migraine. Then he was hit with a wave of nausea that made his stomach writhe. He opened one eye back up in a slit, instinctively wanting to try and protect his friends somehow, but the sane part of his mind knew it was impossible. He couldn’t fight an enemy he couldn’t see or touch.

Sho struggled against the darkness that threatened to take over his vision, battling with unconsciousness. But in the end, the invisible force defeated him and he slumped to the ground in comatose.
So much reading to do... XD

Just for future reference: I'll probably only be posting once or twice a day, if I can even manage that. Sorry for holding you all up :/

EDIT: Uber long post to make up for two pages of being gone~
EDIT2: Lol awkwardly thinking Tsuki is a man
EDIT3: Dramatic passing out ftw :D
I'll try to get another post up in three or four hours. I'm busy tonight and y'all move so fast D:
Sho ducked out of Toby’s way as the boy took off with an unexpected burst of speed. He realized the girls were also leaving, and he was the only one left. His eyes wandered back to the window for one last look at the spooky old building, and he grinned. Despite the chilling atmosphere of the place, he couldn’t help but be excited about exploring it with some friends. Wandering through a haunted building and running from ghosts would be a good way to bond. He turned away from the window and headed down the stairwell to head home.
After knocking out a couple of homework assignments, Sho worked on filling a small backpack with supplies for the trip. He packed a camera for obvious reasons, some pencils and paper in case the building was haunted and the ghosts couldn’t be caught on film (he wasn’t half bad at sketching), his cell phone to contact anyone if he needed to, and a water bottle because why not? Deciding he was adequately prepared, he loped down the stairs to the front room and made for the door.

“I’m going out with some friends!” Sho called out to his parents, who were watching television in the other room.

“Alright, dear,” his mom shouted back in reply. “Just as long as this doesn’t affect your grades. Oh, and remember to present yourself in a way that doesn’t disgrace our family! We don’t want these friends of yours to think you belong to some mediocre parents!”

Sho ignored her and slammed the front door shut behind him.

---

He arrived at the abandoned building at five minutes ‘til midnight. At first he thought he was the first to get there, but then he spotted Suzume standing up ahead. A mischievous look came over his face, and he crept up silently behind her, so she wouldn’t know he was there.

“Yo,” Sho said when he was standing right behind her. “Fancy meeting you here on this dark and dreary night.” He stuck his hands into his jean pockets and grinned at her, cocking his head slightly to the side. His backpack hung casually off of one shoulder. “Is anyone else here yet, or are we the first?”
