There's a panhandler who hangs out on the street corner by our dispensary every afternoon with a sign that just says "Green 4 Green?" and tbh, I respect my boy's confidence.

Bio

Personal Profile

Name: Taylor
Pronouns: They/them
Age: Mid 20s
Relationship: Married (happily, I might add)
Time Zone: Arizona (we hate daylight savings, so it's MST year-round)
Writing History: I've been on a number of different roleplaying websites for over a decade and a half
Hobbies: Writing, fitness, driving/exploring, hiking, camping, traveling, tabletop games, anything NEW (I love trying things I've never done before)
Roleplayer Profile

Format: 1x1s only. Maybe I'll try a group RP again someday, but I've never had one last longer than a few months
Posting Speed: Depending on my schedule, I can usually post at least once per week
Favorite Genres: Modern, Historical, Romance, Action/Adventure, Horror/Dark, Fantasy, Slice of Life, Dystopian, can be convinced to write some Sci-Fi
Hard 'no's: Fandoms. Sorry, but I can't maintain interest in characters/worlds I didn't build with my partner
Template: Public threads or PMs. I prefer to keep all my RPs in one place, so no emails or G-docs or the like
Rating: Comfortable with 18+ content, but it's not a necessity and I prefer not to center a plot around explicit scenes
Level: Advanced. Will consistently provide around 400-700 words per post, but can occasionally leap to 2000+
Character preference: One main character, but large side casts are greatly enjoyed. Because I write long posts, I prefer not to double
Gender preference: Male. You'll be hard pressed to convince me to play a female that isn't a background character. It's just not my forte
Romantic Relationships: MxF or MxM (currently prefer MxM)
Character Images: Faceclaims or detailed descriptions only. I envision the characters like real people in my mind, so I can't take anime seriously
OOC chat: Yes please! I'm a total extrovert who loves to get to know the amazing minds behind my partners' characters

Another day, another twenty-four hours of opportunity. This was the thought that kept Ashley going during the times when her depression reached its occasional low points. Maybe today would be the day she got adopted. Maybe today her seventeen years of waiting would finally come to an end. She would just have to have hope. Hope was all she had left, after all, and hope was the only thing that made the orphanage bearable anymore. Ashley climbed down from her bed —she slept on the top bunk— and changed from her pajamas into the clothes she would be wearing that day. Like all of the other orphan children, everything she “owned” was secondhand. She never had the luxury of getting to choose her own clothes or develop her own sense of fashion. Today, she just wore a simple, pale pink dress with leggings and flats. It was the prettiest outfit she had in her dresser, but she needed the confidence boost. Maybe feeling pretty would help lessen the ache of her depression. As with everything else, she could only hope. Ashley ambled to the communal bathroom she shared with the rest of the girls in her room, where she then proceeded with her morning rituals of brushing her teeth and combing her hair into something more presentable. After that, she made her way down to the cafeteria for breakfast. However, when she got there she discovered that everyone had migrated outside. It appeared they were going to eat out on the lawn that morning. Yawning away her lingering weariness —she had never been much of a morning person— Ashley joined the line of children as they waited with empty plates to be filled. It was during moments like this when she was acutely aware of her age. She felt like a giant next to all of the five and six year olds that surrounded her. All of the other kids her age had been adopted long ago, leaving her to be the only “big sister” to the little ones. Ashley was lost in thought as the line slowly shuffled forward. She was only pulled from her daydreaming when she reached the front and received her food. She looked up to meet the eyes of the young man who cooked all of the orphans’ food. He was always smiling. Every time Ashley saw him around the orphanage, his features were lit up with a happy grin. She wondered if he was genuinely euphoric all the time, or if he only smiled for the sakes of the children. Whatever the case, she wished she could share in his ever-present joy. “Thank you,” Ashley said politely as the cook filled her plate. She turned and found a shady place to sit by herself beneath a tree. She looked down at her breakfast and sighed. “Happy Birthday to me.”
Ashley (Ash) Cooper Race: Human Age: 17 Personality: Ashley is a glass half-full type of person. Despite growing up in an orphanage and watching all of her friends get adopted into loving families while she herself remained behind, she still has hope for a better future. Background: All Ashley knows about her mother is that the woman was fourteen years old when she gave birth to her, and that she gave her away to the orphanage because she was too young to raise her properly. Ashley tries to tell herself that she understands why her mother did what she did, but the feeling of being unloved always persists at the back of her mind. She grew up in the orphanage for as long as she could remember, always being tossed around between different foster families who could never truly love her. Most of them tried, but there was always an unspoken distance between Ashley and her foster parents. Everyone knew she would just go back to the orphanage after their time together was up, so they could never fully bond. Years went by and all of Ashley’s friends were adopted into permanent families. She was happy for them —they could finally have the parents every orphan dreamed of— but she felt an increasing sense of despair in her heart. Why did everyone else get to have a family? What was wrong with her? Why did no one want her? Was she really so unlovable? Her condition spiraled down towards depression. Ashley’s outlook on life changed on her fifteenth birthday. She was sitting by herself when a small group of orphan kids approached her with a portion of bread. They made a semi-circle in front of her and sang Happy Birthday, then offered her the food. The sight of the children’s consideration hit Ashley like a slap in the face. How could she be so conceited? They were all in this mess together. From that day forward, Ashley took it upon herself to take care of all the younger kids at the orphanage.
This is an OOC, yo
Danielle finished her song and the spectators dropped their spare change into her ukulele case. She gave them the friendliest smile she could muster. She still didn’t know if anyone else here was aware of the strange circling roads. If they did, they didn’t seem to care much. Every time she asked the locals about her problem, they would just give her weird looks or click their tongues and shake their heads as if she was a child who was just learning how hard life was in the real world. Their apathy bothered her. Still, she needed money, so she would just have to keep her irritation to herself. Just as Danny was about to start her next song, she caught sight of something that made her pause. Among the crowd of people that had gathered around her, there was one person who didn’t share the ever-present, sullen stare that plagued most of the locals in Terry town. A man was looking down at the screen of his cellphone. He seemed frustrated about something. The emotion on his face was the most human thing Danny had seen since she arrived in this godforsaken place. Maybe there were normal people in Terry, after all. Well, either way, she didn’t have time to ponder this now. The spectators were waiting, and she didn’t want them to leave. Danny turned her eyes away from the man and started to play her next song: I heard that you're settled down That you found a girl and you're married now I heard that your dreams came true Guess she gave you things I didn't give to you Old friend, why are you so shy? Ain't like you to hold back or hide from the light I hate to turn up out of the blue, uninvited But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it I had hoped you'd see my face and that you'd be reminded That for me, it isn't over Never mind, I'll find someone like you I wish nothing but the best for you, too Don't forget me, I beg, I remember you said Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead You know how the time flies Only yesterday was the time of our lives We were born and raised in a summer haze Bound by the surprise of our glory days I hate to turn up out of the blue, uninvited But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it I had hoped you'd see my face and that you'd be reminded That for me, it isn't over Never mind, I'll find someone like you I wish nothing but the best for you, too Don't forget me, I beg, I remember you said Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead Nothing compares, no worries or cares Regrets and mistakes, they're memories made Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste? Never mind, I'll find someone like you I wish nothing but the best for you Don't forget me, I beg, I remember you said Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead By the end of the song, many of the people in Danny’s audience had filtered back into the other parts of the shopping center. Only a few stuck around to listen to her finish, but that was okay. She had made enough money for one day, and she was getting hungry. Maybe she could grab something to eat at one of the restaurants in the area. Danny put her instrument away and got to her feet, slinging the strap of her ukulele case over one shoulder. She checked the time on her phone —displaying the time was all it was good for these days— and looked around for a place to get some food, stuffing the cellphone unceremoniously into the back pocket of her jeans.
