Wait, there are already Servants in use? Does that mean we have to pick from those listed? If so, I must ask a vitally important question.

Is Sun Wukong male or female or neither (a.k.a monkey)? Not saying I probably won't pick him or her anyway, but the answer may sway me towards Arachne :P
Interested.
I'll try to post soon.
Okay, finally getting used to having a job and how to work my schedule around that. Think I might be able to participate now. Is it too late? :(
Lotsa life stuff. I'll keep you posted.
"Absolutely not!" Toasty said, his unexpected outburst silencing even the most fringe conversations.

"... Is that true, milord?" Shammura said, downtrodden. "Do you not feel comfortable around me? Do I make you feel... insecure?"

She looked up at him from below this time, her expression pleading like a scolded puppy. Toasty glared at Nostromo as if to say "now look what you've done". He put an armored hand on Shammura's shoulder.

"No, Shammura," he said. "That's not what he meant."

"Then what did he mean, milord?" she asked.

"I, uh..." Toasty said, stuttering. Shammura started sniffing, her eyes moist with barely restrained tears.

"All I w-wanted was to serve you so you'd l-love me, milord," she sniffled. "What did I do wrong? Did I d-disappoint you somehow? Please, tell me! If I've truly l-let you down, then let me make it up to you by killing myself after taking your life!"

A knife flashed brightly like the light reflecting off of Shammura's teary face, but when he was in his armor, all it did was bounce harmlessly off of Toasty's chestplate. He hadn't created Shammura with physical strength in mind, so a knife alone could not penetrate his armor. Still, Shammura stabbed and swung, futilely trying to kill Toasty with what may as well have been a blunt spork.

Crying, she tried even harder to complete the task that had been given to her. Finally, after a certain number of tries, Toasty just caught her knife hand by the wrist, holding it gently.

"Shammura," he said. "I am not disappointed in you. You are my creation. Any fault in you lies with me, and I could not be prouder of your loyalty and dedication, or more flattered by your love. Our circumstances may have changed, and it's true that this world is upsetting and unsettling, for all of us, but do not think that that is your fault. You have done exactly as you were told to. Understood?"

Shammura sniffed, wiped the tears from her eyes, and smiled. "You mean I may continue to try and kill you in the future, Toasty-sama?"

"Y-Yeah..." Toasty said, regretting his decision to word it like that. "Just... don't try to do it too much when we are traveling together. It may draw attention to us, and detract from vital guild business."

Shammura's wide eyes glimmered. "You mean-!"

"I told you, didn't I? A Ragnavault without either of you is just as lost as a man missing both his right and left hands. As your guildmaster, I refuse to make that sacrifice. If you must make this a personal errand Nostromo, then I'm coming with you, as is Shammura. Our friends and remaining NPCs can keep order in the fortress for a few hours a day in my absence. I trust them all with that much, don't you?"

Not like I really do all that much anyway...

To Lady Pastry, he said, "Sorry, Lady Pastry, but I think the reason Nostromo wants to go is so he can hypnotize a local scholar, and learn the language directly. I've spent enough time around him to guess how his mind works. I hate to divert such valuable time and resources away from the Ragnavault, but he's right. This will become important later, and Nostromo is the best and most effective candidate for the job. Additionally, this trip may give us an opportunity to establish trade relations with the locals. As the guild's primary financial supervisor, it would be foolish for me not to go."

He turned to address the other guild members. "Everyone! While Nostromo, Shammura and I gather information on the indigenous people, you all are to see to your previously agreed upon tasks. If you did not volunteer or were not given a job to do, I expect you to find something productive to do for the betterment of the Ragnavault. However," he said, his voice taking on a serious tone. "If you decide to take any action that you feel may put the Ragnavault at risk or reveal our existences, you are to inform me immediately, preferably before doing anything stupid in the heat of the moment. That includes you, Donut-san. We don't know yet what other effects our arrival here may have had on our minds as well as our bodies, so I expect you to keep your anger under control. Understood?"

Before Nostromo could voice any objections, Toasty added, in a much quieter voice, "If you're worried about those people realizing we're not actually human like they are, Shammura has a wide variety of mind and memory alteration spells to divert attention away from us. Additionally, the three of us look close enough to human to pass for it. As long as I don't remove my voice modulator and armor, they'll never know. I specially created Shammura to be a tailless demon, so you two just need to hide your fangs. If we do that, we shouldn't arouse too much suspicion."

Lastly, he silently cast Message, and sent a text message to Nostromo.

i'll explain later.
I'll be posting tomorrow!

What Pacifista said, hopefully.
I (surprisingly) have not heard from Dead Cruiser in the past few days, so if the prolonged radio silence continues, I'll just take that as a signal to carry on and start working on a post to move things along Saturday night or Sunday morning.
As conversations erupted around him at frightening speed, Toasty started feeling less and less like a leader, and more like he was completely and totally lost amidst the chorus of complaints and concerns. That, and a lot of what Nostromo was discussing was incredibly over his head. He was an engineering student, dammit, not an economist!

When DD finally brought up something he felt he could answer responsibly, he eagerly took the opportunity to flex his leadership chops.

“Anything on their number? Strength? Would they attack us, if, erm no, when they spot the giant fortress just sitting around near their homes?”

"There's no good reason to think they would, especially considering we live inside a giant, hollowed-out volcano. The lairs of aspiring James Bond villains are the kind of thing people tend to avoid unless they're crazy into virgin sacrifice to the local volcano god, and as you may have noticed, there are no volcanos here besides us," Toasty said, voice dripping with sarcasm. "Of course the dwarves may be interested in us. They seem to be the only unifying force among the local demihuman tribes, which means they're likely already at a greater level of technological and societal advancement than their peers. We've seen that in the way they easily exploit those humans like subjects, or even... well... slaves."

Toasty said the word uncomfortably, voicing what was on everybody's minds. What would they do if they found out the humans were being mistreated? Well, they actually did know that already from what they'd seen (at least within a reasonable margin of error), but the question remained. What action would they take? Would they make an enemy out of the dwarves by fighting for the humans' freedoms, or would they betray their own moral compass by just letting it slide because it wasn't worth the trouble?

Coughing, Toasty began again. "Anyway, I'd be surprised if they weren't magically or technologically adept enough to measure earthquakes. Speaking as a dwarf, the little show we put on when the entire volcano just decided to wedge itself inside a mountain would be pretty suspicious. That being said, if they're knowledgeable to understand what happened, they're likely aware that such a feat couldn't be accomplished without some serious magical power, and are likely to leave us alone, at least for a little while."

He said that, but they did need to start being a bit more proactive. Like Nostromo said, these expeditions were turning up very little, or at least not enough to warrant the time being spent on them.

"I'm certain once Silva is done casting a cloak around Ragnavault. Bringing her with me would be a good idea. As to help me blend in better by making us look like just another civilian in town. Would definitely make gathering information easier by not standing out like a sore thumb."

Toasty clapped.

"Great! It's decided then. LP and Silva will scout out the town once the guild has finished being cloaked, but leave Slitherton behind," Toasty said, stressing the importance of not introducing an infant dragon to the local population before turning to Nostromo. "Nostromo, I need you to stay here. I need advisors, and you help temper Shammura. A leader can't function without both his right and left hands, and a Ragnavault without either of you is just as lost."

Of course that was half the reason. The other half was that Silva was generally well-behaved and Wolfgang... was not. Not to mention the vampire brides, which he had honestly been meaning to discuss with Nostromo. He'd seen what either of those things could do, and taking them anywhere near a human settlement was a bad idea.

Toasty leaned back in his chair, relaxing and exhaling. That seemed like everything, at least everything immediately important. They were playing a long game though. Immediately may not be as important as eventually. Food was still an issue, as was trading, diplomacy, and attaining self-sufficiency. These were all problems that needed to be addressed sooner rather than later.

A door at the far end of the Copper Hall opened up and Shammura walked in, covered in soot.

"I've done as you asked, milord! I dug as deep a hole as I could using all my MP! Unfortunately it seems as though I don't possess any earth-moving spells, so to fill the hole back up I had to collapse that section of the mine."

Somebody please help me...
I'd like to jump back in, but a few problems I see are wrapping up the felidrake thing, since Fiammetta is still in the middle of that, as well as conflicting interests and schedule issues since I am now running my own RP in addition to working 40 hrs a week and writing for my blog.

tl;dr I'd like to jump back in but I'm not sure how it'd work or even if I should.
