VIGILANCE: Memento Mori

The world had been rattled by events beginning by the first Hype losing control. It was not the last though. What could only be describes as an epidemic, several more Hype's had lost control and caused even more destruction and death. Having just arrived Ruth suddenly found herself scrambling with her fellow scientists to isolate the cause. In the case of the veteran practitioner she likely couldn't have been in a safer position. The new facility was well equipped for the safe study of many potentially dangerous substances. Already they found a new strain of virus in samples taken from the Hypes before their untimely demise. So far there has not been much headway in learning details of this new health threat.

Where did it come from? How does it spread? Why does it only seem to affect Hyperhumans? What is the potential to mutate? Many questions yet to be answered. These unknowns contributed to quarantine. No one enters and no one leaves. Week after week tests were being run to try and figure out anything from what little they had.

For the moment Ruth was taking a break. While she could work longer that nearly everyone in the facility the human mind still needs a break. Due to what was going on she had been pretty much living at the lab, only occasionally going out. Getting infected was the last thing she, or anyone else needed. Although it was hypothesized that she could be immune, having shrugged off some rather nasty bugs and toxins in the past. But there wasn't a good way to test it. From past experiments she knew that her cells did not keep their regenerative properties past a couple minutes once removed from her body. Leaning back in a chair, eyes covered my her right arm she let her mind drift.

She gave it a thought for a moment. That didn't sound like a bad idea. Actually, it was probably best. "That's a great idea. I probably shouldn't be around too many mages all the time given what it seems to do to me anyway. I might wake up feeling all funny and a different color." She kind of had to wonder what he father did that he would be able to pay for their housing but she didn't want to pry. "I think I'd rather pay for it ourselves. Then it's our place and know we can actually afford it if we had to. Though I haven't had the chance to start any jobs yet. I just joined."

Sayuri Was right about the darkness. When she had produced some in her hand it felt... empty. It had a strange drawing effect up close similar to the light earlier. But when it was dispelled she snapped out of it. "Yes I see. It is very strange. I don't know what that would do to me." Taking a step back she shook off the odd feeling and the smile returned.

"Well, I'm new here and only have the guild hall to stay at. Maybe we should save shopping for later and look for your place. I can do some home searching with you." It sounded like a good idea. She had no idea what places were available or the prices in Magnolia. Ariel didn't have the greatest of planning skills to be honest.

From the sky above the tower could be seen quite clearly. It have almost been a struggle getting to this point. Angel had found Sarah to be quite stubborn much of the time, a trait that the magical being did not quite understand. Should she not want to help people. Having been in a stalemate for hours the disgruntled teen relented when her mother was mentioned. Parental figures were not something present since her mother passed. She had been a kind woman and would have been proud to know that her daughter was doing more to improve others lives.

Damned if that thought didn't make her cave. This "social experiment" was going to be rough. To some extent she was the kind of punk that heroes would slap on the wrist and lecture to no end. There was no revelation that changed her heart or tragedy that made her see the error of her ways. No, she found a magic puzzle and boom, you're an angel now! Oh by the way it comes with a nagging conscience that'll drive you mad. Though as it was explained to her by the said angel she was only a manifestation of her inner being. Whatever the hell that meant.

Swooping down Angel gazed over the structure. It was larger than she expected. But living in the ghetto wasn't exactly where you would find big fancy buildings. Apparently everything having been attended to before her arrival she was able to enter without any trouble. Yep, a lot more fancy. Almost anything here could fetch a pretty penny. Though something like theft was outside her ability now. Hearing some voices Angel headed in the direction of the kitchen. Sarah might not want to be around anyone but GA wanted to meet her teammates.

"Greetings all. My name is Guardian Angel. May I inquire whom I am speaking?" She spoke in a soft voice as she took a slight bow. Angel had a rather dated way of speaking. At times it confused Sarah because she has no idea where it came from. The only thing she could figure is it was from the stupid rune. Angel's appearance was definitely from another time having something more akin to light roman like robes. One other detail is she looked older than the other members, maybe falling around 25 or 26. Rather odd considering that Sarah was actually one of the youngest of them all.
