Sorry but I think this one is dead in the water.

"I have a lot to do right now" is what I usually say right before I spend a lot of time not doing a lot of the things that need to be done right now. So go forth, do the things that need to be done! I've got a lot to do right now, and I'm still wrapped up in bed, checking subscriptions here and getting sucked into Wikipedia and the like!

Writing a reply in bed, on a tablet whatchamacallit, so apologies for typos and the like in advance. And, also, I probably should have been clearer about the effects (or lack thereof) on the ship itself!
So this is how I see it; there'd be a momentary sensation of "dropping" as the ship dives into the Unreal. If you've ever been on a rollercoaster that suddenly drops, and how your organs and other icky interior bits are briefly not falling at quite the same moment that you are... it'd feel like that. I think that it's something to do with how your organs are suspended inside you, or something like that. It probably effects Toony more, on account of being all liquid-y, and that would explain her reaction to it.
During the travel period, if all goes well, those inside the bubble created by the engine shouldn't feel too much in the way of acceleration. I have many exciting ideas for what might happen when all does not go well.
