PRIMARCH TARANIS

Gender: Male

Homeworld: When the chaos gods scattered the primarchs across the galaxy, Taranis was sent to the world of Cogitatio, an industrial world blanketed with millions of factories, which spewed green house gasses into the atmosphere, giving it a heavy, toxic atmosphere. Those who ventured outside, protected by suits from the hostile environment, would always face the same weather, raging storms and furious winds. At the epoch, it had fallen under the dictatorship of the Convention, a shadowy alliance of the most powerful and influential men in the world, who enforced what they saw as the path to a greater future on the population, crushing their rebellions and treating them like cattle. Taranis was found and raised by one of them, who went only by the name of 'Grandfather'.

A man of learning and Ideas, Grandfather taught Taranis the ways of manipulation, of ruling, and of science, greatly valued by the Convention. Growing up, however, Taranis realized that the ideals of the Convetion were not applied to the populace, and so he led a revolt against their tyranny, slaying them all, including Grandfather. The people hailed Taranis as their savior, and he took the place of the Convention, filling the power vacuum with a benevolent dictatorship. Under his rule, the people were taught to think once again, and Cogiatio became a center of learning and science across the sector.

Appearance: In the manner of Astartes in general, Taranis is an extremely physically imposing man, standing taller than any mortal has a right to. Exceptional about him, however, is the degree of augmentations he has, of which a completely augmented hand and half his face being mechanical are just the most visible.

Personality: Taranis is, at heart, a very cautious man, especially by primarch standards. Not one to charge blindly into danger, he prefers to have all his assets on hand before gambling with the lives of his legionnaires. He is also notable among his brothers by his dislike of battle and war, much preferring to read and think than to kill a man. When questioned on this, his usual answer is: "I fight for peace, not for war".

The Cog Knight Legion

Favored tactics: In battle, the Cog Knights fight offensively and heavily, making a great deal of use of armored warfare to smash the enemy lines, and exploit openings before the foe can react.

Favored battlefield role: This Legion finds it's raison d'etre in the conduct of mechanized warfare. They have a vast repertoire of machines of war, and they are also renown for their technical skills. This expertise with machinery also extends to space, as their naval flotilla is one of the most daunting among the Legions, and the backbone of the Imperial Navy in battle.

Legion Characteristics/Ideology: The Cog Knights have embraced fully the Imperial ideas of rationalism and utilitarianism, making it their goal to defend humanity from ignorance and superstition. They see science and technology, particularly augmentics, as the path to a greater future, and as such they have close links with the Adeptus Mechanicus.

Hated Enemy: N/A

He is right. At this point in time Chaos is largely unknown. I should have put an Optional next to hatred enemy.

EDIT: Otherwise, the chapter is approved. Feel free to put them into the Character thread.

And mine?
Hated Enemy: Forces of Chaos.

I don't think this is what he meant there. We don't even know that chaos exists yet, if we're going by 40k timeline.

Reserved for my app. I'll probably be making a tech-focused legion, sort of like the Adeptus Mechanicus, but except Space Marines.

I proposed this exact same idea last year, with no takers. Hell yeah I'm in!

(Also, wow this is well timed, I just started reading the Ciaphas Cain books yesterday)
This RP looks like it's going to end up being something great. If it's anything like Tales of a Gilded Throne, which seems to be the case, I'm sure it'll be a blast.

If nobody minds, I'd like to reserve House Thralon of Euritia. Hopefully I can pull some interesting shenanigans with them. Is there any established lore on the region that you have planned or hasn't been posted yet, Gowi?

Well, I wrote up a lot of lore about our highlands here, but I need to rework it due to Gowi's cannon.
Well, that's uncouth.
Gowi and I are still hanging about the chatzy, btw. Feel free to ask us anything.
I'm hanging out in this chat room, btw:
