New Zealand's population in 1980, according to Google, was 3,113,000. If New Zealand's military is 10% of that, then it's total military strength is 311,300. That is if New Zealand is, for whatever reason, pushing its military numbers to the max. If it's not (as is more likely), then it's probably less than that. But that depends on how much of the population you want in the military.
I'm just going to add that NZ probably cannot sustain that number. Having that many people in the military means you have to be able to pay them and arm them, and that can be expensive. New Zealand also will not realistically have the power projection to be able to send that many people over seas, which means a sizable army is pointless.
@vilageidiotx I would consider going in as something that sort of ties into paramedic work. So when I get out of the military, I can go into some kind of rescue job or something.
Yeh, I dunno much about that. You'd have to google around and see what people in that field think gaining experience from the military.
I'm not going to bother quoting all the shit two pages back, but.. I don't want to join the Army. I sort of want to join the Marines, but I'll admit that's sort of faded away as I've grown older. I still sort of want to do it, but a part of me doesn't, for a variety of reasons. That said, I was about to enlist, like.. literally I was one car trip away from it, but then I stopped the process altogether and decided I wasn't sure. And here I am wondering if I should go back. I'm thinking of doing it though, just because I honestly have no fuckin' idea what to do with my life.
The military is one of those things you should probably gage with your career. I know quite a few people who have joined, and I've noticed they tend to have the same problems that people who student loan'ed their way through a humanities degree: They don't have experience relevant to anything in the civilian workforce. My first job was sitting around a computer lab in a section 8 housing complex making sure people didn't steal anything or download porn. One of the things they decided to do was set up a station for job searching, which consisted of an ancient-as-fuck computer that linked directly to the state unemployment office's website, and a bunch of How-to booklets. The booklets were for people who would have additional difficulties. Shit like "How to get a Job if you never have had one." and "How to get a job if you just got out of prison." Another one was "How to get a job if you just got out of the military." The biggest perk, as far as I can tell, is assloads of money for school. It is a good option for people who need that. When my cousin found out that military experience had done absolutely jack shit to further her field, she managed to use the assloads of money to get into a top school. That's the biggest perk. But the modern employer isn't very sentimental. They like the type of experience specific to what the job is. I have heard cops and technicians tend to come out of the military pretty well, but I don't think I've known anybody who has done that. Right now, your best best is to either luck into the Entertainment industry or get a cushy Government job. Everything else... everything else is falling apart.
I feel like this can be our go-to map for easy editability, and the fancy maps can come along whenever anyone has sufficient image editing skills to do so. I, however, only have Microsoft Paint and a grim determination XD Nah, just a map I made directly from the 1836 one for Vicky 2. Could be used for such, though. Also, revised if you didn't see it yet: http://i.imgur.com/IJiZQM5.png
Mostly nailed it. There are a few things though Regarding Africa, you forgot the parts of Libya that belong to Ethiopia. Also, the border with Nigeria is a little off (the three Spanish provinces that jut out from the rest should be Ethiopian). Socotra and Pemba are also Ethiopian... but that is hard to see on the map so I am not too worried about it. I made a much more detailed map of Africa that overlayed on the real world map for reference. Here. If anybody ever needs it for future reference, it is linked to from my character sheet. The only other things I can see is that Malta is marked as British when it should be Spanish, and Korea should be divided between North and South.
YOU BEST BE WRITIN' LONG IF YOU WANT TO PASS THE CRUCIBLE. * Goes back to Netflix cave. *
It just sort of happens with practice. In the post I am working on now, it takes about 1500 words for Sahle to wake up, flush his shirt down the toilet, and walk outside.
Unrelated, I logged onto the Wiki and found this notification:
Better late than never.
Pakistan is a part of the new Indian Federation, though isn't it? Or am I reading the overview wrong?
No, I don't believe it is. The two lore summary posts below the OP has more information that the NPC factsheet. Basically, it has everything we decided was absolute canon as of our move to this forum. Of course, more things have been added since, but for the most part it will give you the most concise, detailed information. And be wary of the wiki. The wiki isn't completely updated, so some of that stuff is way crazy outdated. EDIT: Nope, it definetly is. The map doesn't properly represent the truth, which is my fault since I drew the map. Pakistan's history is this Pakistan, as such, does not exist. Part of India until 1971, it has since the collapse of central authority been divided into petty states by warlords, religious leaders and adventurers. Only in October 1976, following the takeover of Bengal by the UFI, was order imposed once again upon the region by the persian military, who occupied the Indus river valley preventively, as UFI forces were nearing on Ahmedabad, in nearby Gujarat. Since the armistice in late 1977, it has been reintegrated into a federal Indian state, with wide autonomy for its constitutive regions, Punjab, Balochistan, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkwa."
<Snipped quote by Dinh AaronMk> Sexcellent. ( ° ͡ ͜ʖ° ͡ ) Hopefully, I should have the first post for Mexico done before the night is over. On a side note, I've decided to start a little modding project in Civ V for the PoW nations. So far, I've started on Spain, China, Ethiopia, and Canada, and have jotted down concepts for the Russian Republic, Britain, and the US. It shouldn't be done too soon, but I do intend to finish it.
Keep us posted. I'd play the fuck out of that.
Ain't mah fault I got a half dozen things going on. But so long as the dogfight stays on hold for however long it takes Googer I don't feel under pressure.
I believe he just advanced it.
I'll be back to writing a probably 10k post for this.
Gotta learn how to divide this shit up, bruh.
