This'll give you a very basic idea of what is taken and what isn't. By 'Strict Canon', I mean that is an area that has been everybody else's bitch for so long that we couldn't really make any changes to accommodate you there, so if you wanted to take it you'd have to take it as it is. And the 'Maybe taken' stuff is places that are up in the air. Some of it, like Hugs' Germany and Veo's Persia, are more grandfathered into that person's name than truly taken, so you'd have to ask them about it.

And of course, this map is crazy rough. The borders are actually quite different.
