The HEART Initiative (A Kingdom Hearts story)

Timeline

April 1, 1928
A peculiar visitor befriends American film producer and animator Walt Disney. The visitor shares secrets of the existence of other worlds and mystical keys that can unlock unseen doors. Later that year, Disney develops animated short films Plane Crazy and Steamboat Willie, starring his company's new mascot Mickey Mouse. The visitor then vanishes without a trace, but not before vowing to return at an unknown time.

Spring 1932
Two other visitors, claiming to be friends of the first, meet Walt Disney. They leave as soon as they find out that "the King isn't here." Walt later introduces Goofy and Donald Duck into the company's collection of animated characters.

February 2000
Kingdom Hearts, an action roleplaying game featuring Disney and Final Fantasy characters, begins development. Months prior, the game's developer Tetsuya Nomura receives a surprise visit from Walt Disney's secret friend. Kingdom Hearts is released in 2002.

March 2012
Manchac Swamp, Louisiana, USA: Several eyewitnesses claim to have seen "large dark amphibians with glowing yellow eyes," thought to be a new species of gargantuan frogs. Days later, the same mysterious creatures begin appearing in several parts of the globe, especially in heavily forested areas and locations of frequent civil strife. Reluctantly identified as "Heartless" by authorities, due to their uncanny resemblance to the creatures of the same name in the Kingdom Hearts video games. The emergence of Heartless creates a worldwide sensation, baffling scientific minds and startling religious leaders.

Without warning, the Heartless, who at first avoided human contact, begin a full-scale attack. Cities and locations with heavy population were the primary targets. Many of the victims were inexplicably "dematerialized," when their hearts were consumed, while others were killed in the ensuing chaos and destruction. The First Wave, the initial world-wide offensive on the human race, results in a tragic decrease of the global population.

February 2013
In the aftermath of the First Wave, some begin to develop superhuman and magical abilities. The United States Department of Defense takes special interest in these individuals and recruits them into a counterstrike force against the Heartless. The Second Wave of Heartless occurs, this time outmatched by humans around the world that have demonstrated unnatural power.

September 2014
The HEART Academy opens as a higher-learning institute dedicated to training students against the Heartless threat. However, admission is by invitation only. All students have superhuman or supernatural abilities.

Ideas:

Ever wondered what would happen if Kingdom Hearts turned out to be real? If Heartless emerged from the shadows and attacked us without warning? If you care to entertain the idea, you will play the role of a 17+ year old student at HEART Academy. At first it's everything you expect from rigorous combat training, analyzing Heartless behavior, and learning to work as a team with other students. Then you begin to suspect that there is much more to this school. You can't help but think that there are unseen forces at work, but are they sinister or benevolent? Little do you know that your world, once innocent, now plays an imporant role in the epic battle between Light and Darkness.

*Featuring: A unique take on Kingdom Hearts lore, especially on the origin of Light and Darkness. Keyblades unique to our world. Shameless Square character cameos. College-aged fun.

Canon ground unscathed? Everything you know is a lie. Except cake.

Set ending? Yes, and in doing so you will find out who the real enemy is.

Hey folks,

I know it's been like more than two weeks since I did anything. I am very sorry for the delays. In fact, I'll just confess. I am sorry that I just simply lost inspiration for this. The build up was amazing, and the hype was real. I didn't expect this many people to even sign up for it, and at the same time, I didn't expect many to stick around. Work and school is something I can deal with, but in all my years, I never found a cure for any syndrome of writer's block and depression. In my case, it's something more complicated: I am more inspired to write about another fan-based roleplay, and it's blocking out whatever ideas I had for this one. It's almost becoming an unwanted obsession, and the longer I ignore it for the sake of continuing this roleplay, the more painful it becomes to fulfill obligations I have for you all. I can't do that you guys anymore. You deserve better than that. Is it over for the Brotherhood? Not really. This will stay alive as long as I have people participating, even if it means having an agonizing, but meaningful post rate of once a month (ouch). My goal for this is to have a Brotherhood story that parallels every SAO anime arc until Gun Gale Online. And while I do have some plot devices in mind to help connect each one, what excited me more was wondering how you all would evolve your characters had we gone through the continuing anime arcs. Would everyone survive? Would you introduce another character? Who are the players behind the avatars(that I am really interested in)? I can go on and weep about what could have been, but as someone who tries to put a bit of my faith in everything that I do, I will remain hopeful. We might never see a finished set of stories. I'm not exactly consistent on things. That being said, don't be alarmed if for some reason I decided to time skip and bring us to the ALO arc, and have you all rely on impromptu flashbacks on what transpired since (fair warning).

For those of you who don't me yet, I am full of surprises and disappointments. I have never been successful on my own, there were always people to support me and help carry a roleplay. I am sorry if this upsets any of you, really I am. If you're not too angry, if you want to know what I will work on now that I have unburdened myself, I'll leave it at this:

I have keys to collect, doors to open, worlds to save, and a Kingdom filled with hearts longing to be set ablaze.

Blindsided, Vegnya took the brunt of the tackle to her ribcage. They both impacted with the floor and rolled to a stop. Ezzy followed with her usual display of affection, putting Vegnya in limbo between a sensation of pain and pleasure.

"If it means anything I didn't vote cuz I didn't know what to pick, she confessed, with Vegnya cringing at her honesty. "But maybe I should've?" she asked.

"Well, maybe you should have just--I mean....hey..." Vegnya resisted and struggled for words, but Ezzy's cuddle attacks were beginning to get the best of her. "Err, Ezz, AWRF! RRRAWF! I mean, stahp! We can do this later...la...ter. Oh please, massage my back!" She moaned while turning to lay prone on her chest.

"Hmmm... It is a little on-the-nose, isn't it? Maybe it could use some lines about chivalry, valor and knighthood."

Ramiela's enormous chest impeded Vegnya's view of the woman's face. She was compelled to throw Ezzy off and stand, but having been pinned by the berserker, Vegnya had no other alternative to just simply looking up. Even from this view, Ramiela's other stunning bodily features could be appreciated.

"Yeah, okay, Saber-Chan!" Vegnya joked. She appreciated Ramiela's feedback, and it sounded like an exciting idea to style themselves after virtuous warriors. However, knowing some of the male members in the Brotherhood, especially the likes of Jester, Noya, and Vin Diesel, they would be seen as a laughing stock. No one would take them seriously! "Hey, Ram-Ram. If you can think up of any words to go with that suggestion, I'd like to hear it...

Not that Vegnya was too lazy to try, but she distracted by the one object in the room that didn't seem to belong. She wondered when she called for a wine barrel...
