Ok this is a fault in my part. I should have cleared it by saying That yes religion has a role to play in this conflict i was just pointing out to TheMadAsshatter that he is also leaving out Colonialism as a factor to why the Middle East (and other places) is so deep in conflicts and other struggles.

I also like to think western society thinks that but you might be surprised how much intolerance western societies can have (im speaking from a personal level). Im not saying western society actually practices it but the idea still remains. Also as a forward thinking western society should we not have any corporal punishment?
