For some it is the only thing that grounds them to living. Which may be a weak trait to rely on something or someone to live but why would you take that away from them? If that is what they need then whatever. Do I think a lot of the religious rules are BS? Sure, and do I think they should force their beliefs onto others and put people down for not believing or even scaring or terrorizing people for going against their faith? Hell no. but you putting someone down who has some sort of faith in some higher being down makes you no better. That is why they think you are evil. I just don't understand where the whole "we dont believe in their personal sky daddy" came from. It isn't necessary to prove your point. You can make an argument and not be nasty about it.

Putting down religion where? When? I haven't heard of this. Correction: I have but when we do it because religion is putting down The LGBT community, ethnic minorities or others. We ask them how can you defend a faith that supports this? How can your god be so god when he tells you to do this? If this is the only thing that is keeping them alive then i deeply recommend a psychiatrist and some professional aid. What you have to realise is that we are not putting down them for following that religion but we are criticising the religion itself and what it teaches.

Its not like i go out of my way to deeply wound them, that is not my purpose nor do i think its any atheists. The purpose is to hopefully make them open their mind. And yes i have been called a dirty atheist before but i just laughed at them in return.

The "sky daddy" comment was supposed to add some light hearted humour to my argument. I mean thats how i see him, a fatherly figure who created us, guiding us, helping us, loving us, punishing us and ALWAYS watching us. It was not supposed to be nasty so i apologise if it offended.

Saying "i don't like god" might have been the wrong thing to say. Atheists lack the belief in god so how can we hate something we don't believe in? Also it might have been better to ease them into the idea first...
