Um, where would my character be able to insert himself to the most interesting way? Like... who wants ta meet deh mute one. (He's not actually mute, but people would likely think so)

That's the best way to go- loud and obvious. Not much choice if you're feeding several thousand, of course, but the mere thought of a great big noisy jury-rigged armored bus would send Ro cringing.

I do hope the plot contains, at one point or another, something that cuts the numbers down, so that stealth missions are much more likely. Speaking of which, how long will this fog last?

That's about... oh, enough space to carry at least 20 of those big robots per nuclear carrier, and there's 10 of those...

Herm, America also has a carrier fleet in Japan. I wonder if that's what's actually keeping Japan safe... wait, no, there are two supercarriers stationed at Japan. Those carriers could do more than a superrobot, with those 700-sorties-a-day capability.

Yeah, I can understand that, but you're sitting on the first xeno soil humans have ever set foot on- with possible xeno pathogens and hostile xeno creatures. As in, this is your first step on an extraterrestrial planet- and a dropship is unlikely to have space wasted on an origami patio.

Walk down a ramp, set down a lawn chair, twirl an umbrella over your shoulder and take a seat, that's cool. But a patio unfolding from the back of a dropship, manned by a desperate military operation, ain't too terribly likely, you know? I mean, I'd like to keep it, but it just isn't all that... reasonable, you know? Keep it for now, but if you have time to kill sometime later, would you mind fleshing the post out a bit more, and maybe a bit more suitable for the whole planet explorers thing.
