The Sea Hawk was a mighty vessel built with speed and crew in mind. She had a threefold sail shape and was capable of flanking even the most maneuverable of military crafts. She was well loved by the sea with few stresses showing on the mast. It was the deck and sides that showed its trade. Cannon scars and bullet holes could be seen even without squinting. Hack marks from axes and hooks lined the railings. It was a ship that carried its crew into excitement and danger instead of taking them to safety. Of course a ship is only at the mercy of its captain and The Sea Hawk’s captain was Oliver Tressilian.

The sun was rising over the beaches of Normandy when the Captain walked up to the top deck of the ship. The crew gave nothing more than a nod as they were in the full swing of preparing for the days tasks. Oliver’s first mate, Mohammed, shouted an announcement of Oliver’s arrival when he reached the steering wheel. The young ship hand who was behind it stepped to the side and let Oliver take over. “It would seem the good lord has seen fit to give us fair weather Captain.” He said and then left.

“The boy speaks well does he not?” Oliver mused to his first mate. The man was often the more ‘professional’ of the two in the day to day tasks of reading and maintaining a ship; however, it was because of this that Oliver got along so well with Mohammed. As Mohammed led other believers of Islam in their daily prayers Oliver would study the maps and trade routes for their next plunder. As Oliver dealt with villainy and scum to secure sales of their plunder Mohammed would translate and access knowledge hidden from white men.

“Are you sure about this protection theory?” Mohammed asked with his deep tone. He was a naturally large man standing at over 6’ 4” that was toned by several years of slave work there were few who ever considered Mohammed anything other than a force of nature. “The crew is content with our haul from the Spanish merchant we boarded a few days ago. Another attack could earn us too much attention from Spain. Their military is already searches for us to the south.”

“It is for that very reason we should inquire about the treasures this ship holds. Anything important enough to decree safe passage for one ship along with acceptance from all means the Spanish have a true treasure. A treasure that could be used to trade for safe passage back to the New World.” Oliver had labored over the maps they had acquired from the past conquests and found a very unique pattern in the recent merchant ships. All of them were taking routes that avoided the central channel waterway. A natural current that swept down from the north towards France and Spain.

Normally this would be one of the busiest corridors of the ocean, but instead it was abandoned. It wasn’t until they found a merchant too drunk to know what a secret was to share what he had been told. Merchants from all over were sent a letter informing them that a small military convoy was setting sail from Oslo with a destination of Bilbao, Spain. With the passage through the Celtic sea blocked by the Spanish armada Oliver saw an opportunity to return to the New World or at least past the Spanish fleet. He considered the likely treasure to be some sort of payment to show Spain had Norway’s support against France and other rival countries in Europe. Promise of weapons or even new war machines. No matter what it was to seek out merchants and friendly allies to sign a stay of crossing the English Channel meant it was monstrously important. Important meant powerful and that what Oliver needed.

“The ship is prepared Captain. Flags have been changed and weapons are primed.” A deck hand called up. The timing was perfect as Oliver found a small dot in the distance. A ship was approaching and whatever it carried was about to meet its new home. The Sea Hawk flew its Spanish colors as camouflage. The plan was to get up alongside the ship and pretend to be an escort ship through hostel French waters. When the ruse was discovered they would act quickly and take the ship. Best case they take the ship as well. Worst they pull the treasure to their vessel and escape.

Name: Josefina Årud
Age: 21

Personality: Defiant, stubborn and can be very difficult to work with. She can also be a little bit up her own arse... Shes royalty and spoilt so when one gets used to such lifestyle one expects it through out. She does have a kind heart however, it takes a while to get past all the thorns. She doesnt trust people, she has had many people attempt to kill her and her family since she was born. She is always heavily guarded.

History: As said before, she is royalty, a Princess, soon to be Queen. She is the Princess of Norway but is to be married off by her father to the Prince of Spain who is next in line for the throne. This is not something she is happy with but it must be done to assure an alliance between the countries.

Ever since she was a little girl she has always wanted to be like her mother, a strong independent queen, but most of all, full of love and kindness for her family. Her mother died when she was just 12, this is what caused her rebellious stage, one she hasnt seemed to get out of.

She ran away for a few days prior to the day they were to set sail to Spain. She didnt want to go, nor did she want to marry this Prince she had never met. For all she knew he could be a complete toad. However she was found just 2 days after her disappearance, being a princess makes you rather popular, even if you arent in all your silk and lace, people still recognised her. To her displeasure.

Once home she got a lecture off of her father to which upset her, her father didnt yell at her often because she knew she was like her mother and he could never bring himself to do it, but she put her life on the line and that is something he cant let her think was okay.
She was confined to her room til the day of departure.

Name - Oliver Tressilian

Age - 25

Personality - Friendly, adaptable, action-oriented is how some would describe Oliver. In every word a "doer" who is focused on immediate results. Living in the here-and-now is the only way to live according to him, he is a risk-taker who lives a fast-paced lifestyle. Impatient with long explanations. Extremely loyal to his peers, but not usually respectful of laws and rules if they get in the way of getting things done. Great people skills.

History - Oliver was born into a wealthy merchant family whose business was overseas trade between the Mediterranean and the rest of Europe. He was raised in an environment fitting a gentleman and was expected to be one. His childhood years were full of schooling, play, and enjoying the comforts that came with money. This continued into his teen years when his father sent him to study abroad with other merchant sons.

While studying the ins and outs of the merchant ways Oliver was set to take on the family business when his fathers health began to sway. After finishing his studies he boarded a boat meant for home. Where it went was in the path of a slaving vessel. Caught off guard by slavers the ship was quickly sacked and Oliver taken by the slavers. Sold shortly after he was forced into the Spanish navy where his protests were ignored.

His slavers had branded him with several markings that made him a plague to all those within civilized society making any sort of attempt at going home difficult. When he finally did free himself from his plight he was marooned on a trading island in the Caribbean. It was here that he found himself capable of rebuilding the world around him. Gathering a crew of ex marines and slaves he took them and stormed a ship belonging to his families company.

After liberating the ship from the docks he set sail with the maps of his companies trading routes. He also found documents that showed his kidnapping was no accident. Instead it was planned by his younger brothers who, since his fathers passing, have steadily begun to lead more immoral lives while leading the company into dealing with slaves. A market Oliver and his father had vowed never to do.

Since then Oliver and his crew have set to pirating. They often leave little bloodshed; however, slave ships are not so lucky as the crew and indeed Oliver himself had little respect for those involved in the trade. Oliver has since returned to the Mediterranean seas as many of the people he has freed have promised payment upon returning home. Nearly all were good for it and those that couldn't joined on with Oliver's crew until their debt was paid. The boat and indeed Oliver himself have been called The Sea Hawk and has steadily ravaged the seas and carved his name into the hearts of many dirty merchants and navy officers alike.

I am dying to see some posts soon!

@NarcissisticPotato Not really. More the whole superior wealthy personality that is iconically known as Veronica from Archie. That said the wink kind of threw me off lol
Added an extra bit so we can all know that the sorting has begun. The timing on it was somewhat confusing for me so I figured cementing the timing was a good anchor for people to know what is going on.
The crazy spark known as team spirit was a fickle thing in Hogwarts. What had started as a team cheer ended in at least three spells being cast and a few coarse words being thrown as well. Devin saw the whole thing getting beyond out of hand, especially when Lucine stood up and nearly raised her voice. Looking back at the short series of events. The destruction of the Gryffindor scarfs was the real thorn in the whole thing. Though it seemed likely to be the work of someone who was a poor sport about last years games, Devin regrettably figured it was just someone who was feeling the joy in the room was spoiling their emo-life view.

The more playful counter to the Gryffindor spirit was cast by Alyssa. While their relationship was entirely based on the fact that friction can only cause fire the two also seemed to have something amounting to frenemies. The most damning evidence being the wink and spell combo. When thinking back on all the advice his family had given Alyssa always made Devin remember what his dad said when his son was starting to date. "There are going to be women in your life that are just bad for you. They will put you through a ringer and likely knock you down a peg. Don't let that stop you. If I had I don't think you would be around."

Mostly these thoughts were in the very back of Devin's mind as he had to deal with Alyssa quickly. Letting her get the last word or even wink never sat well with him. More than anything it was the honest spirit of competition that drove him to spar with her so often. With the muting hex lifted he quickly shouted a short retort after he saw Alyssa finish speaking to Hannah. "Hey Alyssa I finally figured out who you remind me of. You ever read the comic Archie? You are totally Veronica!"

The insult was bad in nearly every sense other than the fact that Devin was using it on Alyssa. For just about everyone in the magical world would have no idea what it meant. It was like he was speaking a different language. That fact meant Devin and possibly only Jay who was also from the States knew what he had just said. Still he gave the joke a good laugh. He wasn't as sly as to throw a wink her way. Lord knows she might just poke the eye out with her wand. Devin then turned to Lucine who had started lecturing the Gold and Crimson around her. The act wasn't completely in line with her normal personality, but Devin wasn't about to stop someone midrant.

"Alright, Alright Lucine we get it. It isn't like we are trying to steal the show from the first years. If anything we are just showing them why they should want to be a Gryffindor. I guess you could say it is a sales pitch. After all if you want to have fun with your friends at school it is hard to beat this house." Devin flashed a diplomatic smile towards Lucine and some of the other onlookers. "It got out of hand. The whole fireworks was a rotten apple in the bunch. I am sure the professors will deal with whomever thought burning stuff was reasonable. Damaging your scarf was childish and I can assure you it wasn't any of us." Devin threw an affirming look up and down the Gryffindor Quidditch team. "Still I can get you a new one if you agree to grab a butter beer with me next Hogsmeade trip. My treat."

With Devin intervening the whole ruckus had started to die down. The hall gradually returned to the normal loud roar of the first meal back at Hogwarts. The first years still had their 'deer in the headlights' look they do every year. Shortly a professor came up and started to sort the new first year students. One by one the students were sorted with each house cheering for their newest members. As one of the Gryffindor prefects Devin was charged with welcoming the lion cubs. As such he excused himself from his friends Luc and Jay and made his way down to the head of the table. He sat down and every time the hat said Gryffindor he jumped up and cheered extra loud.
I was focused on the points that my character would have been involved with or affected by. If I start recapping everything I feel I might accidentally meta game or respond to something that I am not supposed to. It wasn't meant to read like I was ignoring some posts.
