Did my post kill this thread? I thought it would be a good conversation starter for everyone?
He comes from a much more docile part of the world it would seem. All these ladies be crazy! Anyway I don't have anything planned for the game I started in my last post. I just figured if two people are online at the same time they could quickly write their characters asking each other questions. Sort of like a quick character development as it were. Feel free to again surprise and unbalance Arn as he tries to keep his head down in all these raging schemes and hormones :D
Mizuho I don't normally see it as a problem as well; however, a vast majority of the things we are talking about in the OOC and a bulk of those 200+ posts are about things that would be perfect discussion points in the role play itself. Talking about what a characters name is perfect for an actor to discuss while at the script read. Things like the core plot of the movie is something that almost every single person in this role play could have their character pitch in an idea or thought. It just feels like we are moving in the right direction just not posting them in the right section.

I am not criticizing or anything just sharing my thoughts. It also doesn't help that I am the only one with somewhat of a ticking clock when it comes to this role play and the time I will be able to dedicate to it.
Sixsmith I yield the floor to you then. I wasn't sure if anyone was already working on something. Go right ahead and I will just post after you to jump start it!
If it is alright with others I am going to go ahead and make a post to start this role play. We have over 200 OOC posts and zero IC posts (Not counting mine which I did over a week ago.) I am going to be really busy at the end of the next month and would like to get some good role play posts into this before that happens. I will simply make an invitation for all the members of the production and then start it off with my character arriving at the reading.
Throughout the dance Arn felt his mind wander. It was unlike him and above all rather rude to his dance partner who seemed far more interested in the proper steps than her partner. When the music slowed and the dance ended Arn bowed to his partner with a graceful, albeit somewhat apologetic manner. This was met with a curt bow from the woman who hastily turned to leave the dance floor with her friend.

“Perhaps you should picture your partner as a blade wielding opponent. Then your feet will find their rhythm.” Alexis said as he walked over to his friend. His comment was paying tribute to Arn’s excellent swordsmanship skills and how clean and graceful his movements are when he fought with a blade. “Though I doubt these woman are interested in a dance of death.” Alexis added with a somewhat mournful tone.

Arn could see his friend Alexis being pulled into the dark memories the Holy Land blessed those that walked its bloody path. Not to let his friend fall down the rabbit hole he smacked Alexis in the back and brought him back to the present. “Enough talk of the past. I hear there is a young duchess in need of making some poor choices with you.” The two laughed together and removed themselves from the dance floor as the music started up again.

Alexis returned to his normal party happy self as he skipped off to join a group who was beginning to play some party games. Arn made a note to join them when he returned from relieving himself. Making his way to a side room he called for a camber pot and began to prepare for its arrival. Shortly after he finished his business he returned to the large room as Alexis and the group had finished deciding what game they would entertain themselves with.

The game was called knights and knaves and it was a staple of any successful masquerade. Its goal was simple; correctly indentify everyone playing as either a knight or a knave with knights answering only truthfully while knaves only answer in lies. There are easy ways to win this game, but most enjoy the game for chances to learn silly or embarrassing things about others playing. Each person drew a small piece of fabric from a hat. If the color was black then they were a knave while a white labeled them as a knight.

Teaching and sharing the rules had already been done and the game quickly began. Hidden behind his gold and black mask, Arn’s first stop was a young woman wearing a yellow dress. His piece of white fabric tucked away in his platinum colored vest. She was the first to ask a question. “You strike me as a man with good taste.” The woman paused with a flirtatious glance through her mask. “Do you like what you see?”

The forward nature of the woman took Arn back a little, but not in a way he didn’t enjoy. He liked the gamble the woman was playing and above that enjoyed that she had laid everything out on the table as far as the joke of the game. With a friendly smile he nodded his head. “Before me indeed stands an objected to be desired and cherished.” The two laughed together until Arn continued the game. “When you arrived this evening were your intentions noble or wicked?” The question of course was a continuation of their flirting.

The woman made a face of mocked shock before she leaned forward and whispered in Arn’s ear. “My dear sir, have you not heard?” She then pulled he face back and looked at Arn with a mischievous grin. “All women carry with them wicked thoughts.” She then winked and turned to the rest of the crowd and made her way to another partner leaving Arn shaking his head and grinning.

Turning over to another group and walking towards them he began to seek out a new partner while the fun of the game already soaking into him.
Reading through all these lovely posts I realized Arn is the only one who has no idea who anyone is! He better be careful he doesn't step on anyone's toes as he gets swept up in the festivities.
The music set the tone for the night and the planned festivities like any soundtrack should. It sent people to the dance floor and commanded their movements in wondrous fashion. Music could lighten the feet of even the most dubious of dancers and it was that power that always captured Arn’s attention. Unfortunately the soundtrack of his life was different and it was, at the moment, overpowering the work of the orchestra.

“What I mean is that a lowering of the merchant licence could allow for a larger growth in trade. The benefits could be incalculable.” Montague said. His wine soaked teeth destroyed the sober front he was trying to carry. He was challenged by another as quickly as the wine glass reached Montagu’s lips.

“And I am telling you that it should be a decrease in the toll tax. Lowering the cost of the licence will only make every boy with a wagon think they can become a trader. Lower the road tolls will let us carry product further and make the profits increase. That is how you make a bridge to Asia.” Capulet was just as far down the wine barrel as the two continued to bicker.

The debate raged on as Arn strained his ears to try and hear the music more than the two old merchants cross words. The position was normal for him. Being an ambassador to what felt like all of Western Europe meant everyone who did business beyond the western walls of Vienna had to go through Arn and his country. It was a great honor of course; however, it also meant that his job was never off. Even when wine, food, and music were in the room.

With the party being a masked event he thought he could be saved from the torment of politics and greed. Even the mask didn’t hide how foolish a thought this was. Arn figured the merchants had paid off someone to describe his mask so as to find him at the party. This was normally a trick saved for a man to find a woman he fancies, but in the world of business Arn could see the merchants seeing him as a mistress of trade. The thought humored and revolted him.

Arn had finally used up the last bit of patience he had for the two and decided to put an end to the discussion. “Gentleman I beg you to hear me. The tolls pay for the roads that you use to carry goods to England. They also bring food to my countries markets. Places that see none of your goods. The merchant licence allows our own merchants a fighting chance against titans of trade such as you both. Your bellies are full and your families happy. Let that thought carry you to continue to do business with my grateful country.”

Before a word of protest came from the two Arn excused himself under the pretext that he needed another drink. The reality being he rarely touched the stuff. It was something that he had taken on during his time in the Holy Land. He was not practicing his avoidance out of a religious rule, but found the liquid lead to a dark path showcased by Montague. He wandered through the crowd until he came to the large table with food and drink. He began to decorate a plate with some food.

“You speak armed with the power of wisdom and forethought. Very befitting of the son of Nikola Von Leitner.” A man’s voice said from behind Arn. It was familiar to him and after turning around there was no surprise in finding his good family friend Alexis standing before him. The mask did a fine job of hiding his face, but nothing could hide the large belly under his coat. “Every time we see each other it seems you are spitting wit and silencing problems.” He reached out and gave Arn a hug.

“Were I truly capable of spitting wit I would never lose to you in our debates.” Arn said with a smile. He had known Alexis for many years and had been ecstatic when he had learned he was to be selected as one of his aids and fellow representatives for England. “What you witnessed was a man tired of trial and dreaming of paradise.” Arn and Alexis both laughed and walked towards the center of the crowd that had formed next to the dance hall.

“Paradise my good man, is clearly right before you.” Alexis said while motioning towards a small gathering of woman. They were standing, in obvious fashion, with a desire to be asked to dance. Their gowns, each a masterpiece of fabric and fashion caught the eyes of many and to their credit held many.

“I would rather scale the walls of Jericho.” Arn said flatly. His tone only matched by his somewhat obvious uncomfortable shift in his stance. The reaction brought on a boisterous laugh from Alexis that gathered the attention of many around them.

“My friend the crusader! He not only fights to keep the Holy Land pure, but continues the fight within himself. My goodness even a man of the cloth can approach a woman with thoughts of sin and virtue. It is only his tools that that make us different.” Alexis laughed once again and patted Arn on the back. Thankfully he had finished the food on his plate; otherwise, everything would have likely flown through the air. “Well perhaps we have approached this battlefield wrong. You normally lead the charge, but this does not require the clash of swords and will. What we need is one who is skilled in the ways of woman, a spy as it were.”

“Alexis I was not prompting you to…” But it was already do late. An unseen wink behind his mask was all Alexis gave as he walked over to the woman and began to talk with them. He could then be seen looking back and pointing to Arn. This prompted another awkward shift in the mans stance. Shortly after the group of women laughed at something Alexis said. A half step later he walked back towards Arn with the company of two women.

“My good sir. Your chivalry and status as a gentleman is known through the world out. I come here with these two beautiful flowers in hopes that you can help them with a distressing problem. It would seem that their beauty is so far beyond the understanding of man that they have yet to be courted. I humbly request that you, with your courage and nobility, might hold the key to assisting me in this dire situation.”

Alexis was a jerk of a friend at times, but when a man can use his tongue like that it never surprised Arn that he was good with woman. The woman laughed together and then the one wearing a passionate crimson red dress stepped forward and held her hand out for Arn to take. “I have been told to assure you that I do not bite.” She added as Arn respectfully took her hand. He then followed Alexis who was leading his partner to the dance floor.
I am going to get started on my post soon and should have it up before I go to bed. I will have my character starting out talking with the wealthy merchants at the party.

EDIT

post is up. Sorry it is so long. I wanted to introduce my character and his support NPC. Hope people read it, but if they haven't you can request a TL;DR summery.
Any chance this might get started soon?
