Hinode Kōgeki, Lieutenant of the Seventh Squadron- Squad 7 Barracks

Hinode took in the advice of taking the illusion but one step further, perhaps it would be worthy of her time to invest in a few Kido techniques that made other regard her as a long range combatant even more. Could be useful against Hollow as well. She nodded to her Captain, as he explained how it would go if she did use his advice. It was starting to make sense why she was the lieutenant and he was the captain, able to offer such in depth advice immediately upon hearing of her strengths and weaknesses. He had clearly been in a fight or two. Kaizo then mentioned his own strengths and how he was typically able to keep his cool. That was something to be envious about for sure.

It seemed others expected him to act in a similar way to how others expected Hinode to act. Rash, hot-headed. Stupid. But just as Hinode had been doing during her entire career as a Shinigami, he was able to exploit that in order to find a weakness.

“I typically choose to remain close to my enemy, make them think the battle could be won by either of us with a single blow, wait for the mistake and then act.” Hinode explained.

Kaizo took a deep breath before continuing on before his weaknesses. He explained that even he lost his temper in a good fight sometimes, it was something Hinode could relate with. It seemed as if he was about to continue on but he stopped himself. Hinode decided not to investigate, she would have to earn trust with her captain not demand information from him. Kaizo asked if Hinode had any other questions and she thought for a moment. She didn’t have anything left that she was specifically confused about or unsure of, however she did have one question that she had been dying to ask since she arrived.

“I’d like to go on a mission with you, Captain.” She said, stopping in the hall turning to face him. “I think it’s important for us to find out each other’s abilities on the field, not just from hearsay.” Hinode continued. She had never been on a mission with someone of his stature or abilities before. The highest ranking member of the Seireitei she had ever seen in action was her old lieutenant and now she shared her ranking. It felt like an obvious next step in order to continue to grow as a Shinigami. She glared at her new captain, eyes brimming with confidence. “Take me on a mission, don’t worry I won’t slow you down!”
Alright, well I saw that races was an option and ran with it hopefully this is allowed, if not I can always change it.

So yeah, let me know what y'all think feel free to shoot me down (though I think it'd be more interesting from a plot/political aspect to have multiple races).

Hinode Kōgeki, Lieutenant of the Seventh Squadron- Squad 7 Barracks

Hinode was ushered out by her new captain, all but ignoring the mess in front of them. She absent-mindedly adjusted Shinken while stepping over her new subordinate, Kihade. She followed Kaizo walking down the hall of her new home. She glanced up at Kaizo, he asked her what, in her opinion, her strengths and weaknesses were. Given the fact that Hinode had been told to disregard all the formal proceedings she decided she’d be more open.

“Well honestly, I figure my biggest strength is probably my stature.” Hinode said pointing herself out. The girl stood at a frail five foot four and must’ve barely clocked in past one hundred and twenty pounds. While Hollow didn’t treat prey differently based on their appearance, Shinigami most definitely did. “In a sparring match I find most people are under the assumption that I focus primarily on Kido and other forms of defensive and ranged combat.” Hinode explained, before flexing her biceps and giving Kaizo a grin “Usually they’re surprised enough for me to land the first blow, which can be all it takes.” She laughed readjusting and straightening out her jacket.

“My biggest weakness however.” Hinode thought trailing off. She clicked her tongue a few times rustling her hair. “I mean I could tell you about how I think that I struggle against an opponent who wants to keep a fight long range, but honestly Hoho makes up for that separation most of the time.” Hinode said speaking each word as if she were giving a pre-mission briefing. “I suppose my biggest weakness would have to be my temper.” Hinode said calmly. “Once I’ve been struck, I don’t like to stop fighting, it’s put me in difficult situations before and it wasn’t until I got somewhat of a handle on my temper that they higher ups gave me this promotion." Hinode spat. Did she think it was fair, them treating her talent as a liability? No. No she did not.

“What about you captain?”

Hinode Kōgeki, Lieutenant of the Seventh Squadron- Squad 7 Barracks

Hinode finished packing up her things from her small room in the second squadron headquarters. Before exiting the barracks she gave herself a second to look at it all, she took a deep sigh. Moving up from a third seat to a Lieutenant position was a big deal and it wasn’t something she was just going to let happen without seriously putting her best foot forward. Before she left she made sure to visit all the other seated Shinigami wishing them the best and whatnot.

Hinode happened upon the seventh squadron barracks, they looked relatively similar to the second squadron, though there was some less pronounced more minute differences. She stepped inside and took a deep breath, this was her new home. She proceeded to ask the nearest member of squad where she could find the Captain’s office. She could hear the whispers from around her.

”Is that the new lieutenant?”

“She looks like nothing, a scrawny blondie.”

“Even I could take her.”

“Yes I am your new Lieutenant. Trust me when I say it would not be wise to challenge either me or Shinken here.” Hinode said putting a steady grip on her sword held horizontally on her back. No one really seemed to step forward, not wanting to test their new lieutenant.

”New lieutenant, well I’ve been a member of this squadron for as long as you’ve been in the Seireitei.” A man said unsheathing his weapon and pointing it at Hinode.

“Name and rank?” Hinode said her eyes fixating on the man who dare challenge her.

“Kihade, 5th seat.” He grumbled.

“It’s nice to meet you.” Hinode said her posture adjusting slightly, left foot behind her right. She unsheathed her Zanpakuto showing it to him, before placing it at her feet. “If you wish to fight me, I will not use Shinken, I do not wish to hurt you, but I fear you’re not in a listening mood.” Hinode said calmly raising her fists in a boxer’s stance. After a quiet moment Hinode slowly extender her right arm forward.

“Will you try to strike me?” Hinode asked, a small grin forming on her mouth.

“You’ll never be my lieutenant!” Kihade yelled running at Hinode aiming a stab of his sealed-katana Zanpakuto. Hinode calmly stepped to the side simply stating “Taketonbo” before Kihade could glance over at her he was looking up at his lieutenant gasping for air. She retrieved her Zanpakuto and gave a small wave to the rest of the squadron.

She pushed open the Captain’s office doors and bowed deeply. “It’s nice to meet you, my name is Hinode Kōgeki, newly appointed lieutenant of the second squadron.” As her bow was deep and the doors were wide open, it is quite possible Kaizo could easily and adequately see the scene that had just unfolded. She rose from her bow and gave him a warm grin “I look forward to serving you, Captain.”
@Phobos Not that I really know what this means. But my characater, Hinode Kogeki could take place in the lieutenant capture arc!
I'm definitely headed the Mage Fighter route. If that's cool with anyone.

~Aphrodite Cabin, Cabin Ten - The Lake~

Beads of sweat forced themselves up through Calista’s pores. They gracefully skated from her forehead to the nape of her neck, eventually rolling over her collarbone sinking their way into her chest. Calista was entangled with her sheets wrestling with them her eyes firmly held shut. Light that flickered in and around her rose colored curtains caressed her pale skin, warming her and encouraging the sweat to continue to pour from her skin. As she jutted out of her bed she felt her damp palms hit her bed sheets and her lungs rapidly expend all of the remaining air they contained. She clutched her chest with her right hand, eyes scanning the room left hand absent mindedly on αγκαλιά which she kept under her pillow at all times while sleeping. After a few quiet moments she realized that she was being paranoid, she was still in camp half blood, she was safe.

Calista took a moment, letting her grip on αγκαλιά fade. She drew her hair back into a ponytail and used her wrist to wipe away the sweat from her brow. She took a long look at her face in the mirror that sat across from most Aphrodite cabin beds. You’re okay girl, pull yourself together.’ She knew that if Jaune were there right now she’d be getting demolished for her lack of composure.

Calista lifted herself out of her bed shedding the undergarments she had chosen as PJ’s for her nap. She quickly through on a newer pair and put on a pair of shorts, an off shoulder shirt and a pair of boots. She examined herself in the mirror making sure to perfectly recolor her hair and eyes to match the lighting before ultimately leaving the cabin. As soon as she left cabin ten she noticed the cabin’s counselor standing outside of it. His name was Colt and it was pretty clear to any outsider that he was a child of Venus. He managed to be beautiful and handsome simultaneously, something Calista actually struggled with. But hey, that’s why he was the counselor. She motioned a quick hey towards him and gave him one of those perfect “I’m a child of Aphrodite” smiles before continuing on her walk towards the lake.

Something about walking through Camp Half-Blood always made Calista feel more at home than anything else in the world. Perhaps because she didn’t really have another home. Living with Jaune never really felt homely, even though it did more or less fulfill the basic living requirements of a person. It wasn’t like Camp Half-Blood. There wasn’t hundreds of people who had similar experience to you, all trying to make the world a better place for people like them, like you. Even though they all had vastly different abilities and potential, they were all so similar.

Once Calista reached the serene lake she took a second to take a breath. She inhaled as much of the refreshing lake breeze as she could before finally, and with great patience let out a deep sigh. She opened her mouth and felt her salty tears stream down into it. She could barely remember her dream, a man standing at the end of a pier, falling in. She knew it was her father but she also knew that wasn’t how he had passed away. It felt wrong, yet at the same time it felt incredibly real. She pushed the thought from her mind as she wiped the tears from her cheeks. Picking up a rock and chucking it into the lake absent-mindedly. It felt good, a show of brute force like that to get the blood pumping. She picked up another rock and threw it in, and another.

It wasn’t until Calista had already let the fourth rock launch that she noticed a person under the water. She looked around, but nobody else
was there.

“Zeus, not here. No one is going to drown in this place.” Calista said ripping off her shirt and shorts and quickly diving into the lake. Swimming as fast as she could, which was most likely embarrassingly slow, in order to reach the girl.
