“I liked myths. They weren't adult stories and they weren't children's stories. They were better than that. They just were.”

“Mythology is not a lie, mythology is poetry, and it is metaphorical. It has been well said that mythology is the penultimate truth--penultimate because the ultimate cannot be put into words. It is beyond words. Beyond images, beyond that bounding rim of the Buddhist Wheel of Becoming. Mythology pitches the mind beyond that rim, to what can be known but not told.”

“But a myth, to speak plainly, to me is like a menu in a fancy French restaurant: glamorous, complicated camouflage for a fact you wouldn't otherwise swallow, like maybe lima beans.”

That’s all we are to them. Myths. Our mothers, fathers, they are myths – and in that way it is best. Because if they knew what we knew, it would be a catastrophe. We are demigods. We are part divine, deity, supposed protector. But we are also, partially, you. We have the masts of the gods, but our anchors are still very much in the realm of people.

Shangri-la is a large lodge located off of a main road, three days hike into the forests of Lewis County in New York.

Once there, any demigod is in a safe haven thanks to the presence of the many. Demigods travel from all over the world to live in Shangri-la and some sort of exhibition of power is typically demanded to gain entry. Once there, many train to become stronger and many simply live there. However we all train to protect the people.

Well many of the older demigods say something big is coming… The Greek swear it has something to do with the Titans, the Nordic seem to think it may be a second Ragnarok. But me? I think it's worse.

OOC Information

Welcome to the world of Legion (placeholder af). You, the player, will control a demigod the child of a god of your choosing. They will arrive at Shangri-la and learn to control their godly abilities, forge friendships and teammates among other demigods and once deemed willing and able they will embark on missions. Some to attend to humanity, and some to uncover the waiting threat lurking in the shadows.

Shangri-la itself is essentially any old lodge, however it is nearly impossible to find without proper instructions that are typically given to a demigod by their godly parent or perhaps their human parent depending on the relationship the demigod has with their godly parent. The lodge is actually just a short walk away from a rather sizeable lake, and is within a clearing that is nearly impossible to see without a bird eye’s view. The rooms are like a University dorm, there is typically two to a room but sometimes there will be three or even four.

While all demigods are different, there is a main unifying curse they all possess and are completely unable to get rid of. It is the necessity to aid humanity and protect them from the monsters of the world. This is because when a demigod saves a human they will think of the god that demigod represents. For example, should a son of Zeus save a human from a minotaur – that human will think of Zeus, instinctively. These thoughts, the idea that people remember gods is hugely important. If a god is completely forgotten by humanity they will die. While a god may become reborn and live on once more they will be a completely new entity and as such a demigod will become human without their tie to that god.

This is why no matter the general disposition of most demigods they will always recognize the importance of making sure their parents are remembered.

A human is not able to comprehend the feats of demigods or the divine in general. Thusly, they may not be able to tell what a monster is, and they will faint if they witness something they cannot wrap their minds around like a massive beast. Most of the time however, they will fail to put two and two together and as such a demigod doesn’t need to do much in order to avoid being overt. Should a demigod create a tornado, no human will be able to link those two.

The world is your oyster in Shangri-la, so, what are you waiting for?

Rules

  • Keep monotheistic religions out of selection please!
  • Your demigod can have any godly figure from mythology as their parent. This is not limited to the 'good guys'. You may have a child of a Titan as far as I'm concerned. As long as it abides by all other rules, be creative!
  • If you have a serious disagreement with someone either talk it out like responsible people or if you think that isn't an option come to us.
  • Pls have fun with this. Whatever that means to you, as long as you're not obstructing other players from having fun I would love to have every single player enjoy this game.
  • Don't do any of the obvious faux pas's. Godmodding, etc.
  • Tell me I'm ur fav at the end of ur extra section so I know you're a good listener.
I'll probably throw an OOC up soon considering we have around five or so people already!
@Masaki Haruna

Monotheistic religions are any religions which center around a single god!

Christianity being the most obvious example in the Western world.

Med Ward,
Bianca & Estelle

***

Bianca awoke from her slumber to find her older sister, sitting asleep by her bedside. She unstably raised herself up, pushing on the cot with her palms and scooching backwards in order to put her back against the pillow. She examined the room she was being held in. It was monotonous in design, all too similar to the room in which she was held in for longer than she could recall. An electric light hummed loudly above her head, when she glanced at it she noticed the light refracting through an I.V. which when glancing down at her arm seemed to be plugged into her. She tried to move her right leg, but felt as though there we holes in it. No doubt from bruising. She found herself out of breath after sitting up, breathing felt sharply and acutely painful. She winced.

Estelle awoke with a startle, her hand immediately reaching out for her little sister. She found Bianca’s hand and grabbed it, tightly but Bianca felt no pain. Her eyes darted around the room and met Bianca’s.

She calmed as Bianca seemingly noticed every facial feature return to Estelle’s typical demeanor, yet slightly off. Gone were her typically folded arms, small scowl, pointed eyes, flaring nostrils. This was not the Estelle who was attempting to teach her little sister why taking a cookie from the jar. Her nostrils still flared, but they seemed to be in order to warn the older Nuit that her tear ducts were opening. Her hands were both on the hospital bed, balled up into small fists that could shatter Bianca’s entire reality. Her bottom lip trembled, and she seemed to be biting it, a small indent from where she had been biting before remained on one corner. Bianca had grown all too accustomed to the signs of Estelle seeing loved ones die.

“Estelle, I know that I-“ Bianca began, her voice was hoarse – the first couple days of torture had seemingly injured her vocal chords. But she stopped as she watched a tear escape Estelle’s trembling visage. But she did not move, she did not excuse herself for her tears, nor did she pretend that she wasn’t crying.

Estelle attempted to shrug it off, it’s what she had been doing while she waited for her sister to regain consciousness, sitting in a cold waiting room. When she had spoken to Ozpin, Bianca’s team, their father, the nurses – she had maintained her composure. But she struggled to continue to do so now that she was looking her idiot of a sister directly in her giant pale blue eyes. To see her like she was, she had bruises on her throat that looked like strangulation. She had come in back to Beacon in someone else's clothes and Gratia’s coat. God knows where she got them from and where her old clothes were. Estelle could barely contain her emotions and she didn’t even know what they were. The elder sister placed her right hand back onto Bianca’s bruised hands and softly stroked the back of her hand with her thumb. She wanted to scream at her sister, punch her, kiss her, hold her, tell her to get back on the saddle, take her home to Mistral. She needed to make her sister’s pain, the pain that would follow Bianca around for the rest of her life, she needed it to go away. It would not.

“You sent a letter to a team of freshman to come and save you.” Estelle’s shaky voice blurted out.
Bianca’s eyes widened. She was surprised by her sister, that this was the direction she was heading. Bianca had known when Marissa had sent the letter to Gratia that Estelle was going to be angry. But for whatever reason when Marissa had asked Bianca who to send the letter to, she had given her the address of her old team’s room at Beacon. But it wasn’t ‘whatever reason’.

“It’s because of mom.” Bianca said not meeting her sister’s fiery gaze. “When I lost mom, I thought it was the worst thing that could’ve happened to me, when I got kidnapped I thought that was the worst.” Bianca’s voice was pitifully quiet, her usual singsong voice sounded like an entirely different person. “And then Marissa asked me who to send my letter to, who to ask for help.” Bianca’s voice grew quieter. “I thought if I asked for your help, they would capture you, you would’ve left immediately, you didn’t know your team, you would’ve just” she didn’t know what to say. “After I lost mom, I couldn’t lose you too.” Bianca said quietly towards her lap.

“And you’re fine with losing your friends?” Estelle snapped back, shutting her sister up almost immediately.

“No, I could never… But Gratia, you didn’t see her, you haven’t… She isn’t like me… Weak, defenseless… I- She-“

You didn’t lose mom Bianca.” Estelle said not letting the silence envelop the hospital room once more. “We lost her. You, me, dad – we all went to the fucking funeral together.” Estelle said snapping, her voice cracking. She opened her mouth to continue, as two tears raced down opposing cheeks towards her chin, but the only noise that came out was a soft exasperated cry. “Why don’t you get that we are supposed to be a team?” Estelle asked, begging for an answer.

“I’m sorry Estelle.” Bianca said, the sound from the young girl barely competing with the humming from the light. “I’m so sorry.” She said, sharply inhaling as a tear escaped. She looked up at her sister, with her bruised cheeks and empty eyes. “I didn’t know what to do.” She said as she began weeping. Her sister joined her as they embraced.

The girls stayed like that, their eyes swelling and cheeks drying up after about fifteen minutes. A long silence followed their tears.

“I got you something, okay?” Estelle said, her voice much more stable than it was before. Bianca nodded clueless. Estelle pulled a bag out from underneath the gurney that Bianca laid upon. It was a small, illustrious bag that was encrusted with onyx gemstones and some brilliant purple amethyst.

“That’s my old training bag, what did we call it?” Bianca said, reminiscing with a weak smile.

“C’est la Vie.” Estelle confirmed.

“Thank you Estelle, but what is it for?” Bianca questioned. Estelle simply pointed to an inscription that was not there the last time Bianca’s gentle hands held the bag. “Petit a petit, l’oiseau fait son nid.” Bianca read aloud.

“Little by little, the bird makes its nest.” Estelle mused.

“I know what it says, what does it mean?” Bianca asked in a somewhat callous tone.

“Ozpin is offering you a position on team JCL.” Estelle said gazing directly into her sister’s eyes.

Bianca nodded and placed the handbag back into its packaging, placing that beside her bed. “We’ll talk about it tomorrow, why don’t you get some rest – you look like shit.” Bianca said laying back down in her bed and turning away from Estelle. Her sister nodded, walking towards the door.

“Whatever mess you leave, Bianca. I’ll be by tomorrow to pick up the pieces.” She said quietly, leaving her sister.
One. Hour.
One hour you lil shits.
