Bump! I found a taker but I'm actually interested in one more!
Hello all!

So, I've been diving back into State of Decay 2 and it made me realize that I would really love to play with the setting/world. Specifically with the community aspect being a huge plot point. Less focus on characters trying to get out of dodge and more focused on trying to rebuild and make life bearable again while creating stories for the characters' lives. Ideally, I would like there to be a mix of everything. Obviously horror, some slice of apocalyptic life, angst, romance, action, etc. Since the community would play a huge part I would like someone who doesn't mind playing other characters and developing their stories as well as light NPCing sometimes. If you're not familiar with State of Decay that's alright, we can construct our own world with its own rules, but my preference is for using the game's world because I really enjoy it. I also haven't beaten it so the "main story" will be whatever the hell we make it.

Now, I kind of love some of the survivors and find the way the game gives us enough info to know some things about them but still keeps it vague actually pretty cool (I also really like how the game defines the starting pair's relationships), so I kind of would like to expand on them. At the same time, making up our own survivors would be super cool. I'm thinking I would like to do a mix of both because I have some ideas for OCs but also find myself wanting to write for some of the survivors I've met so far. The RP would start with our pair (maybe some others) dramatically escaping to their new base where either they are the first ones and decide to start their new crappy lives or where there are people already set up who allow them to stay. They could be strangers or we could write up a history for them to have together.

Now for the logistics of it all.

* There's no paragraph requirement. I just ask you to be fluid and ready to write whatever amount the scene calls for! Sometimes a lot won't be happening other than two characters chatting so one-liners would be fine. Sometimes a lot is going on so a couple of paragraphs would get the job done. And sometimes, whether because of setup or something major happening, a lot more would be helpful! But a constant stream of any of them could get old/tiring/difficult to maintain. That being said if you have a style preference that's cool. More words isn't always more effort and less isn't always less. At the end of the day, I just want equal effort and that doesn't really have a whole lot to do with word length.

* There's going to be a lot of gorey descriptions, so make sure you're okay with that! Also, I don't mind exploring rough subjects, but they must be done because they add something to the narrative and are handled respectfully. Communication about this is important!

* I prefer to write in PMs just because I like the freedom of not having to worry too much about what's being written. OOC communication is GREAT and I love shooting the shit while we write so we can casually plan fun stuff to do. It's not a must.

* I like to make use of short scenes and time-skipping to keep things from getting stale.

* While we would have our "main group" or the group we start with, I want to focus on the whole "map" so to speak. We'd write stories for other territories whether they be the antagonists or not. I want to get attached to everyone! And if they end up warring with each other and we decide we don't want to actually have to kill off anyone we can bs something last minute because at the end of the day it's all about fun and if we have fun keeping certain people around a little longer versus killing them off in a standoff that's fine too!

* There's going to be jumping around and POV switching, but only if we're both into it. Maybe we want to keep writing these two specific survivors and forget about the rest for a while. Stuck with what to do with someone? We can POV switch to someone else. Is someone not working out? That's fine we'll kill 'em off. Or...maybe just let them rest or do other things.

* Please be 18+.

* If romance happens I usually fade to black if there's nothing to add to the scene. By that I mean, if it's a huge and emotional moment, they may get interrupted, etc, then I'll write it out. If not, I tend to fade to black. There also may be times when I just don't want to write smut so please respect if that's the case!

* As for pairings, I would like a partner who is okay with writing them all or at least more than just M/F. That is if any couple (or more than one) even happens. M/F, M/M, F/F — variety, please! Cute couples, toxic couples, scary couples, annoying couples...you get the idea.

* Post at your own pace. Ideally, if you're going to be gone a while a heads up would be nice! But I tend to wait forever so don't worry about driving me off if you can't post too much. I got a lot going on myself.

* In the interest of keeping myself from getting burned out I'll probably only take one partner for this one. Please PM me with your interest! I'll update if this idea got nabbed up.

* Last but not least, please feel free to add to the world or story! In fact, PLEASE do! I don't want to run the story or world all by myself. The most fun comes from two people coming up with shit together, IMO. Make up factions, zombie types, drop bits of lore about the world, or even what may have caused the outbreak. Don't worry about "messing anything up". Let's surprise each other! Or, if you want to talk out ideas before you throw them in, that's great too. We can handle that kind of thing both ways! Make things happen! Instead of just one of us acting as the world's DM we both can! Naturally, part of the fun and challenge is coming up with continuity and adding more things that add to it in a way that makes sense, because at the end of the day I want us to construct a world that runs on its own logic, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't get brave and try things out! We could always retcon.

Anyway, I think that's everything? I hope that's everything! Feel free to ask me questions.
Thanks!!
Hi, I'm super into this idea! I love building a world through rp and having multiple characters in order to breathe life into it and weave plots in an open ended way.
HEY! So, it was a reeeally long time ago when I first joined up and had to leave a couple of times because life finds a way (to mess up your hobbies), but I find myself with a more stable schedule after all this time so I have returned though I doubt anyone remembers me. I can't even remember me! I just cannot for the life of me remember what my username was. Ah well.

I suck at introducing myself so I'll just say a bunch of things and hope it makes sense.

I've been roleplaying forever, but I believe this place was my first exposure to forum roleplay. I did that for a while then moved onto another format/site, which I'm still on but admittedly still leaves me feeling like I'm not getting everything I could be out of RP! As for my RP prefs, I am usually super open to trying new things and crazy ideas, but the one common theme that I always love is horror.

I'm also an artist and I talk a lot about video games, though lately, I've only really been playing Zelda BoTw. I tend to go through phases of playing ONE THING AND ONE THING ONLY for months. I like bad horror movies, great horror movies, and weird horror movies. And bugs.

Anyway, it's super nice to be back and I look forward to (re)getting to know this place!
@Dragons I'm good with either. If you have no preference I can set up a thread.

@AmethystDagger Yes, feel free to PM me! I've been itching to do a Wolf Among Us type plot for ages!

@OakTree Fantasy sounds good to me. I keep it low fantasy because I feel like there's more wiggle room and also I'm bad at high fantasy. No need for a sample, also 1-3 paragraphs is perfectly fine. Did you have a specific preference for an idea? If not I thought the little community in a forest has potential for some fun stuff.
Whoops, I somehow missed you there @Dragons ! I would so love to do some spacey shit. Maybe there's something they pick up or bring back from a derelict ship or something which causes some craziness on their own ship...which is what leads to the inevitable crash on to a planet that houses more terrible shit and happens to be where that thing they picked up came from?
I'm totally good with PMs. And it's fine though I'll be poofing from tomorrow to sunday FYI! @Rafiel_purewing
Okay that sounds like it could be a lot of fun. Maybe in some art museum but 90% of the art there is really weird and creepy stuff just to make it even worse. @Rafiel_purewing
Hmm...technically that would be a third since I have started plotting with someone else for that idea too so I thiiink I'm going to have to cut off the modern school setting. Sorry about that I probably should have edited in a note or something. But if you have an idea for something sorta similar but different enough I'm all ears! @Rafiel_purewing
