My therapist mentioned referring me to a psychiatrist for anxiety medication, then at the next appt. said it wasn't a good idea as it doesn't the issue. I would've loved the temporary relief though...

Started calisthenics today; not to lose weight, but to get toned and get a little stronger. It's a 5x/week type deal ChatGPT drew out for me, but my snap, crackle, pop knees sure do love to complain..

She had made for her room, having heard her mother somewhere in the kitchen but not bothering to have a word. In fact, Lily hoped to be left alone altogether, to be invisible for a few hours...or at least until she was called down for dinner. The phone in her back pocket buzzed, and she pulled it out as she was heading upstairs. It was a message from Jared, but she didn't dare open it. Lily knew her relationship was all but over, that it was hanging on by a very fine thread threatening to snap at any moment with any minimal level of tension. But to see it coming directly from him would make it real and devastate her, and Lily couldn't handle that right there and then.

She closed the door behind her, leaning on it with all of her weightβ€”both physical and emotional. And as if her personal life wasn't enough of a mess already, Lily also had to worry about the upcoming midterm exams. Her grades were borderline, meaning she had to do better than average to raise her GPA and get into her university of choice. Lily had dropped her extracurricular and instead signed up to get tutored. There was extra work, but at the end of the day Jared was there to cheer her up, or at least he used to be.
Her head was leaning against the window as her boyfriend sped down the road. There was an uneasy silence in the car following the intense argument that they had just had. Jared knew how to push her buttons, but she knew how to push his as well, and there was the fact that she was better at it. He did not like that, and she was well aware of that.

Lily had been dating him for just over six months, following two prior relationships, but this time, she wanted it to work. She wanted the relationship to last, to have it eventually lead to something well past college. Lily dreamed of marriage, buying a home, and having two kids with him. But now, the farther they drove, the less likely that seemed.

A few moments later they came to a full stop in front of her house. Jared still didn't say a word. He instead raised the volume of the radio a little bit, [Like a Stone] playing through the speakers. Lily liked that song, they both did, but right that moment she couldn't enjoy it. She stared at him, but his hand rested lazily on the steering wheel at the wrist and his gaze appeared to be settled on the next door kids playing on the front lawn. Lily noticed her sister was also outside.

With a sigh, she opened the passenger door before getting out. She wanted him to say something, even a quick [Bye] would have sufficed, but he remained silent. The moment she closed his door, he drove away, leaving her standing on the sidewalk in disbelief. But a moment later Lily gathered herself and marched inside, her pride getting the better of her and even going as far as ignoring Eva.
Count me in!
Hey, so I'm still down to continue. We'll see what other people want to do!
She closed the door behind her with a sigh, leaning against it momentarily. Another student of hers had unfortunately been killed. She could only imagine the shock and grief of her parents; their world shattering to pieces in a split second upon learning that their precious daughter was gone. Their only child, as a matter of fact. Being in her own head over the news pained her heart. Annelise wasn't even two months pregnant when she lost her baby. Unbeknownst to her and her husband, the baby would have been a boy. Either way, the news devastated them both. Then her husband was called to fight and Annelise was left to deal with the aftermath on her own. To add to an even already tragic loss, her husband was killed during the war and the news left her numb. So numb that she was nearly admitted to the psychiatric hospital against her will. The fact that she was alone most of the time in the house meant battling against her own dark thoughts every once in a while, those which seemingly liked to taunt and torture her.

"Anni..."

The young woman looked up, startled by the faint whisper that seemed to come from everywhere in the front room at once. There were multiple indecipherable voices behind the whisper, but she could have sworn she heard her husband's voice above it all. Her heart was beating as if it wanted to burst through her chest, the fear temporarily paralyzing her against the door.

Breathe, remember to breathe... Annelise talked herself down, her eyes scanning the room as if she was expecting to see something, something that wasn't supposed to be there.

It was a few moments later that she finally walked towards the kitchen. Annelise would make some tea for now to settle her nerves a little bit.

Yeah I can imagine. Don't stress your finger too much!
Kara

Kara sat curled up on the couch in her apartment, wrapped in a fleece blanket. Her hands were wrapped around a chipped ceramic mug half-filled with tea that's since turned lukewarm. The TV in front of her played some documentary she wasn't fully paying attention to as she was lost in thought, mainly reliving the experience after the shooting and upon their arrival at her home.

The phone rang again. Kara stared at it. She was hesitant to pick up but after a moment she reached for it, already knowing who was on the other end of line.

"Hello?"

"Kara..." Her supervisor was on the other end, pausing for some reason before he continued. "The report with your name on it landed on my desk. I'm sure you know what this means now, don't you?"

Of course she knew. "Yes," she bit her bottom lip with enough force for it to hurt but not to draw blood, "I'm aware."

"You can come in tomorrow to return your badge and whatever else was issued to you as well as to pick up any personal belongings. Do you have any questions?"

None other than why are you so indifferent when taking away someone's livelihood?! "No sir, no questions."

The young woman refrained from making any further comment and hung up the phone. She stood frozen for a moment before having to suppress the extreme urge to cry. Then the thoughts flooded her. How am I supposed to support myself now? Do I tell mom? Do I tell my brother? Where will I live. The feeling in that moment was overwhelming, and she sunk herself deeper into her own self-made hell before taking a moment to reflect. It wasn't the end of the world, it was only a job. Granted, a job she lost, but there would be others.

Like a switch, Kara was suddenly on the move. She would head out to see a friend, someone she's known for years, and hopefully this person would help her with what she needed.

Jesus Christ that's violent. Hope you heal quickly!
Annelise MΓΌller

Gender: Female

Appearance: Annelise stands at an unimpressive height of 5’5 with light brown hair and green eyes. Her skin is somewhat pale, and her body is slightly broken down from the added responsibilities of having to help rebuild the city, or at least attempt to, due to the significant loss of life caused by the war. She doesn’t walk with a limp per se, but if she’s on her feet for the majority of the day, by evening time Annelise will often be seen using a crutch. Random bruises and scratches throughout her body is a normal occurrence.

-A small, compact mirror

Background:

What is your job:
Teacher.

Backstory:
Born into a middle class family as the first and only child, Annelise Meier didn't face any of the challenges that the poor usually dealt with. She had a relatively uneventful upbringing and would often spend time with Karl, one of the MΓΌller boys from next door.

Throughout her many years as a student, Annelise became interested in teaching. She was smart, and she would offer to tutor other students who weren't doing quite too well. Later in her teen years, Annelise would eventually be given the chance to teach orphaned children. She did well and in little time was offered her own classroom in a secondary school.

Annelise would eventually go on to marry Karl. The wedding took place a few months after her parents were killed in a random act of violence. She was devastated, but she had to move on for the sake of her own family. However, that hope didn't last long. Karl was dragged away to war, and she never had the chance to see him again except through old photographs and the slight resemblance from his brother.
