I'm... not terribly in favour of random pairing. It's bad enough when applied to Fate RP's (they're hardly ever random in canon), when it's a process to match characters by compatibility, well... worst case, you match people up when nobody left can agree on anything, but may as well try to make matches that actually have some sort of interesting relationship. Plus, I don't think we'd be closing signups the instant things start, so random matching that assigns everyone immediately might be a problem.
I'm waiting for the numbers to even out before I make any decisions on how the pairings will work.

Random pairs with not so-compatible attributes working together to overlook their differences so that they can improve their performance sounds more intriguing than just putting compatible ones together.
