I refreshed the fudge out of the page to make sure no sneaky posts had got in that affected my interactions, or collabs were happening with Elysium or Andy so I think I'm safe?

New paranoia unlocked?? haha.

#ffc300 ....|..... outfit .....|..... Evelyn’s Cabin > Activity Field/Party

She had spent most the day in the warmth and comfort of her own cabin like many others. Whether they acknowledged it or not, there had been a shift in camp along with the season after Pandora’s Box. Usually the camp was more abuzz but perhaps during the party, the new demigods could inject energy and life into the environment once more. Perhaps the old campers would abide by the stigma of a fresh slate for a new year and everything would be less oppressive.

Her pen had found its way between her teeth as a half-attempted puzzle sat on her table. Rae, Liv, Nick. The three casualties of late, not including the few sudden exits. How could that all be wiped in the new year. Outwardly, she held no real attachment to any of the deceased or the ones that left but Liv…Liv who appeared so unapproachable and cold as good as saved her when she went under for Sylas. Evelyn couldn’t hold her breath that long, swim that hard, retrieve Sylas and break surface in time. As much as adrenaline pushed her, something else did too and Nick had passed too far away in the woods. A fleeting smile tugged on her lips. It would be big to title Liv her guardian angel. The notion would probably make the stony daughter of Poseidon ill. But Evelyn felt a sadness she could never express her gratitude to her. Nick could never grow into his potential. The confidence and beauty mixed with primal prowess of Rae was missing. Likewise, Cherise’s unique light presence was absent. Last was Liam. What on earth spooked the intimidating mountain of a man away? He never seemed one to shy from challenge or leave when things got rough.

Some mysteries may never be solved no matter how many times she unpacked it and rearranged it. Evelyn was particularly guilty of finding no peace in a lack of closure, try as she may not to dwell or wonder what ifs. When she caught herself, she would often affirm that there was no turning back time. Yet she revisited that day often. Leaving Sylas with the Kraken, fighting that winged warrior, the panic, the pain, the carnage. If it wasn’t for the most unlikely of pair, she would have ended up dead too.

Her gaze fell to her paper again. She delicately plucked the pen from her mouth and resumed her sudoku, trying to bury her thoughts in something slightly more productive.

Later...

She had turned off the heater and stripped her coat, beanie and scarf off a while ago, finding the temperature to reach something more comfortable. It wasn't impossible for the elements or weather to be tampered with at camp, and it's something she quickly learned to embrace without too many questions.

While the party wasn't compulsory, there was some obligation to go. If River could force himself to attend then she surely could. Besides, she had told him she'd see him later, both to the likes of him and Daniel, and she'd rather be a woman of her word with that particular company, big or small. Plus, there were fresh campers to meet yet.

Evelyn opened her wardrobe and weighed her options for a moment before pulling a dress from a hanger. She gave a soft hum. It might have been a bit glamorous, better suited for an indoor party but it was New Year’s Eve, why not wear something a little more for the occasion.

She peeled the rest of her layers away, substituting her bra for a strapless one and light underwear. She stepped into the white dress pulling it up and shimmied into it the rest of the way when it got difficult and hugged to the wrong places on her body. Evelyn smoothed down the creases and turned to her side in her wardrobe full length mirror testing the side-on view. Her scar was hidden beneath the material from either angle and the dress fit her form snuggly.

Evelyn shifted to her knees looking for the right shoes. She tucked some hair behind her ear as she grabbed the white open-toe pair with criss-cross straps. She rose to sit on the bed as a brace as she slipped into her heels and did them up then went into her bathroom for some cosmetic touch ups.

As a shimmering silver stroked against her eyelids, she did catch herself wondering what her intentions were and why she was dressing to impress. It always felt nice to be validated and feel beautiful and confident but there was something under the surface she didn’t want to admit. Nonetheless, she resumed with her mission, coloring her cheeks a fraction, plumping her lips with a natural tint gloss, eyeliner, mascara.

She styled her red hair to slink over one shoulder. With nothing else left to do, she forfeited her cabin for a party. An openly foolish mistake but she wouldn’t be alone. The first step out the door she was expecting to be met by the harsh bite of cold but nothing came. It remained snowing but felt the same as inside.

When the field came in view, she was taken aback by how it had transformed into a winter wonderland, minus the temperature. It could almost be on a family advertisement poster with all its activities, the bar, table full of food and lighting caught in one frame. However, less poster-friendly was the drama that indubitably bled into the parties.

With her head high, she smiled to Andy and Trinity gently as she got herself a serve of punch. “Evening ladies. How are we today?” She offered pleasantly. The last demigod she wanted to feel snubbed by her was an Ares child. Otherwise, she held a decent relation with Andy.

“So good. And only gonna get better. Right?” Trinity nudged her friend, but Evelyn saw the blonde all but elbow the daughter of Hecate.

“The night's young,” she said with her friendly smile in place. What way the night tipped for them was dependent and subjective.

Evelyn looked at Duke by the food table, happening to be in the middle of an apparently delightful treat. His shoulders looked slack and him at ease. Maybe they had some hypnotizing property in them. The thought brought an amused smile to her features. Then there was another man she was yet to meet by some assembly of kid games it seemed. She would rather have watched and observed but who knows how long both would be standing there waiting for something to go underway.

Evelyn approached carefully. It wasn't that she expected him to pounce into attack or anything, though it was always possible at camp she supposed, but she mostly wasn't sure he wasn't reserving spaces for particular company. She smiled at him. “Hi. Do you mind if I...” join you, join the game, stand in your company Evelyn wasn't sure which she wanted. So it just hung there until he granted or rejected her company as a whole.

She pointed to the setup. “What's this?” There were holes and ladders and balls and things. The objective seemed transparent, but then what? Suddenly, Evelyn caught herself in her dumb question. What if he viewed her as an idiot for not knowing such an obvious game or as uncultured? Either was unfavorable.

“I never really played much...of anything,” she confessed, her voice dipping in insecurity. She shouldn't have had to explain herself to anyone and he didn't ask but she felt the need to justify her lack of knowledge still.

Evelyn took a sip of her drink before another realization struck. She had done it again. Raced ahead with curiosities without introducing herself. “Mmm.” She frowned, hurrying to swallow her latest mouthful. “I'm Evelyn. Sorry.” She held out a hand.

Hey there :) Welcome to the site, though I'm relatively new too.

Just caught the tag for 1x1 but I may be brewing an open RP about something that's up that fantastical-themed and different era genre you seem to like so much. I'll probably come seek you out when/if I get it in action, but it's nice to hear somebody's into that stuff already :D

Potential Camp Athens

cons ....|....X may not hold in interactions and action sequences Xstepping on past RPers, plus a hot take
pros ....|.... ✓Really different from other two girls

For Devil's Edge...An Original Rp of mine

....Until proven otherwise by approval...

...God knows I need it...

Maybe in substitute they can go to shelter / their cabin and just refuse the bed and sleep on the floor. Not quite the same effect as sleeping in a tree but it’s something.
I'm kinda feeling a new pressure about my girls getting downgraded in scent now...

#ffc300 ....|..... outfit .....|..... Main Hall > Wandering

River pointed out his sister to her, pitching her as bright inadvertently and more personable. Evelyn turned her head to get a glimpse of Ocean who was with Iliana then back to River. “I know, we’ve talked,” she joked, humoring herself with a smile at least. “You’re not so bad,” she assured.

Conversation went on decently enough. “And let me guess, one of those people would be Andy? I think she'd rather eat broken glass than talk to me again.”

Evelyn’s lips danced in amusement. “One of those would have been her, yes. It’s good to hear you’re making impressions.” Maybe she gave her, essentially, ‘play nice’ advice too late in the instance of Andy and River. But she was willing to bet they could both be bullheaded and set in opinions in their own right.

“The layout of camp seems pretty straight forward. I think I can manage. And I’ve never been much for gossip. I think knowing camp exploits and drama would only sully my opinion more.”

Evelyn was pushing her food around but stopped to look at him as if he had said something of genius. She nodded and while she doubted he was after her approval she still commented, “Smart.”

They both indulged in their meal and drink for a time. She always undersold the importance of a meal, energy input verse output especially after the box and during healing. That, with some of the other physical demands camp forced out of them, food shouldn’t have been taken for granted, particularly with the hall’s abilities. She wondered how quickly camp would struggle if the hall ever collapsed. “If there’s somewhere else you’d rather be, I won’t stop you.” River interrupted her train of thought. “I’ve been made very aware that I have the personality of a rock.”

She shook her head softly dabbing at her mouth to speak to him. “No, I'm where I want to be. I think you’re fine,” she assured. “A little more interesting than a rock anyway.” She smiled.

“Thanks for uh… Being decent. It’s been nice having a normal conversation before everyone hates me tomorrow.” He gave a defeated chuckle.

Evelyn’s brows pinched together for a moment as she looked past him like the answer could be there. “Why would I hate you?” Then her eyes flickered back to him. Unless he was the new contender for camp leader with the intense training schedule and he assumed that would drive people against him. It wasn’t favorable, a new person coming along and giving demands without earning respect or rapport first, however, drill sergeants didn’t exist to make friends and take things slow.

As the threads joined together, she inclined her head in silent understanding. Poseidon must have raised another soldier or two, depending on Ocean’s position. Evelyn thought about telling him about the deceased siblings that came before to camp; that it seemed Poseidon was pushing his rule on camp via his heirs. Whether to help and discipline camp or stir trouble was unknown; therefore, not her place to say. He also already mentioned he didn’t care for gossip and it would sound awfully accusing.

The information did make her relook at River. She was talking to the potential new leader the whole time. Was he stressed about it or born ready? Was it a discussion or an order from Poseidon? It must’ve been tricky coming for such a position as an outsider but River seemed mostly unbothered, aside from some odd self-dismissive comments on his own company: that he was like a rock in personality, that she could go elsewhere, even thanking her for being decent to him.

Evelyn braced to say something, she needed to say something - even she was unsure of what – encouraging or assuring or more wisdom of camp but by that time he had stood up and taken their plates. She exhaled through her nose. “Thank you,” she said towards him taking their dishes.

“It was nice meeting you. I’m sure I’ll see you at this party thing tonight.”

“You too. You will.” Once his back was turned, Evelyn rested her elbows on the table, chin perched on her clasped hands, eyes drifting after him head to toe. What an unexpectedly delightful yet odd man. After he showed quite evident disdain for the idea and had no faith in his own social charm, he was still going to drag himself to a party. But if they were expected to bend to his rule, he could flex a little for them before everyone hated him tomorrow, according to his predictions.

Evelyn had to wonder how he’d demand obedience from an unruly bunch of demigods especially when he showed dashes of disparaging himself. Maybe a whole new façade would step forward.

She sighed to herself. She should have broken her own rules and stroked his ego and assured him more, or, if he was open to it, given him some advice on how to handle some of the acquaintances she had come to know. No sooner had the thought come, it was dismissed. River still had aspects to show yet.

“Psst.” Evelyn glanced in the corner of her eyes to spy Daniel leaning over like he was asking for answers to a test. “You been okay? Haven’t caught up with you much since...a lot.”

True enough, the two hadn’t conversed or checked in on each other since Pandora’s Box at least, but she didn’t overly mind with her own ugly wound to nurse and Sylas business. She shifted her arms to rest on the table as she turned to him. “It’s okay. I’m fine. I barely got scratched. What about you?” she said, adopting a much smoother and easier voice.

If Daniel was up and about, she could imagine he was currently in a good enough state and he would thrive in the party environment. Which she should have been sharp for too. She gave a small apologetic smile as she excused herself from the hall. “I'll see you later.” Evelyn would be sure to catch him at the party if circumstances permitted. For now though, she headed for the likes of her own cabin.
