I'm sorry... I can't keep going like this. I need solidity. Figure out what you want and why... and then talk to me. I will always love you. And yes. even she knows that.

I'm not asking you to forgive me. I'll never understand or forgive myself. And if I die, so help me, I'll laugh at myself for being an idiot. There's one thing I do know and that is that I love you.

Name: Erik Lehnsherr

Age: 31

Alias: Magneto

Appearance:

Costume: N/A

Abilities:
Electro Magnetic Manipulation - The power to manipulate electromagnetic fields to achieve a wide range of effects.

The primary application of his power is control over magnetism and the manipulation of ferrous and nonferrous metal. While the maximum amount of mass he can manipulate at one time is unknown, he has been shown to have surges of power when his anger takes over. This allows him to manipulate larger objects when he is in this enraged state. He can also affect non-metallic and non-magnetic objects to a lesser extent and frequently levitates himself and others. He can also generate electromagnetic pulses of great strength and generate and manipulate electromagnetic energy.

Skills:
In addition to his powers, Erik has many other skills. He is a genius with competence in various fields of advanced science, especially in genetic manipulation, particle physics, engineering, and other fields of technology. Fluent in multiple languages, including German, Russian, Dutch, and English. Aside from his ability to manipulate metals, being a doctor, he has extensive knowledge on how bodies work. He can remain calm under pressure and has no problem performing impromptu surgery if the need arises. He is a well skilled fighter, learning most of his techniques from Logan.

Personality:
Erik’s personality was forged by his war experiences: both the helplessness he felt when he and his family were prisoners in the Nazi camps, and the lengths to which he and the people around him had to go in order to survive. The weird mix of ruthlessness and idealism that drives him was born out of the extremes of courage and cruelty that he witnessed living in concentration camps. It’s because of those experiences that he cleaves so strongly to his own kind, and that his reaction when faced with prejudice or race hatred is to hit back 10 times harder.

He has a persistent desire to be strong and teach his fellow mutants how to be strong in a world fueled by hatred. He almost fears being weak or feeling helpless. Often times her keeps his deepest desires and feelings locked inside, only really being able to open up to Charles or Logan. On the outside he is a calm contrast to the raging emotions under the surface.

Position in School: Teacher - Power Control / Humans & Us 208.

Background:
"I've been at the mercy of men just following orders. Never again."

He was a man of medicine, born in Austria. His parents were Jews, but Erik was a man of science. Erik had become very interested in biology, and medicine when he, at the age of 7, discovered he could move metal objects with his mind. Wanting to learn more about his power fueled his desire to study hard, and he became a doctor at the mere age of 19.

Opening his own clinic, he was content helping people while researching as much as he could after hours. He wanted to find out if there were others like him, but it seemed impossible. Who could he tell? What if he was the only one? His fears held him back, and for some time he stopped searching, focusing on his work as his first priority.

Soon after, he met his wife, whom was of strong Jewish belief, and two years later, they had a son. Their lives were wonderful for a time. He had forgotten about trying to find answers about his abilities, and lived a happy life with his new family.

Then came the SS-Soldiers. Tricking him and his wife, along with their son, Claus, and their Daughter, Adria, into coming to Germany. To the concentration camps they went in 1942 despite trying to protest. If they fought or argued, they'd be threatened, and complied in fear. They were forced to work for another year and a half. Getting out and keeping his family safe was always at the forefront on Erik's mind. At a point, he remembered he had the ability to move metal objects with his mind, but could not find it in him to tap into his ability like he could as a child. He was weaker, only able to move small, handheld objects with intense concentration.

When the war was about to end in favor of the allied forces, the Germans were ordered to "deal" with the prisoners at the camps. Erik overheard a group of guards talking about killing off everyone in the camps, and in desperation, attempted to escape with his wife and kids. They were found out before they could get ten feet outside the gates, and his children were shot, right in front of him. his wife also perished in the gunfire, catching a bullet meant for him.

Erik's powers got unhinged. More powerful than anyone would've imagined. The entire camp was destroyed. In a blind rage, he mustered all his inner strength and killed every single one of the soldiers. The buildings were torn down, a few turned into metal wrecking balls used to destroy everything else and the prisoners that hadn't died as collateral by Erik's anger, escaped.

Erik was rescued by people who came to the camp, looking for loved ones, and taken to England, where he was approached by Xavier, whom offered him solidarity, understanding, but most of all, brotherhood. Erik joined Charles, and the two have spent the last year and a half recruiting young mutants. Erik vowed to himself that he would never let those who were under his protection, die in front of him again. He realized that anger was what fueled his power. Despite Charles' attempts to get him to find another source of power, they have been unsuccessful. Him and Logan have gotten closer as well. Erik has agreed to not treat Logan like his own personal metal-boned puppet, in exchange for some lessons in close combat. The two don't practice often, their duties to the students often getting in the way of them being free at the same time.

For now, Erik bides his time. He fears of another upcoming holocaust of sorts, in which mutants will be captured and exterminated much like he witnessed back in the camp. That fear is now what holds him so closely with Xavier's idea of teaching other mutants to use their powers. The difference, is that Erik sees in Xavier, an ambition towards world peace between humans and mutants. Erik wants no such thing. He is more focused on the survival of his kind. The humans will be allowed to coexist with them if they behave. If not, well... that is no concern of his.

Name:
Dr. Charles Francis Xavier

Age:
26, born December 19th, 1920

Alias:
Professor X

Position in School:
Headmaster / Mutation 101 Teacher

Appearance:

Height:
5'7" when he leans on his cane, 5'11" at full height

Costume (if any):

Abilities:

Telepathy:
Easily one of the most powerful telepaths in the world, Charles is able to perceive the thoughts of others or project his own thoughts within a radius of approximately 150 miles, able to access even one's deepest secrets should he push deep enough.

Charles' vast psionic powers enable him to manipulate the minds of others, warp perceptions to make himself seem invisible, project mental illusions, cause loss of particular memories, and induce pain or temporary mental/physical paralysis in others, though he will rarely use the latter two powers.

Charles can also form mental links with another that remains as a connection to that individual. To this end he can also communicate with others telepathically, though this power is much more effective if used with other psychics.

Within close range, Charles can manipulate up to fifty minds for such simple feats. However, he can only take full possession of one other mind at a time, and must strictly be within that person's physical presence. He is able to communicate with animals telepathically, but is not yet skilled enough to share their perception. He can also, to a limited effect, take away or control people's natural bodily functions and senses, though the more he takes dominance of, the less individual control he has.

As a side effect of his telepathy, Charles has an eidetic memory, only furthering his ability as a telepath and a scientist.

One of Charles' more offensive capabilities is the ability to project bolts of psychic energy from his mind, such bolts capable of stunning an opponent's mind to cause severe pain, unconsciousness, and even mental trauma if powerful enough.

Charles is capable of perceiving the distinct mental presence of mutants within a small radius of himself, (e.g. New York) though in order to detect mutants of a wider area beyond this radius requires an artificial amplification of his powers.

Despite all his powers, Charles is incapable of permanently reprogramming a human mind to believe what he might want them to believe, even if he did want to do so. His reasoning for this is because the mind is an organism that would always recall the steps necessary for it to reach the present, and thus will rewrite itself to its original state if he tried to change it. Nevertheless, should he reprogram one's mind, his reprogramming can last several years before rewriting itself.

Skills:
A natural genius, Charles is highly-educated in mutation, psionics, and biology while also possessing considerable expertise in other life sciences. He possesses Ph.D's in Biology, Biophysics, Psychology, and Anthropology, as well as an M.D. in Psychiatry.

A masterful strategist and tactician, Charles can quickly evaluate and analyze decisions before swiftly devising a response. Likewise, despite his physical handicap, he is also somewhat of a capable fighter in his own right, using his own telepathic abilities to sense the intentions of others and counter with superhuman efficiency. With this also comes extensive knowledge of pressure points, not to mention his cane packs quite a swing...

Charles is a skilled speaker and mediator, possessing a wide range of vocabulary, as well as his own neutral demeanor making him an excellent diplomat, though he can and will be forceful if necessary, holding a commanding presence that belies his humble appearance.

Charles has an almost superhuman amount of focus, due both to his telepathy and his personality. He rarely panics and always remains composed, even under great stress or pressure. Likewise he also displays great patience, never rushing and thinking out his decisions before executing them.

Lastly, Charles is fluent in both English and Latin, though is capable of hearing the thoughts of anyone in English.

Personality Traits:
A caring and compassionate man aged far beyond his years, Charles Xavier is the type of man to see good in everyone, no matter where they've come from or what they've done. He refuses to give up on people, always believing that no matter how far one has fallen, they can always be picked back up again.

Charles is known throughout the school as being reasonable and kind, but firm, oftentimes serving as a mentor and father figure to many of the students, despite his relatively young age. He can be stern and practical when the need calls for it, but is capable of extreme forgiveness and warmth as well.

Unlike many mutants, Charles holds no animosity or hatred towards humans, offering them the same courtesy and respect he will give to mutants. He remains highly hopeful that one day, humans and mutants can peacefully co-exist together without need for prejudice or discrimination.

Charles also has a penchant for mischief and practical jokes, believing that having a sense of humor helps to ease the students into their new homes, as well as making him more approachable.

Branching off from this, Charles is never arrogant, self-important, or pompous when it comes to his intelligence or powers. He is aware of his great abilities and does not hold back when reminding people of this fact, but he acknowledges that everyone has their weaknesses, including himself, and that one becomes strong by accepting their weaknesses.

Though hiding it from the students and even from Erik and Logan, Charles is also somewhat frustrated by his physical condition, yearning to be able to walk without the reliance of a cane. With these feelings of frustration comes bouts of pessimism and cynicism as well, in which Charles will become very pensive, wondering if his hopes for peace and coexistence will ever be truly realized. During these periods, he will typically shut himself away for a period of time in which to think by himself, only to emerge hours later acting as though nothing happened.

Backstory:
Born in the town of Salem in Washington County, New York at the start of the Roaring Twenties, the young Charles Xavier lived a life of luxury since infancy.

Raised by a British father and an American mother, both well-renowned and wealthy scientists, Charles showed signs of his mutant gene since he could barely speak, randomly talking aloud, as if in conversation, even if he was the only one in the room, or spending hours upon hours playing against himself in chess as opposed to romping about outside as most children did, or even seeming to read his parents' thoughts.

Brian and Sharon Xavier were initially somewhat wary of Charles' reclusive and bizarre behavior, but simply blamed such trifles on children's imaginations as they continued their work, day-in-day-out.

As Charles grew older and more independent, he found himself somewhat detached from his parents, as their busy work schedule made it difficult for them to spend quality time with their son.

The years went by quietly, but slowly. Charles was alone more often than not, wandering the hallways with nothing to accompany him but his thoughts (and sometimes others thoughts).

With nothing else to occupy his time except for the creaks and groans of the old mansion, Charles devoted himself to study and to learning, his genius intellect giving him a huge advantage over his classmates. It was for this reason that, by the time he was 16, Charles graduated from Harvard University with honors.

Holding his home in contempt, Charles decided he would spend the next years of his life traveling, absorbing different cultures with a ravenous hunger for knowledge. By the time he turned 18, Charles realized he would need to settle down and find a career.

Taking the first ship he could to Britain, the home of his father, Charles quickly sent in an application to Oxford University to be a professor of biology. Though astounded by his young age and lack of experience, the academic achievements Charles had amassed were enough to sway the school board into giving him the position.

Young enough to be a college freshman and possessing the look of a vagabond, Charles was nonetheless an excellent professor, his sheer knowledge and method of teaching quickly making him a favorite among students.

It was during this time that Charles, still curious about his own relatively unexplored telepathic abilities began to use the university's resources to do research into Homo sapiens superior, mutants, humans born with a rare genetic trait called an X-gene that granted them superhuman powers and abilities.

Research furthered into borrowing books from the library; borrowing books from the library furthered into writing thesis paper upon thesis paper on the subject, containing remarkable theories regarding the existence and genetic makeup of mutants.

Word was spread of Charles' work, and he quickly turned from being a marvel of teaching to a mentally deranged lunatic, "swaying his students away from science with talks of fictitious magic."

Charles knew it wouldn't be long before the school board eventually stripped him of his degree and reputation before promptly terminating his employment. Deciding to try and preserve as much of his dignity as he could, Charles turned in his resignation, now jobless on the streets of Britain while being the laughingstock of Oxford.

Using what money he had to buy a small, sparse apartment, Charles would oftentimes spend the cool nights wandering the streets to think by himself. During one of these calm nighttime walks, Charles felt something inside his mind...panic, fear, pain.

Somehow managing to trail the source of such thoughts to a dark alleyway, where two large men were shouting and hurling curses, kicking and spitting on a fallen individual who's features could not be seen in the flurry of feet and fists.

In a rare moment of both stupidity and heroism, Charles shouted at the men, grabbing their attention. His moment of bravery passed, however, the moment both of them charged him at once.

Charles reflexively shot his arm out, his other hand moving to the side of his head. The first mugger fell to the ground in excruciating pain, the other shocked shocked, but undeterred as he hurried after Charles, holding a rather sharp knife in hand.

What next proceeded was an unintelligible mess of fighting, dodging, and tackling. Charles did his best to avoid getting hit, somehow even managing feats of dodging that surprised even him.

But his luck wasn't to last as the mugger's knife found its way into Charles' back. At that moment, all sensation in his right leg became fuzzy and numb, more like a dead weight than a limb. Little did he know at the time that his leg would be permanently crippled as a result.

Succumbing to unconsciousness, the first thing Charles saw upon waking up was a tailed blue man staring back at him with virulent yellow eyes, flashing a somewhat weak, blue-tinted sharp-toothed smile.

Nearly anyone who would have woken up to such a sight would have been frightened, shocked, terrified...but Charles was intrigued. It didn't take a genius to guess that his savior was, in fact, a mutant.

Charles learned that the mutant (who identified himself as Meteu) was the individual being mugged in the first place, only for his appearance. That, in fact, there were mutants scattered all across the globe, hidden, shunned for their unique gifts and powers, some even killed by hate groups.

From that moment on, Charles realized what he had to do, what his mission was. He had to peacefully unite mutants and humans, one way or another. There were many like him, able to pass off as regular humans while hiding their powers away from society; but others like Meteu have truly little choice, left to be slandered, prejudiced, and beaten by those who would cause harm to those who are different.

Forced to walk with a cane from the injury he sustained in Oxford, Charles devoted himself to finding mutants wherever he went, starting with Great Britain as a whole. His journeys were not always easy, and he was a lone man on a large mission, but Charles would be dealt a good hand as he met the man who would become a close friend and co-founder of the X-Men: Erik Lehnsherr.

Charles learned that Erik, who was Jewish, had escaped the SS in Germany, that he had lost both his wife and children to execution, having used his extraordinary abilities to slaughter his captors and escape with his life.

Charles could do little but offer Erik solidarity and compassion, revealing that his mission was to unite mutants together in a haven they could live without worry, without fear of prejudice. Erik, having seen firsthand how even regular humans were treated by each other, accepted Charles' offer to join him, the two of them spending the next year-and-a-half recruiting young mutants around the world, finally settling in Charles' home state of New York, occupying a refurbished bar and military bunker as their home and school, Professor Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters: The X-Men.

Other:
Much of Charles' personal life before the War is unknown. Whether he had any romantic interests or not is open to much speculation, as Xavier himself speaks little of it. Secondly, Charles is an avid fan of music, having an affinity towards playing the piano, keeping a rather immaculate grand piano kept in his office/bedroom which he will play as the whim strikes him. During these periods he is incredibly open to allowing students inside to listen. Some even say he plays as a way to distract him from his handicap. Lastly, Charles suffers bouts of phantom pain from his bad leg, enough to keep him awake at night should they be severe enough.
After Erik gets finished, we will actually have 5 males and 5 females with 1 gay male and 1 gay female. Pretty even :)
Fantastic Ghost Shadow! Just fantastic! Charles is approved and has taken up spot number 9.

As soon as Shadowcatcher makes the adjustments for Erik I will open up the OOC
Meanwhile, those of you who are approved, please PM me. There is a slight matter of your introduction recruitment posts...

Those of you still working on a CS please continue. After Erik, there are still two spots open
Rules

As a player in this roleplay, I will not take control over any character without prior permission from that players user. I understand that this also means that this is a case-by-case situation and therefore must ask permission each and any time I feel like taking over someone elses character is absolutely necessary to my post. If I do not get permission from that user, I will respect their wishes and approach my post in a different way, or strive to work out something with the other user in a timely manner that is appealing to both parties.

I will respect everyone's characters as much as I respect my own. If a players character is meant to be smarter or more intimidating than my own, I will react accordingly and realistically in favor of constantly trying to 1-up each character that has stronger qualities than my own. As such, I will stick by what I have written in my CS for my character and steer clear of any sudden changes that is not written in my CS. If I wish to change something within my CS, I will contact the GM or co-GM and request a change which may be accepted, compromised or declined for reasons that belong to the GM and co-GM.

Furthermore, I will not take it upon myself to post something that will be drastically game-changing unless there has been previous communication and permission given by either the GM or co-GM. Game-changing is defined as but not limited to time skips, sudden attacks from NPC's onto any character that is not my own, mention of a not-used canon character and so on.

I will not spam-post, keeping my posts at least two other posters apart unless I have been given previous permission by the GM or co-GM. I understand that this is also case-by-case as I will have to ask each time I wish to post again so quickly. I also understand that should I be playing multiple characters, this rule does not apply so long as one character does not post directly after that same character again.

I will refrain from starting any conflict between players in the OOC. If there are any problems within the OOC, I will contact the GM or co-GM privately and discuss my concerns in an adult fashion where the GM or co-GM will respond to my concern accordingly.

I understand that if for any reason I have not been seen or heard from within a week of my last post without any prior explanation (i.e. vacation) then I will be dropped from the roleplay and the next person on the waiting list will take my place. I am also aware that should this be the case, and rights and/or control I have over my character at that time will be given to the GM or co-GM to be written out of the roleplay accordingly. I understand that once I have been dropped, I can not return.

Furthermore, should I break any of the above rules I understand that I will be asked to leave the roleplay and I will do so without bias or any harsh comments outside of any private conversation between the GM and co-GM. I understand that once I have been asked to leave, I can not return and my character or characters will then be taken over by the GM or co-GM to be written from the story accordingly.

These rules are subject to change at any given time should the GM deem it appropriate.

By posting in the IC, I have read and accepted these terms.

X-Men Noire: A Nation Reborn

Mutation. It is the key to our evolution. It is how we have evolved from a single-cell organism into the dominant species on the planet. This process is slow, normally taking thousands and thousands of years. But every few millennia evolution leaps forward.
-Charles Xavier

Setting

The year is 1946. The Second World War has just ended. The Nazis have been defeated and everything is finally starting to get back to normal, or as normal as an entire world can get after the most emotional war in history, recovering from a conflict that would go on to shake minds for nigh-on centuries.

Henry Truman is the current President of The United States Of America, argued to be the greatest country in the world now during this trying time. Even through the crisis, it is still (and even more so now) known as The Land of Opportunity, The Land of the Free and Home of the Brave. New York City, The Big Apple is where the eyes of the world are. The United States was really starting to turn things around for themselves.

America is now a place of prosperity and happiness, where everyone enjoys their time, where a man can carve his name into history. It's the greatest time yet to be alive... granted of course you have no problem with the drug-trading, human trafficking, murdering and kidnapping, The Mob having their finger up everyone's backside and oh, the Chinese slicing up people. Not to mention the xenophobic, racist and homophobic nature of the city, the whole world, in fact. But in hindsight, America was doing better than most countries.

This is where our story takes place. It starts with the name of a single scientist, none the less. Charles Francis Xavier. The 26 year-old genius is a man who's found proof of a brand new species living amongst us... and he is one of them. They are Homo Sapiens Superior- in Layman's terms, Mutants; people with extraordinary gifts and very few of them have made it through puberty already. Maybe it's because of the nuclear testing around the globe. Maybe it's something in the milk. Hell, maybe it's the coke everyone and their nan has been snorting. Not even Charles knows, but what he does know is that their gifts are to be used, not abused. His wish is to help every single one of his kind to a better life, a life with more control over their abilities, a life where retribution, segregation and judgement was no longer a concern. It is this, most importantly, that Charles wants... acceptance in the eyes of the general public who, for the most part, are currently unaware of their existence.
Not everyone can be Captain America.

Questions

Q:Will there be any other kind of ultimate enemy that we'll be facing, or will it just be essentially a mutants slice of life in the 40s kind of thing?
A:Yes, there will be an ultimate 'threat' for our characters, though what that threat (or villain) is I will keep that to myself for the time being, but it will be revealed slowly as the roleplay goes on.

Q:Do you have an age range for the characters?
A: Ideally I would prefer if the characters be limited to that of a younger age simply because it is slowly becoming a known fact during this time that the mutant gene is brought out though puberty, more or less. Not only this, but if a character were to have had their abilities for a good number of years now, their chances of getting caught and killed or imprisoned are much more likely. This can be side-stepped, however, if you give me a convincing story as to this 'older' character having just come by their powers recently, triggered by something other than just growing up.

What you need to know

The 1940's were dominated by World War II. European artists and intellectuals fled to the United States from Hitler and the Holocaust, bringing new ideas created in disillusionment. War production brought America out from the Great Depression. Women and blacks were needed to replace men who had gone off to war, and so the first great exodus of women from the home to the workplace began. Rationing affected the food eaten, the clothes worn, the toys with which children played with and so on... without a doubt your character has been affected one way or another (harshly) by the war.

After the war, however, the men returned and the women and blacks had to give up their jobs back to the men, but now having that taste of independence. No longer was the family farm an ideal; no longer would blacks accept lesser status. The GI Bill was now allowing more men than ever to get a college education.

Penicillin was just introduced successfully, revolutionizing medicine and curing what had previously been death sentences for thousands upon thousands.

The government reclassified 55% of their jobs, allowing women and blacks to fill them. First, single women were actively recruited to the workforce. In 1943, with virtually all the single women employed, married women were then allowed to work. This courtesy was not extended to foreigners brought over by the war, however. Japanese immigrants and their descendants, suspected of loyalty to their homelands, were sent to internment camps as the government didn't know what else to do with them. It is no secret that America had very big trust issues when it came to Germans and the Japanese.

Scrap drives were very common for the war effort and the production of cars stopped completely.

Franklin Roosevelt was president until 1945 when he died and Harry Truman took over to finish out the war.

Japan finally surrendered in 1945 after Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the United States came out the victor, though was challenged by the USSR. While the USSR subjugated the defeated countries, the US implemented the Marshall Plan, helping war-torn countries to rebuild and rejoin the world economy. However, disputes over ideology and control led to the Cold War. Communism was treated as a contagious disease and anyone who had contact with it was under suspicion and more than likely killed or imprisoned.

Television made its debut at the 1939 World Fair, but the war interrupted further development. In 1947, commercial television with 13 stations became available to the public. Computers were developed during the early forties. The digital computer, named ENIAC, weighing 30 tons and standing two stories high was completed in 1945.

Music

You were 'cool' if you listened to Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Glenn Miller, and Django Reinhardt (Jazz music)

Dating

Dating was 'absolutely essential' back then because life expectancy was low so there was that feeling of 'get married now or die alone.' Birth control options were limited and divorce just never happened.

If there was a single, healthy, young, American man, you can bet he was shipped overseas after Pearl Harbor, as conscription was very powerful during the time. Thanks to the war, the average life expectancy for a man was only 60 years, while a woman’s was over 68.

There were two types of single men left in the early 40s — those who wanted to sleep around because they knew they could die tomorrow, and the ones who wanted to land the love of their life, because they wanted something to have faith in if they died tomorrow.

It was always expected that a man pay for dinner.

In the 1940s, it was common for young people in their late teens to go out with a different person each weekend. The more dates someone had lined up, the more they displayed their popularity. Boys were obligated to ask the girls out, and sometimes they had to schedule a date weeks in advance. By the time a woman was ready to settle down, she would have gone on many dates and even had experienced “going steady” with a fellow or two. Of course, girls who smoked or had sex were considered easy and snubbed by the neighborhood. Thankfully, Hollywood took up smoking in the mid-40s and suddenly cigarettes became more acceptable and even sex but there are still those out there that will turn up their nose to the change.

Clothes

Wartime rationing left little time for fashionable whims or embellishments. Both men and women re-wore leftover outfits from the 1930s, re-tailoring clothes to hike up hemlines. Women slimmed down old mens coats and slacks, wearing pants in the factories to guard their legs against machines. Girdles were ditched for T-shirts. The bikini was first introduced in 1946.

Entertainment

Liquor, like all good things, was rationed during the war, but thanks to Roosevelt’s open trade policy with Latin America, rum was plentiful and popular. The rum daiquiri was a hit, simply sweetened with lime juice and a teaspoon of sugar.

WWII affected nearly every aspect of American life, and film was no exception. Thrillers and dramas like Casablanca, Notorious, and The Great Dictator reigned in the theaters. Big band music dominated the early half of the decade, while Frank Sinatra and his crooning cohorts wooed newlyweds by the end of the 40s.

CS

Note: At this time, I WILL NOT be accepting any characters that have any physical abnormalities like Beast in the sense that their physical appearance isn't anything considered 'not normal.' With the current problems of racism, sexism, religious and political differences playing a MAJOR role in the time period, that diversity is enough for now. However, as time moves on, I may be convinced to have a character or two under-go a 'freak accident' that later alters their physical appearance, but you must convince me hard.

That being said, I am accepting both Canon and Original Characters at this time.

I am not accepting any new characters at this time. If you have an interest, however, you may PM me with the CS attached and we can discuss when a good time might be to bring them in.

The School

Back in 1939, just as the war was taking off, many places of business were immediately run under and eventually abandoned. It was one of these buildings that Charles and Erik decided to take over for themselves, deeming it a practical place to start to gather and shelter mutants that should so need it, doubling as both a living place and an eventual school. Going with the vision in his head, Charles spent the next year or so cleaning the place up to make it acceptable for liming accommodations before he even thought about searching out other mutants. The building is split up into three levels; the main floor, the upstairs, and the basement.

The Outside

From the outside looking in, The Old Rose bar looks like any other building around the immediate area... run down and abandoned. All the windows are boarded up and the walls which Charles thought it best to leave that way for anonymity, keeping people from walking into the bar thinking it was open to the public. So far there haven't been any problems.

The Main Floor

The Bar

The only room that Charles and Erik were able to restore back to its former glory, the bar is the first room you walk into when you come in through the front door. This is the main area of ‘hangout’ for both teachers and students, since it’s the only really comfortable space within the entire building. Just down the hall are two different bathrooms, one male and one female. The bathrooms on the main floor do not have showers, only a toilet and sink. Unfortunately for some, the alcohol is off limits to anyone under the age at all times and anyone who is underage cannot be in the bar any later than 8pm unless they are passing through to get to the bunker or have special permission by one of the teachers.

Upstairs

Charles’ Office

Charles, taking up the post of ‘headmaster’ for this new beginnings school, has the larger of the two rooms upstairs in which he has converted into both his office and living/sleeping space. He has made it clear to any and every one that he has an open-door policy at all times, the only exception being when he is with someone who has required his attention or on the rare occasion wishes to be alone, in which case the door will be locked, letting whoever know that they simply need to try again later. He has a chaise lounge chair tucked into the corner for sleeping.

Erik’s Office

Erik, like Charles, has his own office/living space though significantly smaller, since most of the meetings and private conversations happen within Charles’ room. Because of this, Erik has his own rules of when people may come to him in his room, more often than not having it locked when he doesn’t wish to be bothered. His bed is tucked into a private little area behind the grey curtains for extra privacy.

Basement

The Bunker

Straight into coming down the stairs, the room is opened up in an underground bunker where all of the classes and training sessions take place. It is large enough for, say Charles, to conduct a class on one end and Logan to spar with a few of the students on the other end. There is noise beyond what you could believe, but it is the only space they have as of right now to do so. Because of this, there is a very rigid schedule of who conducts what classes and when. However, with the frequent sparring/training sessions, the ‘school’ equipment is replaced almost every day.

Bedrooms

Just past the bunker is a narrow cement hallway that is lined with a dozen or so doorways. Some of these doorways have doors, some don’t. It is beyond these doorways that are where the students sleep, a simple room with cement for walls, floor and ceiling. There is a small cot pre-provided for each student, but Charles has made it clear that any student may bring it whatever they would like to decorate the room however they wish so long as it’s tasteful and inoffensive. This includes any furniture they might be able to find or purchase on their own dime, but Charles has made it clear that any bedroom renovations will be done on their own time and not during school hours. Some of these rooms are better than others. Some have cracks in the walls, some have busted pipes causing water damage and slight drips. These rooms are first-come-first-served upon student arrival.

The Bathroom

Continuing down the hall past the student bedrooms is the large, open bathroom. Although crappy with pathetic water pressure and a water heater that likes to kick off more times than not, Charles has made sure that each shower stall has a curtain to keep some sort of modesty since there is only the one room, thus has a forced co-ed policy. At least, however, the bathroom stalls all have doors.

Well I got my co-GM working on Charles now, and Shadowcatcher should be done with Erik soon... that will give us the 10 we need to start and still 2 open spots if anyone should want them after that.
@Pie Flavor Very, VERY nice! I love the changes! Focusing more on his healing factor was definitely the right decision here and hey, it will give him and Logan something in common to talk about :) Approved! He has taken up spot number 8!
@Pie Flavor Sorry to shoot down your happy copter, I'm just not seeing it happening. Go ahead and make your edits and let me know when you have finished.
@Pie Flavor okay yeah I see where you are coming from but to me, that Iis an entirely new ability. What you have is physical changed that undergoes on himself, not others. So pulling in the nervous system, either on himself or others, is a completely new ability in itself already. Like I said, I see the relation but to have them both it just doesnt fit...

so as far as using his abilities on other people I would see as being limited to what he can do to himself but with a higher amount of concentration, eventually being able to change others hair or eye color by contact once he can control it better. But I think that's as far as it goes.
