Aaranya Singh : The Sacrifice
Age: 19
Bio: Aaranya grew up with her parents and eight-years-older brother. She was a pretty normal girl with a pretty normal life (for this town) until around the time she turned fifteen. Then, she began to hear voices and know things that nobody else heard or knew. She tried to keep these secrets to herself, but she could only contain her new reality for so long. Some called her crazy, some called her a blessed prophet, some called her a witch, and a few of the more educated townspeople used the word "schizophrenia." Her parents tried to support her as a "blessed prophet" at first, but they never really believed her or respected her worldview, and they became frustrated when Aaranya's behavior grew increasingly less "proper."
About six months ago, some sort of turning point happened. Rumors say Aaranya committed some sort of terrible crime, though the exact crime is unknown, with many different versions going around. Her parents disowned her and she went to live with her older brother.
About one month ago - an intentionally short time, so the person involved would have little time to rebel or escape - Aaranya was randomly (supposedly?) chosen as the next Sacrifice.
Other: Aaranya is quite aware that her mind does not work like others' minds. She has figured out some ways to manage her situation, but sometimes she has outbursts of strange behavior. On the other side of the coin, Aaranya has low self-confidence and poor ability to "believe in herself," as she knows that her beliefs don't always line up with everyone else's world. She is usually quiet and gentle, preferring deep thought over shallow words. Though her family was not very spiritual growing up, she has found solace in Hindu traditions and assigns the voices in her head to different deities. Aaranya's greatest passion is poetry. She loves to read and write poetry in her free time, and before her... selection, her dream was to learn multiple languages so she could read even more poetry in its original form.
@Moonshadow Yes, "surrounded by the creature's dark forest" is a good explanation. If you're not on the docket for sacrifice, why risk meeting the creature in the forest if you don't have to?
I'm trying to figure out a way around the plot hole of "Why doesn't everybody just leave?" It's not a fatal plot hole but there has to be something there... even if the answer is "It's a secret for now, we'll work it out later."
Maybe the town is very geographically secluded? So they have some access to modern news and technology, but it would be difficult to move?

@Vampiretwilight How are the sacrifices chosen? Do you have something in mind for that? Or do you want the players to choose?
Also... I can't help it. I have an idea now and want to play it. I volunteer as tribute! (claim the role of Sacrifice) I'll try to have an OC up this evening.

I could play the sacrifice, but I'd also be fine if someone else claims it. I'll say that I'll claim the sacrifice on Thursday 2/11 evening (my time) if nobody else wants to claim that spot by then. So we can get the ball rolling before too long.
@Vampiretwilight Hm, now that I think of it, your original idea for the untrusting wild Pokemon may not work out very well. 3 of the pending 4 OC's have full teams of six already, and some already gave up one for a Grimer. If we wanted to incorporate the untrusting wild Pokemon into the group, the OC would have to give up yet another Pokemon they chose to enter the story with. I set up my OC to potentially take in one of the untrusting Pokemon NPC's, but I don't know what to do with the rest of them. Brainstorming ideas?
New OC is up for approval. I can attempt romance but please understand that romance is not my strongest genre, haha.

Personality: Hard-working, serious, driven, principled, passionate about his values. He is mainly concerned with responsible treatment of Pokemon. Outspoken about his ideas but more reserved about his personal life. Some people see him as overly critical and think he should "lighten up." Confident in his own beliefs, has trouble listening to other people's opinions.
Other: While Eric is a requested male OC for potential romance, he is not "claimed" by any OC. He may end up shipping with anybody... or nobody if everyone decides not to like him.
@Vampiretwilight If you want to play those wild Pokemon as NPC's, I can try to come up with a human OC. I don't have any ideas I love yet but I can work on it.
