Do you have any? Are you against body modification? Do you regret any mods you've gotten? Is there a line that crosses from decent to "too much" when it comes to body mods? Etc. etc., just a place for general discussion on body modifications, can go as simple as dyeing your hair.

I want to know what people think :)

If it isnt obvious by my name, YES I've got tats :D I love seeing what others do to express themselves ^^

I think the fine line is when you either pierce or tat in private places. That to me is just going wayyyyyy too far, and I'd hope everyone could agree with that O_O

Awesome :) Have any pictures or anything of any of them?

I couldn't agree more with the first statement! I think our bodies are a blank canvas, and there's nothing wrong with taking advantage of that. As for the private places part, I can't say I personally would do that, but I definitely don't have a problem with other people doing it, to each their own and such.

I would agree with you Gabby!!! I'm all for piercings, tats and stuff but genitalia> ehhh, no thanks.

I personally want to get at least two tattoos and probably more. I want a wolf on my arm, and a certain someone (I won't say who because idk if they want people knowing or not xD) have talked about getting matching wolf tats.

Aside from that, idk. I prolly won't be the person that gets a LOT of them but I see nothing wrong with those that do :)

I've seen some great wolf tattoos, that would be badass :) I'm thinking I want a wolf somwhere as well, with a moon behind it, but I'd have to find an artist that can pull it off.

Personally, I want to be a tattoo artist eventually, so I plan on getting pretty heavily tatted up. But I decided to have a rule where I have to want something for at /least/ a year before I get it-- to help eliminate impulsive regrettable tattoos.

As for body mods I have already, I have a labret piercing, earlobes stretched to 6g (and going up about every week, 00 is about the biggest I'll go) and a whole list of tattoos I plan to get once I'm 18 :)

This is generally my issue. I want to design my own, but as a general rule I hate most everything I create about a month or two later. Also try illustrating freedom that doesn't involve wings, words or the american flag.

I was gonna say like an open birdcage but that kind of indirectly involves wings.

I have a large tattoo that covers most of my right shoulder blade, planning on a couple more, I just need to decide what means something to me.

As for things like subdermals and scarification, not a fan, especially when it's shit on your face. Same kind of goes for super stretched ears, it's not something you can hide easy and when you're looking for a career, most employers are going to judge heavily how that looks, and something you did in your late teens or early 20s can screw you for life if you aren't careful. Plus, should you ever want to remove the plugs, you can't without having permenantly saggy earlimobes.

Two points I want to touch on, first being, you say that employers could judge heavily on how body mods look, however, do you think that these things are being more tolerated as time goes on, or no? I'm not saying my generation (I'm 17) won't have trouble with it if we choose to get tatted/pierced up before entering the job world, but perhaps future generations could have a significantly decreased difficulty with it, no?
Secondly, you can stretch your lobes up to a half inch, and they'll still close back up over a relatively short amount of time (about a year, usually less), anything beyond that will not close, or if they do, it takes much longer. But stretching up to a half inch (00g) usually has no permanent consequences.

It's still a big gamble that society is going to grow more tolerant of visible modifications, especially any that serve the public. I work for a municipality and I can safely say none of the people who work there have any visible tattoos or piercings (minus typical earings for the ladies), and the majority of the contractors we hire are thr same way, as well as the services and stores we frequent for parts and equipment. It's like that most anywhere, and it's human nature. People want to deal with others who subscribe to social norms because it conveys a level of comfort and professionalism. You would probably prefer a doctor with a clean cut appearance verses the one with the face tattoo and devil horn subdermals, for instance. It's human nature that people rather associate with and trust people who look like us, as sad and often terrible as that often is. You can't say that most professions are filled by primarily clean cut people, is what I'm saying. That's not going to change anytime soon.

I've held a pretty wide array of jobs (financing travels on the spot leaves you with few options) and generally you only see people with visible tattoos in places people don't see you. Like factory-work (not the most appealing career-wise.) Then again... Finding work on plantations is something having a tattoo hinders with ('cause "them damn hippies ain't comin' on my farm!") and even call-centers ain't to keen on it either.

Socially, I don't think it moves fast enough in that regard. Unless you manage to score a job in a place where everyone has the same kinda mindsets or customers care less, like a youth hostel or tattoo parlour. It's pretty tricky. To compare, I've definetely found a rather big difference between applying when I had dreadlocks and after I cut them off. It's the first thing people look for, see. The moment you walk in, they've already judged you. Which I agree is pretty silly and close-minded, but as it turns out a lot of people are.
