Michelle noticed the cards on the ground and started helping Amaya pick them up. "Here, let me help you," Michelle said as she gathered the cards one by one. As she did so, she noticed the theme of the deck. "Ooo, Naturia cards. That's so cool!" Michelle remarked. Then she realized what she was doing and said, "Sorry, probably shouldn't be announcing that." She picked up what she could, then handed her little pile back to Amaya and introduced herself, "I'm Michelle, what's your name?" Michelle thought that she seemed like a nice person, so she might as well make friends with her.

"Hmm . . . "

"Hmmmm . . . "

"Interesting . . . "

*pant, pant*

"Okay, it's break time."

Professor Alexander stepped off the treadmill and powered it and the computer monitor down. He had been reviewing the Duel from earlier that morning, and was thinking of ways he would have countered each move made by each player. He was always searching for more and more ways for Xyz to beat the other Summoning methods. After all, he couldn't have one of his students losing to a student of another course. It would be shameful.

Of course, Synchro and Xyz were not his biggest problems. No, Pendulum seemed to be a larger threat than anything. He had to put his class' reputation back on top. Somehow. Maybe by perfecting the strategies against Synchro and Fusion Decks, a hole would be revealed in the Pendulum strategy. Yes! That had to be it. After guzzling a bottle of water, the aged Alexander went back to his exercising studies.

After a moment, a student stumbled upon the Professor's secret workout room, and simply stood in the doorway with his mouth agape at seeing an elderly teacher exercising.

"What is it that you need? I'm rather busy at the moment," the Professor said, seeming to forget he was wearing a very odd and very old track uniform that sported an image of "Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack".

The student seemed like the question he was trying to ask was almost painful to force out. "Uhm . . . Professor? What are you doing?"

"I think the better question would be what are you doing?" Alexander asked. Picking up a remote from the treadmill and pressing a button on it. Instantly a hundred paper airplanes, a number in the shape of "Mecha Phantom Beast" monsters, were launched in the direction of the door. The student, not realizing that the projectiles were what they were, ran out of the room screaming, but left the door open.

Again, Professor Alexander had to dismount the treadmill so he could carefully make his way to the door, collecting the airplanes on his way, and close the door back. Then, his chore of housekeeping done, he returned to his studies.

Professor McKillings was roaming the halls of LDS, leaving his students to duel and socialize in his Tribute Summoning class. The lesson he had planned to teach would come later, but first, he decided a nice morning stroll around campus would be a better way to start off his day rather than sitting around in his noisy classroom watching students' subpar techniques. Besides, after this morning's exhibition duel, most if not all of the students were fired up, so McKillings figured that after they released their energy, they would be much easier to teach.

As he turned a corner, he saw a lone student peeking in to closed doors curiously. McKillings frowned at the display of disrespect and planned to intervene, but a startled expression on the students face stopped him. He watched the scene unfold, a grin on his face as he guessed what exactly was going on.

The student took a step back, almost paralyzed by what had been seen upon opening the door. "Uhm... Professor? What are you doing?" the student forced himself to say. "I think the better question is," Professor Alexander's unmistakable voice poured out of the doorway like a flood, "what are you doing?" And just like that, paper airplanes. They were everywhere, like bees, as if the boy had disturbed their hive. The child ran away screaming, and McKillings let out a laugh. He made his way towards the door and picked up a stray paper plane as he did, examining it in his hand. "So, Alexander," McKillings started with an amused grin. "You must show me how to make these." He handed the plane he had picked up to Alexander politely.

Professor Alexander was surprised when he realized that not only was he not alone, yet, but that he had missed a plane. When Professor McKillings, one of his co-workers and colleagues, handed one to him, asking him to show him how to make one of his more ornate airplanes, Alexander stopped momentarily, thinking about whether or not he should. They were designed rather carefully, unlike the typical origami plane. He had nearly perfected his art, and was not in the mood to divulge his secrets.

"Well, my good fellow," Alexander replied, very carefully taking the plane back, as one stray crease or wrinkle could completely ruin the piece, "the art of plane design is one of precision. I could teach you the same way I teach my students, but that does not extend into designing masterpieces such as this," he explained, holding up a plane in the shape of "Mecha Phantom Beast Kalgriffin". "They are all left to figure out those steps on their own. One did come close, one time, however, in designing a plane that would have been in the form of 'Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon'. Now unfortunately that specific treasure has met an ill fate when another student fell victim to jealousy and stomped that poor vessel under his boot. Of course, you didn't come in here to hear stories."

Continuing to speak, Alexander wrestled a completely mismatched outfit of bland, gray sweatpants and a bright Hawaiian-style shirt on over his track uniform so as to not scar any other wandering students with his attire. "Before I can teach you, however, I must know if you even know how to fold a standard plane that can fly more than half a foot at a time. After all, what good is a plane if it lacks flight? It is none! Haha! Therefore you must understand how to give a sheet of paper flight before you can understand the full art of plane design. So tell me, do you have any prior skills in this art?"

As Professor Alexander returned to his work-out room, Professor McKillings followed, looking around the place curiously. Like the child, McKillings was a little curious as to what Alexander was doing working out at the school of all places. He saw a computer monitor sitting on top of a treadmill's control panel. Immediately, McKillings knew exactly what was Alexander was doing on seeing the monitor-treadmill combo. Alexander was, while working out, digging further in to the strategies of the two students from the Fusion course and Synchro course to make sure he himself, and possibly his students, could counter their strategies. After all, the Xyz class was one of the best classes in LDS at that point in time. And by the quality of students and Professor Alexander's vast knowledge on the subject, it was no surprise. The Xyz class housed some of the best duelists in the school, namely Korbin Okiyama, who had in every official duel, only lost once. The loss was close, but well deserved, as Korbin had lashed out at Professor Alexander for something long forgotten, and the end result was a duel in which he was put back in his place.

McKillings listened as Alexander explained the elements of plane design, throwing in an amusing story of how a student had had his own plane crushed underfoot by a jealous offender. McKillings shrugged as Alexander asked if he had ever constructed a plane that would fly farther than half a foot. He thought about it a little harder before replying with, "it's been a while since I've made a plane. I'm sure I've made one that flew further than most as a child, but... As soon as I entered adulthood, I just haven't had the time. I'm sure I could give it a shot again, though."

Korbin swatted away Vern's guesses like flies. "... Nope... No... Not Tributing," Korbin disagreed. "My monster's Special Summon," he explained, "but to Special Summon themselves, they first need to be destroyed. Only one monster in my deck can be Normal Summoned, and every other monster must be Special Summoned by that way. And judging by your confusion, I'd say that's pretty uncommon." The description was vague at best, and of course, Korbin didn't want to reveal too much. He wouldn't risk a loss if the duel he sensed was coming did.

"You seem to be wrong. Special Summoning is so common. There are so many ways to do it that even if all ways of doing it are different, it's still common in general." Vern replied. So his monsters Special Summon them self when they are destroyed? "To be honest, most uncommon thing you could do is to play with only Normal Summons."
Korbin sighed at Vern, who had some very conflicting opinions with his own. "Vern, there aren't many monsters that can be summoned in the way the ones in my deck can..." He stopped and set his backpack on the ground, digging around for his Duel Disk and deck box hastily, as if irritated, which in a way he was. As soon as he found his Disk, he slipped it on his wrist and turned it on, slipping his deck inside it's rightful pocket. "You know, Vern, after all of that, I'd rather just show you," Korbin stated curtly.
"Hmm... Well, I guess I cannot turn down your proposal. Mostly out of my curiosity, I admit." Vern said while attaching his Duel Disk to his arm.

Korbin pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance. Korbin, what have you done? he thought to himself. Could you have played any worse? He shook his head and began to pack up his things, putting his deck back in to it's deck box and folding his duel disk in to a smaller, more compact version of itself. "So that's what you meant when you said that your monster summon themselves when they are destroyed Korbin?" Vern asked while detaching his Duel Disk from his arm. Korbin nodded, choosing to gesture rather than speak to reply. "Artifacts, huh? They seem very useful. Maybe one day I will try them out." Vern continued to talk ignoring fact that Korbin decided to only gesture in answer. "Sure," Korbin responded, no longer interested in Vern. "You're in the Ritual Summoning course?" Korbin slung his backpack on to his shoulder and pointed down the hall. "We walked quite a ways. Your class is that way." "That's right." Vern replied. "Well I guess classes will start soon. Later." Vern said and turn around to go in a way Korbin pointed. "Ah, before I forgot. What course you attend?" He asked before leaving. "I attend the Xyz course," Korbin answered. "And, by the way..." Korbin stopped to think about what he was going to say. "... What's your win record?" "For this school year it will be 1 to 0." Vern replied with a little smile. "I see..." Korbin then turned and walked away, not bothering to say goodbye.

A bus pulled up to the school, a simple occurrence that wouldn’t have been noteworthy at all had school not already started a while ago. The doors opened to let the students inside the bus off, but none stepped off.

"Hey boy, wake up!"

Saze slowly opened his eyes just enough to see who was yelling at him. Then he turned his head around to look at the other seats of the bus. "Where did everyone else go?" the boy mumbled still more than half asleep.

Something was off about this kid. "You were asleep when everyone else got off at the school," the driver explained, his exasperation showing in his words. “I had to drive all the way back to the school just to drop you off.”

"Oh, okay" Saze stood up and started to walk towards the door off the bus. Something thunked to the floor as he stood, a metal box that was connected to the boy's clothes by a long chain. "Oh, I need that," the boy said softly as he picked up the box. And with that he pushed open the bus door and stepped off.

"Why do I get the feeling that that one's going to be a hassle?" the bus driver said with a sigh. He'd just stared up the bus to drive off again when someone knocked on the bus door. It was the boy. The driver opened the door and said, "Yes?"

"Which way is it to the school?" Saze stifled a yawn with the back of his hand, unintentionally adding a half dozen extra O's to the word school.

The driver pointed back down the road, where the front entrance of the school was not a hundred feet away and clearly visible.

"Oh, thank you," Saze mumbled as he walked away. The bus driver drove off before the boy could think of any other way to hold him up.

Saze walked down the road a ways with his eyes mostly shut. After walking a little while, he opened his eyes and turned his head to the side. The front gate of Leo Duel School was open before him. He turned and shuffled onto school grounds. Since he wasn't really paying attention to where he was going, the next time Saze really looked around to get his bearings he found himself in a completely empty hallway. He didn't know where he was, but he did see a vending machine a ways away, so he walked towards it.

There was candy and snacks in the machine! Saze hadn't been hungry a second ago, at least he didn't think he had been, but seeing all the yummy snacks so near he was suddenly starving. After a few fruitless grabs, his fingers eventually found the chain that led to his box. He unlocked the metal box with a key from around his neck. Inside the box there was two places to put decks, one of which held his deck and the other of which was just filled with cards he occasionally put into his deck, and a small slot to hold a plastic card. Saze pulled out the latter and used it to buy as many snacks as he could carry.

Saze was much more awake and alert walking down the halls while chewing on yummy sugary gummy worms.

Moros put his earphones back in after the duel and watched as everyone else slowed filed out of the arena. Moros supposed he should go as well but he didn't really have anywhere to go, it's not like he had any friends to hand out with, and as far as he could tell there were no classes yet. Maybe he should try to find someone to help him get better at dueling. Hmmm, everyone else seemed to make friends with people they dueled with maybe he should try it, if not then maybe he would learn something from the duel anyway. He wondered how to about challenging someone, he didn't want to just randomly challenge someone he just met, but he didn't know anybody either, he mused to himself as he wandered around the hallways

"Nice to meet you, Amaya," Michelle said cheerfully. "I'd like to talk more, but I gotta get to class. Bye for now!" Michelle ran off toward her class, keeping an eye on the time. Freya remarked, "She seemed like a nice person." Michelle mentally responded, Yup. I'll definitely talk to her again, if I can find her next time. In the meantime, though, she needed to hurry, otherwise she would be late for class.

Gale was still fuming as she and Joshua walked down the hall. Her brother, the subject of torment, had escaped their grasp twice. And she had been, as she put it, assaulted by her brother's friend.

"Are you going to look like your pants are smoldering all day or are you going to cheer up at some point?" Joshua asked Gale.

"How can I be cheerful after being violated by you!" Gale exclaimed, not at all entertained by being told she looked like her pants were smoldering. "You are just so incredibly rude. I thought we were supposed to be a team. What happened to that?"

"What happened was that I was helping you by helping Brent. I mean, it won't be much fun for you if the fun ends too early because you scared him away from seeing that girl, am I right?" Joshua said" Also, me covering your mouth is not violating you. I could do so in much worse ways, if I wanted to try."

Gale had tried interrupting, but was stopped by his explanation of what violating was and wasn't, and when he said he could violate her in much worse ways, her eyes grew wide, and then she was boiling like a tea pot again. "How dare you even suggest something like that! Didn't your parents ever teach you how to treat a lady properly?"

"Considering my mom is dead and my dad is a drunk, no, no they didn't," Joshua said in a low, heated voice. "Care to bring that up again Gale Ryutora? And do you honestly consider yourself a lady with your attitude?"

Gale couldn't figure out anything else to say, so she simply stopped in the middle of the hall, quite abruptly, and started pouting. It didn't last long, though, when someone who had been walking behind them didn't realize she had stopped and walked into her, knocking her forward toward Joshua.

Joshua saw Gale beginning to fall out of the corner of his eye and reacted quickly, moving to catch her. Angry at hero rno t, Gale was still his friend and he protected his friends. Problem was, when he caught her, one his his hands brushed a certain part of her chest best left avoided. This in turn caused him to go very red.
"S-sorry," he said stuttering slightly.

Having closed her eyes during the fall, Gale was shocked when she seemed to not hit the solid floor. When she heard a voice apologize, she was shocked to hear it from in front of her. Then she realized she was not at all lying down, but rather she had been caught. And when she opened her eyes and got back to her feet, she realized the one who had caught her was Joshua.

"Wait . . . you caught me?" Gale asked, surprised. Then, after noticing how red his face was and remembering that he had just apologized, she continued, "And why are you apologizing? You just kept me from falling on my face. See? Now that's how to treat a lady right."

"You honestly don't want to know why." Joshua said, looking away.

"Yes, I do," Gale replied, almost childishly, becoming more curious when he avoided her gaze. "What is it? What happened that made you so red?"

"... Because I accidently touched something I shouldnt have." Joshua said, still looking away

Gale looked confused at Joshua's answer. She hadn't felt anything. Eventually, she just shrugged, saying, "You must have imagined it. I didn't feel you touch anything other than my arms." Then, forgetting her earlier anger, she skipped away happily.

"Thank god for that," Joshua muttered.

Amaya waved as michelle left. she looked around at first confused where she was to go but soon had a somewhat good feeling of what direction she was to go to get the synchro class. she was pushed and pilled every which way in a few waves of students moving quickly to their classes. She couldn't even hear her thoughts from all the shouts of excitement, anger and god knows what else she was hearing. "Its so loud..."She whispered to herself finding a area to duck in letting everything pass by as she took a breath "now I kno what it feels likes on a black friday sale."She whispered

The next morning, Brent actually caught the school bus on time and didn't end up late like he had yesterday. That morning was uneventful from his point of view, other than his sister still teasing about Amelia coming over the previous night. It's not like she was his girlfriend or anything. Well, maybe not yet. He was still working on teaching her what love was really about.

As he went to class, he took his usual seat next to Joshua and reclined a bit, hoping that he wouldn't be like his sister had been. Luckily, he didn't have to worry too much about that, because the second he sat down, the professor began speaking.

"I have been told to give an announcement this morning. There will soon be held a tournament between the all students of LDS who desire to Dual-Enroll. This means that a student will be allowed to attend multiple Summon Classes at one time. Only the top three finishers will have proven themselves worthy of Dual Enrollment. There will also be other rewards available for those top finishers, including cash prizes and a full Deck of rare cards for the first place finisher. Anyone wishing to participate should see me at the end of class, though only sixteen students out of the entire school will make it in the lineup. Now, for the lesson today--"

The professor's mistake was in giving that announcement at the beginning of class. The class now erupted in conversation, all talking about how they wanted that first place prize and wondering which cards would be in the Deck. Brent simply glanced over at Joshua, knowing right off the bat that one or both of them would have to compete. He even knew exactly which class he would go for if he made top three: Synchro. Maybe he'd even be able to learn enough of Synchro from Amelia to be able to use it in the tournament. Whatever happened, he wanted in.

Joshua arrived to school ahead of Brent and was at his deck when his friend arrived. Joshua kept his feet on his deck with the chair leaned back and his hands behind his head. He glanced over at Brent and nodded, his typical way of saying hello. When the teacher came in he sat at his desk properly, like every other student there. Unlike the others, after the announcement, he didn't make such a big fuss about it and tried to pay attention to the lesson instead.

After the class was over, he looked over at Brent.
"So, you invited Amelia over last night eh? Was everything okay? Gale poking fun at you about it?" He asked. He didn't sound like he was teasing and actually looked a bit serious about it. He did support Brent after all.
In the Synchro classroom, Amelia had taken a seat in the back of the class. She had gotten a lot of attention when she had walked in, with some of her classmates begging to duel her or asking how she had gotten her deck or various questions related to her and Brent. It was only after the teacher had came in that they left her alone and given her the peace she wanted. While the rest of the class chatted about the tournament, Amelia looked through her deck, enjoying the temporary peace.

While others around Michelle were ecstatic about the upcoming tournament, she wasn't. At least, she wasn't as excited as the others were. Sure, rare cards were always something to get excited over, but the Dual Enrollment part was a bit of a downer for her. Her deck relied more on her ace monster Splendid Venus, and there just wasn't much Extra Deck support she could really use that supported it. Still, she supposed she could still have some fun in the tournament.
Press thought about which class he should Dual Enroll in if he placed in the top 3. Most likely he would go with Fusion. The Ancient Gears did have a very powerful Fusion Monster, after all. Still, it was only one monster, and the Ancient Gears weren't exactly known for Special Summoning. He decided he would give it more thought later. For now, he would focus on class, unlike some of his classmates who were excited about the upcoming tournament.

Moros eyes lit up like everyone else's when he heard about the tournament. He loved to duel in tournaments, and better yet if he won he could enroll in another class and learn another type of summoning. This was gonna be awesome, even if he didn't win he would probably be able to make a friend or two along the way. He fidgeted excitedly in his seat as he waited for class to start already thinking about dueling in the tournament.
