Ive on several other sites been part of a system, or helped to set up a system used to teech people arena rp. It covered grounds ranging from rules, to scheduling times for practice and lessons, to sharring styles and techniques. It would be something posted in such a way, that anybody could follow up, and learn to rp by reading the post or by contacting the mentor of the "dojo."

Here is the fun part. It always turns out better IC as compared to ooc.

I think this could be pottentially lots of fun, and very informative. I myself would only assist in setting up the program, because im only a mediocre RP'er at best. I also think it would be fun for some people to assume the roles of masters, or teachers. At the very least, we could have them teach techniques, styles, and theoreticles.

I want to know who thinks that this sight could use a "Dojo"of sorts, who would be willing to teach, how many people would be interested in learning, and if we should continue the theme of doing this primarily IC. Im open to discussion, questions, recommendations, and the likes.

Well, this is heavily community based, so the idea need more responce. When mentors come about, ill pm them or talk with them here. Fear not, as soon as we have this system set up, I shall Pm you to inform you that a Master is ready to teach, and that it is apropriate to come and share/ learn.
Upon re-reading this, i couldnt help but notice the word master popping up a little too frequently. I wish to express that NOBODY is perfect, and that includes the mentors. We are not expecting perfection or the greatest RP'er ever, but somebody who understands the mechanics well enough to teach the less informed, and who is willing and patient enough to teach. I feel the word Master is a little innapropriate, and is better replaced by the word mentor.

I'd be willing to be a mentor. I've tried it in the past and would like to think I managed it decently enough.

Alright lets start PMing specifics, and ill help get a system set up. We mostly need to discuss simple things, such as: Where Shall We Place the "Dojo", What form of language shall we use, etc.

Ill pm you immediately.

I'm sorry to have noticed this late. I would be willing to do this as well.

I have taught, both IC and OOc, as well as teaching various styles. I've been a roleplaying teacher before as well, and I think I could certainly help. That experience stretches over several different venues, such as MUD's, forum sites, chat sites, one on one teaching and sparring over IM. I've got a few people that are interested in learning combat as it is, but I have not had a good format to start with, initially, or at least thing shave gotten sidetracked.

Perhaps, something besides a simple 'dojo', but perhaps something like an Academy that could teach many aspects of combat might be feasible. I'd actually like to have a storyline progression for people, so they don't loose the other aspects of RP involved, for the IC part. For the OOC part there will definately need to be a mentoring process and even review. Would it be a group peer review, or would it be something like a moderator (in the dojo/academy), or administrator or something? Who knows.

I don't even know if this is still going on as a thing, I have more thoughts on it, but for now, that;s my initial knee-jerk reaction. Also, I want to make the Arena an exciting and interesting place to RP, besides ONLY combat elements.

I have always rped in pre gun warfare I am proficient in many of styles of that era coming from Europe but there are a few odds and ends I know. If you need someone for that I'm in, I might be a little rusty though.

I'm interested in this and would love to participate. I have never played in the arena before, but I've always wanted to learn, so it's great to have something like this.

I didn't specify before but i would be mentoring in primarily Ic though I could do some OOC if people are interested. I am most proficient in "knight" styled combat being sword, shield, mace, spear, and axes though I am probably missing a few.
