I'm just surprised he used the wrong term when addressing the WOI (should've been either Mister Bridges or Warrant Officer Bridges, rather than Ma'am), but that could've also been a carefully crafted insult, reminding her that she used to be a commissioned officer. Or he's being sexist, using the feminine form of address.

I didn't know ma'am is a sexist term?

It would be in the context of pointing out that she's the only female there (I guess)

It isn't usually, but given that Saf's the only woman in the room and Phayne went out of his way to use the feminine form of address it could be taken that he's trying to deliberately remind her that she's a woman unnecessarily. The only reason he'd do that would be if he thought being female was somehow a disadvantage, which would then make him sexist.

I've had enough girlfriends in my life to be able to easily work my way through logic like that with almost no thought whatsoever. :)

I'm seriously not prepared to second guess and over think every single thing my character says...If you think it's sexist, have your character say so-It would be pointless to do it any other way.

It was supposed to sound like a compliment. It's good to give characters depth and complexity, and having Saf trying to work out if he's being sexist or making a personal attack against her plays more into her own insecurities and burgeoning inferiority complex more than making a judgment against Phayne himself.

You have to remember Saf's a damaged person who's suffered years of perceived ridicule and oppression at the hands of the military, she's likely to take pretty much anything people say to her out of context.

@SimplyJohn Looking at Saf's CS, I can see why she'd want to record this, but do you really think if they tried to "leave her out to dry" that they'd leave her with her wristcomp?

The best way to screw her over would be to abandon her behind enemy lines, since then their hands would be clean of her murder. Recovering her wristcomp from her at that point would be an outrageous risk for them, and if she died before getting back then the wristcomp would do her no good anyway. The same goes for if they simply decided to shoot her in the back of the head, once she's dead all her problems go away.

Also since her wristcomp is part of her standard gear they'd have no reason to take it from her before she left for the mission, unless they want to come out and blatantly admit what they're doing is wrong.

Well, black ops is black ops. They want no records, whether or not the mission is ethical

yea, the whole Point of Black Ops is just that...it's dark. Meaning it's pretty much off the record. If you get caught behind enemy lines...well you were never there in the first place. It's kind of understood that if a black ops mission goes south, you can only rely on you and your team to get out of it. The government abandoned you the instant you started the mission, offering minimal support for what is required to get the mission done. If things go to far south, you are cut off. If you live "yay they made it back" if not...well there is no record of you ever being there in he first place...Don't you love politics.

Feel like I should point out this isn't really a jab at anyone. Just kind of a statement, it's understandable that for everyone but Jax and Seth this is all new, seeing as far as I can tell they are the only two that done black ops before, Seth for a bit, and jax it was most of his career. Though I do feel like saf would at least have some understanding of how such operations work even if she had never been apart of one.

@GhostReaper Yeah, that's true. There have only been a few missions Seth has been in that were considered black ops (since his military career was based in recon). Most of his mental state of mind comes from his logic-mindedness. It is influenced by the black op recon missions he's ran, but the fact that his thoughts are based on logic and efficiency make him less apt to speak unless necessary and order his thoughts the way they are.

That's the entire point of Saf making her own record, to prove that the events really transpired should she need to. As I pointed out in her bio, Saf's not exactly the most trusting and stable of characters right now, so her thinking's not exactly logical.

That's good for me. :)

...He was just glad he could heal minor wounds without any tools, using his nanites...

...psst... He doesn't have his nanites yet, we're not going to be issued our equipment until the next scene...

Installed as part of the operations we were given before signing on? I take it he's been briefed on their operation ahead of the rest of the team then?

Well, I don't know about you, but I (and Indar) would like to know what the doctors put into me after the surgery. It just seems logical that they would explain his augments to him, because it seems that everyone else is aware of theirs.

In Saf's case they told her it was classified and that she'd be informed later when it became relevant to the operation. As a good soldier she accepted that, but obviously her patience is beginning to wear a little thin.

I guess we just imagined things differently then.

Isn't that the point? If all our characters reacted in exactly the same way to everything things would get very boring, very quickly. :)
